Not only did you answer the questions i had about each helmet you addressed things i never even considered . Very informative video based on real world experience! Great video! I had the Oxygen for two seasons and last season got the Mission. I wear glasses when I ride and had a lot of fogging issues with the Oxygen on really cold days. No fogging with the Mission, my glasses stay dry and crystal clear. I removed the breath box, but the helmet is always plugged in.

    Hey Mike! great video! I needed to buy a new helmet mid-season (couldn't wait for your review, even though I knew it was coming). I went with Mission. I do love that you don't need to plug it in. You are right about lack of neck skirt. I always wear a high neck warmer with it. I never need a balaclava under it (though the coldest I rode with it was -25). As for the cheek pads in the Mission, lots of people find them too tight. Retailers can order you a size up if you request. eg. my helmet is a medium, so they ordered my size large cheek pads. In the end I didn't need them, the padding got worn down, or I got used to them. But i know a lot of people had the same issue.

    My BRP Modular 2 is still my favourite, I love the mask for exhausting breath out the side and not having to be plugged in. I need a new one, but don’t like some of the drawbacks mentioned about that mission with the neck skirt freezing up - I regularly ride in -25 or lower for long periods of time.
    I may try it out, maybe I’ll have to look into fixes for that.

    Hi Mike, thanks for following up with the end of season review. I’ve been waiting for this since you mentioned it last year. Like you I’ve been running both helmets and switching off (for three seasons now) and one major disadvantage of the Oxygen that’s pretty well known is at high speeds, like on a lake for example, it pulls up… hard. Something with the aerodynamics I’m sure. I’m actually on my second Oxygen, the first one failed and the dealer had to swap it out. At 32:00 you mention the heat settings for the visor, but that is false. The green indicator is for the visor, but the low, medium, high orange light is for the heat in the element in the top of the helmet. Thanks again, looking forward to more like this one.

    • @edileo2112
      @edileo2112 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Not so sure you are current one the operation of the controller. If you measure voltage at the contact points on each side of the helmet, they change from 6 to 9 to 12 volts as you change the settings on the switch. I believe those points and connected to the shield element as well as the garage. I could be wrong, wont be the first time.

    • @sledaddicz
      @sledaddicz  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Dominator. Funny enough I actually find that the mission pulls up much more at speeds due to the sun peak then my oxygen ever has. In terms of the visor, the green indicator just tells you the heated element is working, and the orange lights tells you the amount of heat the element is producing. Cheers, Mike

    In the USA shield warranty is easy assuming the dealer has spare shields on the shelf and is willing to help you. The dealer files a warranty claim with Kimpex and will be credited back typically within 48 hours with no need to ship the defective shield back to Canada. If Kimpex is out of shields and the dealer doesn't have any that is where you can run into wait time issues. If the dealer has replacement shields and is willing to give you one the process is simple. Kimpex has been encouraging dealers to stock excess shields in case of warranty. I believe the process may be different in Canada but this is how it works here in the US.

In the end the dealer gave me a full refund for the mission and $100 dollars off on a new Oxygen. Haven't looked back. I did a review on the MIssion and had a lot or riders asking about wearing glasses. I have not put up my review on wearing glasses yet, but I find the mission to be almost too tight for glasses. My glass frames are smaller than Mike's frames. I was able to wear them for roughly an hour but I had issues with the mask and the nose piece of my glasses. The mask kept closing over my glasses on the nose vs coming against my nose just below the glass frames. Though the helmet is designed for glasses, I was not impressed. As for fogging, once the shield was closed, the glasses cleared up very quickly, like under a minute and even quicker as I move forward on my sled. I am a mouth breather, almost never thru my nose and not once did my glasses fog, nothing. I was very impressed with that aspect of the helmet. So, in conclusion, definitly try the Mission on with glasses. You know right away if this will work or not. As for me, I do not need my glasses to ride. I hope this information helps.

    If the mission breathbox is anything like the one on my Modular 3, it'll suck all the warm air out, the only time Ive had to plug in was when it was snowing, -30*C and i had build up on the visor from going slow and i had to open it to check the maps, the condensation from my face and the cold air caused the inner lense to frost up.
    The breath box system may be a little more confined, but it's really a great system and I'm not sure i can go without it. The freedom to move around without having to worry about cords or a cord failing is great

    Any ideas about the oxygen ear muffs folding your ears over and making it uncomfortable when you are putting the helmet on ????

    • @sledaddicz
      @sledaddicz  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Brad. That hasn't been an issue for Mike and I at all and that shouldn't happen if your wearing a balaclava. Also the ear muffs are velcroed and can be removed and repositioned to whatever is most comfortable for you. Cheers, Jesse

    Have you guys ever dealt with cardo on a warranty issue? I’m having a hard time with them right now. Battery is pooched after a couple of uses.

    • @sledaddicz
      @sledaddicz  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Richard! I have had microphones replaced under warranty but never the actual unit itself. When you say the battery is pooched what exactly do you mean? It's only lasting a couple hours? That is unfortunately relatively normal. That's why we just run battery packs in our jacket to keep our cardo's charged all day long. Cheers, Jesse

      @@sledaddicz hey thanks for the reply! I am happy to say that after a bit of a back and forth, cardo is fully replacing the unit. Battery would only last 20 minutes. I purchased 6 edges this year for our crew after hearing your reviews. We are super happy with them. I’d go so far as saying they are a game changer. Boys love the tunes and chirping. For me and my business it’s awesome as I have to be available 24/7 to take calls. Appreciate your channel.

    Is there any way to run the electric shield without plugging into a snowmobile? Could i just have an external battery pack? Or would i need to modify the plug?

    The oxygen is a far better helmet for comms vision sun visor and the rear light is a massive feature for rider safety . The mission works better on warmer days. For my money the oxygen is the better helmet.

    • @jamesmullen75
      @jamesmullen75 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I’ve ridden in -30 conditions for multiple days in the Mission helmet and was toasty warm in it.. and, bonus, never had to even plug the helmet in. Two Oxygen helmet shields failed on that trip and almost ruined the day for everyone because you can’t really ride in those temps with your shields open. Fortunately they packed spare shields just in case. I will also challenge the vision claim.. in the O2 your face sits so far back into the helmet that you can see the shell in your vision. In the Mission the shield is much closer to your face so you don’t see the helmet. The Mission will also have an available photochromic electric shield next year so kiss the internal sun shield goodbye. The O2 helmet is almost unusable is temps above 20f because the heated garage roasts you. I can add a $45 Biteharder light and still be hundreds cheaper. I’ll give it to you on the comms part though lol
