I have the same issue too. I started learning how to ride in March 2020. Took the 3 day safety class and got 2019 Indian Scout and had put 4,300 miles now. I love the Ducati and everything about it. This video gave hope for people that are short and still enjoy riding. Thank you.
just for who ever may need this info, just wanted to point out that there should not be a gap with the normal stock seat there in the first place. You can adjust the stock seat in hight and then if more adjustment needed of course you can go to the lowered seat option.. hope this also helps a bit. Great video by the way
Very disappointed that the Instructions were actually wrong. The Ducati manual actually tells you how to do it properly. 1. The 4 rubber bits were not meant to be removed! It’s the plastics caps u see the seat itself that is meant to be removed 2. The side seat fairings/plastic bits are meant to be unscrewed and removed as well when lowering stock seat according to the manual.
I'm 5'8, long torso, short legs, I'm going to order the lowering kit, as well as the lowering seat. Then I will try just the seat, & if that isn't good enough, will install the springs as well. My salesman gave me a quote on a 2019 821, & also a 2021 Monster+ 937. The 937 for less than $300 more; it's a no brainer. The 937 offers a quick shifter, awesome LED headlight, lighter weight, hydraulic clutch, better electronic display. So much more refined technology!
hey, my short duc brother. i got same bike 1200s for the same reason. its adjustable seating. not a lot of bike like it unless you go cruiser. wished it had tuono power but its still a fun fast bike.
I'm almost 1,90m and I can tell you that it looks better on the Monster when you're a little bit smaller. I am experimenting with putting the original seat in the lower position, despite my size, so that I don't hang too far in front of the tank but have a better sitting position. Just wanted to write to you that the video was interesting for me even when I was 90. Thumbs up.
Thanks for sharing, I’m 5,7” and I’m thinking about getting a Ducati 1200r my main concern was that I might be too short for that bike, but with this new seat sure it’ll make it easier to ride it.
Great vid mate . Really needed to know how low this bike could go as I want to get one but like yourself I'm short.5 stars for getting down to things instead of messing about like some channels
Hi Maxamillion Ed, im 164 height and have a Streetfighter V2, its 845 mm height, im going to buy the low seat that its going to -20mm less, but 825mm i think its not enough to feel the bike 100% secure, do you know if i can low the bike a little more from the suspension?, thanks for the answer
Nice, man! I have an 09 M1100 with a slightly lower (and way more comfortable than factory) Sargent seat. I tip-toe/barely ball-of-feet, but usually just put one foot down when stopped. (I’ve got about 4-5 inches on you I think.). I’m going to see if there is any way to lower my seat even further, you gave me some ideas! You’ve got a new sub! Looking forward to more Ducati/motorcycle content from you! Stay safe, mang!
Thanks bro. Appreciate the love. I'll definitely be doing some more duc / moto vids. Just bought a Honda monkey to compare with the grom. I alternate between motos and money vids.
@@tabobois452 it's not uncomfortable. It's just not as comfortable as the stock seat. After about an hour your ass may start getting a little numb haha
Hey bro, stock seat is adjustable correct? I swear I almost spent an hour trying get the seat to the lower setting but it wont up latch. What am I doing wrong? I did removed the 4 rubber thingy as well as the plastic cover on the bottom of the seat.
the Ducati v2 is 33.1 inches, one of the highest i've ever sat on. I need to figure out how I can get my hands on one to do a tutorial on how to lower it but long story short you get a lowering link and swap the stock one out with an adjustable one that can be adjusted on the fly.
tacking the rubber pads out just makes the seat unstable. They are not supposed to be removed as they add padded resistance against the front pin and lock on the back.. Just tried it on my 821. To be clear removing the rubber pads is not the correct way to lower the seat.
That’s right! There are plastic caps under the seat itself that have to be removed to lower without removing the rubber pads. I wonder if the lower seat have those plastic caps as well.
Hey! Awesome video! You gave me hope! I’m 5’ tall (short legs) and just got a Ducati Scrambler. I love this bike, but even with the stock seat all the way down it’s too tall. I thought some high boots might help, but I’m just too short! I like the idea of getting a lower seat to help get at least 1 foot down a little easier. Do you have any recommendations on where I can go to find the lowest seat possible? Is this a custom made thing or?... 🤔 Appreciate the help so I can get out there a ride this baby! ☺️
Mindy, you want the ducati 20mm lowered seat. Here is the SKU: 96880171A. Just Google it. It's like $250. That's your first step. Next step is to adjust the tension in the spring and make it softer so that your weight can help the bike sag just a little bit more. Those are the two least labor intensive things to do. The final step you can take to get just a few inches more is to get a new spring plate at the rear suspension unit and then adjusting/lowering the front forks. The spring plate is about $150. Every little bit helps. Let me know how it goes!
Get one strong person on each leg, and then 2 more holding your arms. Have them pull as hard as they can, maybe stretch you out 1 or 2 inches. Yeah, it might hurt, but it would be well worth it, lol. Seriously, I'm vertically challenged as well, and it can be frustrating when you love a bike, but you can't safely touch the ground. Good luck!
Hey man if i may ask what is your inseam? i have a pretty short inseam at around 700mm which is 27.5 inches and height at 5'3 inches. I really love the Monster 1200 and maybe will get one next years or the year after. I'm just curious as a short rider btw.
