Back in either Ashes or Scholomance, I had a friend who played Aggro Pirate Priest. Did surprisingly well back then, and I am sure he would be happy to see how well it is doing now if he still played HS.
You know, as I was watching this, I thought: "man, that 2 mana deal 2 hero power every turn sure feels oppressive with an aggro deck" Then the past 7 years of face hunter flashed before my eyes and was like "f*ck it, let the god damned priests have some fun too"
Now you have to factor in that priest has a significantly smaller pool of aggro cards and they have to run a 5/7for 5 ao they can ojly fill 29 slots with aggro
I took a stab at answering the question "Should Reliquary Prime be replaced?" (22:17) I considered wild 0-cost, 1-cost, and 2-cost cards, either priest class or neutral, and found a few possible options. As stated in the video, 'Frazzled Freshman' or 'Tour Guide' would work. 'Freshman' is just a vanilla 1/4 and 'Tour Guide' gives you the ability to weave in an extra Hero Power. As far as Shadow spells go, 'Potion of Madness' gives a minion charge, so you could technically use it for burst (or removal in a pinch). 'Silence' is also a Shadow spell (it even costs 0, so you can almost always play it), so you could tech one in if you end up facing annoying taunts or deathrattles a lot. Assorted aggressive neutral 1-drops: 'Abusive Sergeant', 'Archerus Veteran', 'Blazing Battlemage', 'Elven Archer', 'Emerald Reaver', 'Leper Gnome', 'Small-Time Buccaneer' (a 1/1 pirate; it could even have an upside if 'Shadowcloth Needle' is equipped), and 'Worgen Infiltrator'. Some of these can deal an additonal instance of damage ('Elven Archer', 'Emerald Reaver', 'Leper Gnome'), so they could gain extra benefit from 'Voidtouched Attendant'. A few 2-drops potentially worth considering. Note that raising the mana curve is probably a bad idea and replacing a 1-drop with a 2-drop would only be worthwhile if the card can provide a significant enough effect: - 'Fogsail Freebooter' (a pirate; battlecry deals 2 damage if 'Shadowcloth Needle' is equipped) - 'Serpent Ward' (a totem; deals damage the turn you play it, can damage the enemy hero through taunt, and can deal damage without trigger some annoying secrets, like "Noble Sacrifice" or "Explosive Trap") - 'Cult Neophyte' (disruption of enemy spells, could be teched in to help address early removal) - 'EVIL Conscriptor' (2/2, deathrattle gives you a lackey, a little extra value if you feel that you're running out of gas too often) - 'Garrison Commander' (two hero powers per turn, could give you something to do with your excess mana if games tend to drag on longer, likely out-classed by 'Tour Guide') There are a few options apart from those I've listed above, but I either considered them fundamentally too weak/slow or inferior to other stuff already listed here. Thank you for coming to my TED talk.
No way for silence and madness. These spells are situational, dead cards against otk decks that most people play these days and they also decrease the chance to discover mind blast out of shadow vision and the other 2 mana spell. The 2/2 pirate needs to fulfill a condition, no effect without the weapon means it's not good especially with a 2 in 30 chance to get the weapon online. I know the 2/1 charger has the same condition but it only costs 1 mana so pulling the 2/2s from your hand and patches from the deck on turn 1 makes it a good card even if it doesn't have the charge. Extra value is not needed in aggro decks and commander doesn't seem to fit in shadow priest. Cult neophyte is a fine option.
@@enoxpro112 Yeah, I know many of these are marginal at best, but I wanted to try and include anything that seemed even remotely viable. 'Small-Time Buccaneer', 'Leper Gnome', and 'Tour Guide' seem to me like they'd be the strongest candidates.

responding to the "Not a good deck but a response to the meta" comment, I think what they mean to say is that the deck is good (or more narrowly, a deckbuilding choice is good) currently because the meta favours it, not because its just good on it's own merit. A good example of this from a different game was during the reign of Hogaak in modern mtg, it became standard to run 4 leyline of the void in your mainboard - not because this was a good card to have in the main, but because Hogaak was so dominant that having a Hogaak specific sideboard card in your main was a good call for tournaments. Not that I agree with that person either, this just looks like a generically fast aggro deck with good early flood onto the board via pirates+felwing and good reach damage with mind blast and shadowform, don't think it's particularly meta dependant.

