My brother and I were there 40 years ago tonight, He sadly died some years ago so I am watching this and having a few beers in the memory of Stabbo Red, my brother. God bless him.
Year before that Forest was in Division 2... Clough not only gives them promotion, first year league winner and following year win European Cup! and the following year two succesive European Cups.. its unreal!
Clough AND Peter Taylor. They were a team! Taylor was a genius in spotting players and building them into a strong team - Kenny Burns was a Striker until he was signed by Forest and became one of the best Centre-backs we've ever had. He also spotted Gary Birtles at a non-league game. Long Eaton United if I remember correctly.
My older brother and I were traveling all over the UK and we stopped at a pub in Nottingham and when we saw Nottingham Forest win the European Cup, grown men and women were wiping away tears of joy, happiness, amazement and some… shock.
I was 13 when I went to this game. Nottingham to Munich on a coach with no toilet on board, no TV, barely any soundproofing over the engine bay - those were the days. Whenever we stopped for a 'refreshment break' it was like an Olympic Sprint as the older lads raced to the toilets to 'ease their pain'......
I remember watching this live with my dad , when English football ruled Europe , 4 years before Leeds united were robbed of this trophy and banned from Europe..Back then you didn’t just have to beat the team you had to beat the ref and fifa as they have always hated the success of the English game and plotted against us. That still remains the case to this day
49:4050:01 Why have those ridiculous concrete circles near the byline?? They're extremely dangerous. Francis did very well to avoid seriously injuring himself.
@@paulswords3705 I know it was held in the Olympic stadium. Those circles could easily have been covered before the match. I found out recently that they were not concrete so, although not ideal, they were not as dangerous as I first thought.
En polare bar omkring på en Forrestvimpel veckan före match. Vi andra, Bajare, Gnagare, och... de där andra, tyckte det var lite löjligt. På den tiden hejade t.o.m. Stockholmare på MFF i Europa.
1:29:00 Tommy Anderson, the best. He came to the match with a few minutes missing. His mission: to "achieve" the "screw", a very hard level movement and skill, in wich the player gives a complete turn around his own body, to, finally, kick the Ball on the other side. If only he had been successfully, all of us would be here celebrating his name and the epic goal. I have watched this match on TV, here in Brasil, and since then, "Screw Andersson" has been inspirational and motivational.
Robert Prytz went onto play for The Rangers. He was a great player and only 18 years old in this Final. He still lives in Glasgow. He ended up becoming Bobby Prytz.
Wow.. how fortunes have changed. Malmo haven't had much luck in Europe since and Nottingham Forest (twice winners) have been absent from the Premier League for over 15 years.
In 73-74 season I saw Clough at Walton and Hersham and Aldeshot. Five years later he led a team out to play in the European Cup Final... ...with a team that he had brought up from 5th from bottom of the Second Division...and what forward line: Robertson, Woodcock, Birtles, and Francis. If the term genius can be applied to football management, then it surely applied to Brian Clough.
It was an incredible feat by Clough and Taylor but I also feel that Clough landed on his feet to some extent when he came to Forest. There were already a number of highly talented players at the club when he arrived - five of whom would go on to make the starting XI in a European Cup Final.
@@ppuh6tfrz646 I had seen Forest at Millwall a couple of weeks before the 6th Round cup-tie at Newcastle. From memory, Robertson, O'Neil, and Bowyer played. I do not recall Anderson and Woodcock playing, although I know they were at the club. The stand out player was Duncan McKenzie, who, of course was signed for Leeds by Brian Clough. What if McKenzie was at Forest with Clough?..
+David Shreeves I didn't talk about racism. When i saw the game on french tv, it was very funny when you heard commentator said "Anderson gives the ball to Anderson who gives the ball to Anderson".
Francis never prospered at Forrest goalscoring wise due to the fact that he was played out of position by Clough on the right..The opposite to his place at Birmingham..
Wait, how could be there were 2 english team made it to european cup? Didn't European cup must only for 1 european club from each country that win the league?? Liverpool doesn't win the 1st division english league before this 78-79 european cup season...
Liverpool won 1978 European cup so they automatically qualify even if they dont win the league, same way Forest played next yr edition even tho they didnt win the league

God bless him indeed Agnes it was an amazing time for Forest fans
i realize it's quite off topic but does anyone know a good place to watch new tv shows online ?
@Joseph Zayd lately I have been using Flixzone. Just google for it :)
@Leland Jermaine Yup, been using Flixzone for since march myself :)
@Leland Jermaine Thanks, I went there and it seems to work :) Appreciate it!!
Malmo in the European Cup Final...back in the days when there was more to football than money.
The reason why i love arsen wenger

That's why the Forest success story outshines Leicesters by a mile
@@edmundpower1250 haha steady on, magnificent as it is Leicester winning the league is the most ridiculous story in football history.

The genius of Clough and Taylor demonstrated by the sight of Garry Birtles winning the European cup

Chelsea 2 UCL Forest 2 UCL Villa 1 UCL.... City, Arsenal & Spurs.... thanks for trying !
This is why Mr.clough and Forest paid 1 million for a certain Trevor Francis 👌
För jävligt att inte Malmö vann, det lär aldrig nånsin hända igen att ett svenskt eller ens ett nordiskt lag går till final av Europacupen igen
