The commission quilt you made is fantastic; I can only imagine the hours and hours you put into it not only in the actual creation of it but in the thought process and planning too. Great job! Oh my, what an artist Ellen was, so creative and she was a natural talent in her art. Being a cat lover, my favorite is the black cat one but I really think the things she used on the ones you have are so interesting and all the items definitely give such wonderful results. Thank you for sharing all of this with us. It does make me sad though that she didn’t have anyone to leave her things to. I love it that you used her tiny scraps to make a true “memory” quilt. I know you will always treasure them. Happy quilting 😊
These are extraordinary! What a treasure for your friend and his life events. Can’t believe what you did to document all the numbers of things in his life like the mountains, children, etc. and still did all that hand quilting. The landscape quilts are beautiful! Love the free flowing use of fabrics and stitching and the simplistic added touches that make these so amazing.
I love the quilts you’ve sewn … and then there are Ellen’s creations. It’s easy for me to see why you wanted them. She was obviously very creative. This was a fun video. 🙂
What a lovely tribute to one of your quilting friends. I'm so happy that you have a few pieces to remember her by. I also think they will inspire you and direct some of your future projects. I"m glad that you used your cherished fabric on her quilt. I know how hard it is to cut into. I'm hoping to be able to do the same as they coveted fabrics cannot bring joy in a cupboard. And finally Nora, I love, love, love what you did for the commission quilt. It is so thoughtful and heartfelt. I feel like a know him after hearing about all the things you put into his quilt. He is going to love it. Be sure to video his reaction so that you can enjoy watching his reaction to the gift that you have given him - it will be a gift to you. You are very special.

Wow 2 amazing quilts. No wonder we have not seen a lot of videos from you lately. Your London border is perfect for that quilt. I love seeing fabric works of art, always inspiring. if you have more pics of her work, I think a lot of us would like to see more of them. A great video!!!!
Ellen was an artistic genius! Fantastic work. I definitely would have bought a piece of her work. Your quilt of her scraps is really artistic as well and the colors are so good. Your commissioned quilt is AMAZING! I hope you will share his reaction when he sees this beauty.
Your friend did him a big favour - he never would have got such an amazing quilt from anyone else - wow, wow, wow, mind blown!! and I haven't even watched all the video yet - still on the first quilt!

Wonderful quilt, so much fun to look at. He can tell a story about each block, great conversation piece. What a fantastic life he has led. Nora, it was so great to meet you at the Genesee Valley Quilt Show. You're a super star! Way to go Ellen, your quilts will live on. So special!
Thank you for sharing your beautiful commissioned quilt, and those of your former fellow guild member. Ellen was very talented from what I can see of her work.
Great video! Ellen had a great imagination. Why isn't some of her pieces in the quilt museum, If I had a pinch of her creativity I would be so happy. Really like the memory quilt you are very talented.
Love this. You are so inspiring! Your mix of color are eclectic and “outside the box”, but they work! I get a lot of comments about my oddball fabric choices and then they work. Your choices are like reinforcement!

I love this quilt. The Liberty Tana lawn print is one of my favourites. Such a perfect choice to tie all the colours and prints together.

A great tribute to an artist. Glad you could save and enjoy much of her work.
From what I can see, they look like chain stitching. I would never have thought of using nylon stockings in a quilt.
I agree, the waterfall stitches look like very loose crochet chain stitches.
Oh, how wonderful that you gave this lovely homage to your friend, Ellen. I think she would have been very honored!
Love your enthusiasm. I’m definitely not an artist like your friend but I love to sew quilts
Your 2 quilts are great!! The tribute to your friend Ellen is so touching!
A lovely way to pay tribute to a fellow quilter, Ellen.

Love the cat!
Ellen was truly an artist. The world has become less without her in it!
I may have stood next to Miss Ellen picking scraps last fall at a quilt show in PA. RIP
That's very unique
Your friend Ellen’s work is fabulous! May she Rest In Peace.
WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!