That babyrage warlock lmao
Poor warlock was 1 win away from legend. Why Roffle being the gatekeeper of rank 1 didn't realize it nor give them mercy
Petition to give Patches rush
2 mana deal 5 to the enemy hero, while niche and not very flexible whatsoever, is still a powerful card for what it does
It was so funny! :D
It's weird to think that priest now is more likely to be aggro
When meta so fast u need to be faster than light
I hate people that do that BMing when your losing is just bad form. I watch hearthstone but play Eternal and when I have an opponent doing that wait till the turn just ends I figure I have a few minutes to waste, so I do everything on my turn in the last few seconds just because.
The warlock is 3 star 1 win away 3 from legend. Roffle being final boss gatekeeping those rank 1 didn't realize it nor give them mercy
Aggro priest! A rare semi viable sight!
It's not just SEMI viable, it's very competitive like high tier 2. Many people got high legend with aggro shadow priest
Chat alternates between complaining about questlock and suggesting card changes to a deck that beats questlock. They're almost funnier than you Roffle!
Comment for the algorithm
No we wait for patches unnerf and our favorite captain will become the best 3-drop in wild again…
That poor warlock was waiting for the Roffles concede. He wanted the win probably for going legend. I've seen streamers doing this. I don't know why you didn't
Yea poor warlock was 1 win away from legend. Why Roffle being the gatekeeper of rank 1 didn't realize it nor give them mercy
Squirels! please 🥰
Can I just say I live for those dumb interactions and opinions from chat
Legend rank and no defile. And i'm stuck in platinum 10 clap clap
Hi roffle
This deck is disgusting, and i thought that Pirate Warrior was aggressive...
heeeelloooooooo! youtube
Wait I played pirate priest last exp and it was insanely bad lmao
This deck probably loses hard to any control deck that has armour /life gain, which don't really exist right now
@@bingbong1919 The new card that adds 1 damage to all instances that deal damage is also pretty nutty. Also questline warlock really doesn't like decks that also hit you in the face, since it's already doing a lot of that to itself.
@@ruukinen agree, all combines to a favourable meta for hyper aggro
It's amazing how priest is always the worst class to play against be it as aggro or control
There's no balance, it's super weak or super strong. xd
@@silenux7419 last expansion Control priest was nuts now it's time for aggro priest to be hated, speaking as a standard player
I have not learned my lesson of immediately disenchanting cards every new expansion and darkbishop is a victim of this sadly
Why would you even disenchant legendaries at all? Having even a shitty one means your next one is guaranteed to not be that one. If you disenchant it instead you run the risk of only ever pulling that one from packs.
@@ruukinen so I take it you havent played HS in a year and a half? Because thats how long that mechanic has been done away with
me but with voidtouched attendant. Time to bite my lip as shove in a couple tour guides
@@qwerty11111122 are you saying that the non-duplicate function has been done away with? lol
@@qwerty11111122 I don't even know what to say. I haven't got a duplicate during all this time and have seen no indication for it having been removed so it seems it is you who is out of touch.
So is it like a meme in Hearthstone to overhype Shadow Priest? Cause let’s be honest guys, it’s not *that* good.
No it's legit competitive. People reach high with it

"Isn't a deck that responds to the meta and does well a good deck"
Yes and no.
A good deck would continue to do well with minor shifts in said meta, while some decks are simply anti-meta and quickly fall in relevance as soon as that meta shifts ever so slightly.
550th like, nice
Deck is disgusting.
Btw responding to dumb chat questions with sarcasm is not a good look.
Gets a bit tiring. I know it must be tiring checking those questions but maybe a different approach could work better.
Thanks for the content.
that is just your opinion though, i quite enjoy roffle's witty responses to twitch chat, and it's one of the things that make me watch him.
wait why does the reply have 7 likes but the original comment has 1
I just got a turn 3 lethal with this deck.
let me guess, your opponent did nothing for the first 2 turns
