I’m with James regarding the accredited bodies in the UK. I have a PgDip in counselling and psychotherapy but refuse to associate with an accredited body because I believe they are unethical and frankly give a false impression of ‘quality’. My course was accredited by the BACP and run in conjunction with an NHS Trust but was a box ticking and hoop jumping exercise to regurgitate their ideology of ‘therapy’. I think I’ll reach out to James and see about getting involved in his service.

I think there is space for alternative practitioners who are not dragged down by their woke professional bodies! I’m leaving mine after 29 years and will continue to practice as always!

Thanks for the chat. Always welcome learning the latest regarding James.
Sounds like a manageable base level sanity is returning. We'll see where it lands. 🐿

It's amazing how such a thing as taking one's (therapist's) beliefs and personal circumstances as a topic is allowed in this form.

Therapists like myself who offer help for people with unwanted same-sex attraction have been the canary in the coalmine. Our colleagues threw us under the bus when we've been falsely characterized as harming people or actively tried to outlaw us with "c0nver$ion therapy" bans. And now look where we are. This movement certainly did start with attacking the alternative approach. It started with attacking us, those who adhere to natural law as a guide for sexual sanity, or simply those who offer therapeutic choice.

Just listened to a therapist who does similar work being interviewed on Becket Cooks podcast. Absolutely fascinating!

@DogDocLou yeah, Joe Nicolosi Jr. He's my mentor. I'm certified in his Reintegrative Therapy approach.

I was for gay marriage long before the establishment Liberal types, but I could never quite understand the blanket condemnation of so-called "conversion therapy." Obviously, it was important to put a stop to methods that were abusive or quackish or where there was no legitimate consent, but I saw nothing wrong with the idea per se. The forbiddenness of that topic should have been an early warning sign for me that the gay rights movement was bearing the seeds of something more sinister.

@troll_kin9456 yeah, true liberals and libertarians should be open to exploring the topic, not so dogmatic.

1:09:53 Endocrine-disrupting chemicals in the environment should be investigated to see if their presence does correlate with transgender self-identification. That's a perfectly reasonable research hypothesis. It doesn't follow that transgender people should be given yet more synthetic hormones to 'fix' them. I wrote about this in the article 'Are “Life Goals” Anything to Do with Health Services?' on the Genspect website, any feedback would be welcome.
Also, it could be that the hormonal effect creates a predisposition to social contagion, as clearly not all young people are affected. It may turn out that desisters were the individuals more prone to social contagion, while the persisters have an as-yet unidentified physical difference. No reliable research will be done while transition is monetised, because if a medical diagnostic test was possible, a proportion of customers would have to be turned away for being 'not really transgender'.

I'm glad he mentioned that step 1 was punishing the violators of free speech.
I'm very much a softie when it comes to law enforcement and I don't really believe in retribution. But it's shocking to me when I see people preaching amnesty, and perversely acting like we would be taking the high road if we chose not to prosecute the guilty parties. It's completely backwards. The high road is enforcing just rules fairly and evenly. Looking the other way when people in power abuse their position IS the meaning of corruption.

Stephanie, I adore you. If the economy ever turns around I will definitely invest in 15 minutes of your time just to have a sane chat.

I've tried to explain the "i believe I'm Jesus Christ" analogy to people... they refuse to even try to understand it.

I signed up for some online support groups while my parents were both dying/family imploding, and I came to it with a very open mind about who I chose as my therapist. But I found that when I tried to join groups that were led by people who didn’t look like me, without fail they deleted me from the group without reason, and when I’d ask why, they say they were full (yet they still had open spaces,) or that they did not think this was a good fit for me. Once or twice, sure. But multiple times and I finally gave up, found a therapist who had listed on her profile that she spoke a second language that my ancestors would have spoken, which also told me she was from a country where the religion I grew up in was predominant. Since she lived near me, I knew she was socioeconomically similar to me. I decided to stop fighting the enforced segregation that I was shocked to find had taken over the psychiatric world. UNAPOLOGETICALLY. And that’s the way I’m going to live my life now. This is how the world wants to go, fine. I’m no longer going to make an effort to be open minded. I shall now do what others do and seek surrounding myself with people who won’t reject me outright based on the face I present in my profile pic. I miss the days when I had friends and colleagues of many different shades and cultures, but this is the world we live in now. Maybe it will change back.

I'm not sure why this was like by the channel host. This is the saddest thing I have read all week

@ Maybe they realize this is the healthy way to feel and exist in an unhealthy environment. We all have to stay sane and not subject ourselves to further misery in this world.

@@KitschKiss-pi8wp Well, at least @goodgrief888 found a therapist at last. The rest is sad, I agree. We have to fight segregation.
