    From the video: Inflammation:
    * The typical American diet encourages unfelt, internal inflammation.
    * Inflammation encourages many diseases: cardiovascular, alzeimers, cancer, etc
    To reduce unfelt internal inflammation:
    1. Avoid transfats and high fructose corn syrup
    2. Avoid other refined oils and fats
    3. Avoid other refined, processed food. Flours, sugars, anything that digests quickly
    3. Eat more & varied produce, emphasizing vegetables
    4. Use more herbs and spices, especially turmeric and ginger
    5. Drink green tea
    6. Eat dark ( not milk ) high cocoa chocolate - in MODERATION
    7. Eat more beans
    8. Eat fermented foods labeled as having "live cultures"
    9. Practice a stress reducer: breathing exercises, meditation, etc.

Thank you Dr. Hyman for your great work of making these insights available to the broader public. Your work had such a huge influence over my healing as a poor woman who found herself looking at epilepsy at age 34. I am now 55 years old who wrote a book about my experience of trying to find good healthcare in the USA wherein the corrupt healthcare system wants people sick not healthy. My book is titled "SEIZED- Searching for health in the United States". I now work in foodbanks helping poor people get some food each week. The quality of food these people are given is simply grotesque. They get bags of foods of things like Lucky Charms and donuts! This is social injustice in our country today!

What a celebrity to have on the show! Hard to believe that Dr. Weil is turning 80.
I remember in ancient times, finding an ancient book of his in my campus library called "The Natural Mind" ( 1972 ).
He talked about his time with Timothy Leary and traveling the world to explore psychedelics.
It was a very interesting shock for me as I only knew him from the 80s as a nutrition and health guru ----- which was a very distinct thing from therapeutic psychedelics at the time!
I still remember the most interesting idea he wrote in that book.
Drugs don't create societal problems on their own, it is the culture.
Societies that had cultural norms for when it is and isn't okay to use a drug don't suffer as many problems.
For example psychedelics in South America. You do it with a shaman, at appointed times, after approval, and by as set of rules. No drug problems.
In the West a similar cultural norm is how it is a red flag if you drink alone or drink during the day.
The world has indeed changed since Dr. Weil was a student traveling around the world studying exotic plants.

4:07 Olive oil is a fragile monounsaturated fat and will oxidize if you heat it (and also by being in contact with light and oxygen), you should NOT use it as a cooking oil because doing so will liberate free radicals that will cause inflammation in your body. And if you're paying extra for a first cold press, you are then throwing your money out the window because you are defeating the entire purpose of a cold press if you heat the oil afterward.
Olive oil is best used as a salad dressing, and you should use saturated fats (coconut oil is the best plant-based source) for cooking as they are stable and won't oxidize by being heated.
That's why olive oil has to be stored in a dark glass bottle, preferably in a cool temperature, whereas coconut oil can be stored at room temperature in a transparent plastic jar without any issues.

This guy was one of the first (real) health info guys I discovered yrs ago. I know I read at least a couple of his books. He lost me though when he said (yrs ago) that candida wasn't a thing. Or maybe that having an overgrowth of it, or having it systemically, wasn't legit. I'm wondering if he still has that opinion. Also, the vegetarian thing, so not healthy for most ppl. Only 5 mins into this video, but he looks like he's still vegetarian (very pale skin, dull-looking eyes). I think a lot of these theories we have about health come from skewed info, and often not very intuitive. Skewed because the studies we do (aside from how they're often profit-motivated) are done on ppl that are already really effed up with frankenfoods, frankenmeds, and assorted other toxins (but supposedly healthy because they don't have blatant disease). Like for yrs (and maybe still) it was advised to not eat fruits if you have an overgrowth of candida. But I think we just make such conditions (and our health in general) worse when we completely omit these good healthy foods. Overcoming our inclination toward excess and extremes ("vegan" etc) might be one of the really important things to put on our health to-do list, heh. Not to mention this deprivation mentality that we still tend to have. That suffering is a good thing (you know, like that old, unfortunate "no pain, no gain" crazy). Also, more emphasis on how to properly digest the foods we do eat. It seems like you guys are often holding back burping and such, as if you've just hurriedly eaten before recording. Maybe take a minute to breathe before, after, and while you eat. Simple little things like that, which can make a big difference, are often left out of the mix.

The question I have is how do we heal faster after a hard work day, even if it's just an overview per area of body, and heal faster. What foods do they both approve of, what is the actual process our bodies go through to heal. I have been cutting down trees at my first job then my second job cleaning gutters on hillside houses had me cutting trees and getting the logs up the mountain. 4days on an off in 6 day work week to get out of being homeless and only a bike has ade my body achey like eating flour products used to do to my body.
I've been studying this my whole life. And I know the next step that I think should take place that they also have refered too on individual videos of each great doctor, weil an Hyman, is 100% correct. Actions are needed to accomplish any dream, I've completed a business plan an model and they both keep evolving especially since I've heard of mark Hyman and have been studying his videos.
