    Hi, Nice vid again 😉 I tried the new firmware version and tested the analog latency. Found the same results as you, about 10 to 15ms more latency then the fatshark (hd2). The latency in digital mode when recording in the air unit looks fixed now, I don't see the difference anymore. Did the initial tests on the first firmware. Maybe they already fixed this in the first update, didn't test that in that version of the firmware. Greetings

    This was a nice update and I am pleasantly surprised how fast DJI is updating! Funny part is I'm used to no BF OSD after flying DJI HD exclusively since August. Now that they fix it I'm switching to KISS with the FETtec stack and wont be able to use it.
    Also it makes me sad when folks don't fly due to weather, just conformal coat your gear! For the AU & Cam I just put small pieces of electrical tape over the USB and SD slots then conformal coated all of the seams. The for the antenna and jst port I just dabbed on some liquid electrical tape. I fly in any weather and from inside the house to stay warm! The liquid tape comes off the jst and antenna ports nicely too.

    • @Rcschim
      @Rcschim  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Flying from inside the house or car is an option in winter. You're right, bad weather shouldn't be an excuse not to do something (also valid for running...)

  • @5zero7RC

    According to DJI's FAQ page, they state, "The video transmission latency will not increase if you record videos with the DJI FPV Goggles. However, the video transmission latency will increase about 5 ms if you record videos with the DJI FPV Air Unit Module." I do see that the latency reported in the goggles seems to increase slightly when recording on the air unit. I have not tested this with the latest firmware however.

    Great vid. Update seems pretty buggy my end. Have had issues changing pids until I power cycled and more worryingly in flight I get a random notice saying I’m in an open channel, which I presume means my goggles have changed channel, although I haven’t checked yet. Also LQ doesn’t appears to work for crossfire, only rssi

    • @shambler01
      @shambler01 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Can confirm that with the open channel. It was just a blink of a second. I did not worry that much about it. Thought its just a glitch. For the LQ you have to to it the old way where you map it to the rssi value.

    Nice work as usual. Just need some points of clarification. Does the rapidfire add 10ms of latency to the FS goggle? What mode was tested on the rapidfire module? So can i assume the 0 latency of the FR632 diversity includes the fs goggles latency?

    • @Rcschim
      @Rcschim  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks, I didn't measure the impact of rapidfire magic. I used the mode 1 here, but I guess it doesn't add any latency but this needs more testing.
      Fr632 has 0 latency, latency on fatsharks probably comes from screens.

    • @dafadashamsta
      @dafadashamsta 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Joshua B No hate intended. I learnt most of what I know about the hobby from Bardwell. His older videos can be long and over drawn. My short attention span makes me bored quickly . The lights turning on and off made me more attracted to this video. No the new update does not remove the higher output in the DJI. If you have issues, simply place the hack file back onto the SD card. Look for the new goggle foam on DJI website which takes care of the light leaks also.

  • @leivurjoensen190
    @leivurjoensen190 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    In the end of the video, did you test the dji on digital or analogue? does the dji analogue have 15ms latency?

    • @Rcschim
      @Rcschim  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That's my fault - with the diode being not sensitive enough I have to increase zoom level on osci. That gives me a broad and jerky yellow line which is sometimes hard to judge.
      In the tests after the update it was pretty clear that latency is 20ms. 15ms would be too optimistic.

  • @nothinhappened
    @nothinhappened 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hi, thanks for this video. I am deciding which goggles to go with, I would like DJI but also an analog option. My concern is the analog latency with DJI with rapidfire adapter.. Do you know what the latency is now?

    • @Rcschim
      @Rcschim  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi, didnt retest the latency - but it will be around the 20ms. That's ok.
      There is / was? another issue with analog mode and DVR recording - sometimes my goggles would hang. Since the last firmware (1.0.4) this stopped - but I only had 2-3 flights with the new firmware - so it's a bit early to say this is really fixed.
      Generally I'd say those are the best goggles for me. Flying digital is the best FPV experience you can currently get.
      With analog - since I lost my trust in them (with the freezes) - I still fly with fatsharks. Maybe this will change in spring if I can fly more and see that the DJIs are trustworthy now.
      -
      I dont think that either the analog adapter nor the rapidfire will ADD latency. Most times in analog world, such things dont add latency. Only if you have digital processing - this adds latency.
      br, Mario

    • @Rcschim
      @Rcschim  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@nothinhappened with hang I meant "freeze" - the image stops and only comes back if you powercycle the goggles (I dont need to tell you this means: you crash!)
      but as I said, I only had this problem with older firmware - hope it's gone now!

    • @nothinhappened
      @nothinhappened 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Rcschim thanks for clarifying. Please do an updated video when you feel you have tested the new firmware enough. I think we would all be very interested to hear your thoughts. You make really detailed observations. They are very much apreciated.
      Can I just ask you one more noobie question.. Whrn using the adapter with rapidfire module, can we have the RF signal displayed in the DJI goggles?

    • @Rcschim
      @Rcschim  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@nothinhappened sure, after this current, nasty phase of winter I hope to be able to fly more - with that I can hopefully gain confidence with DJI goggles - I really wanna replace the old Fatsharks now. Also I think about swapping the rapidfire out from fatsharks to DJI. Currently I test the clearview goggles module on the DJIs...
      -
      since the DJI goggles just display whatever the modules show you see the same picture as on other goggles. so all OSD functions are the same and you see the rapidfire RSSI bars.

    Did you test analog latency on DJI? 10ms or 20ms?

    • @Rcschim
      @Rcschim  5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      20ms

    • @marlin-fpv
      @marlin-fpv 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      10 or 20 ms, in a first person shooter world I definately want to be the guy with 10 ms. ;) At a speed of 150 km/h it's a disadvantage of ~ 4 cm. Guess we can live with that. Now all I need to do is do test the additional foam before changing from HDO to DJI goggles. The fit with the stock foam was not so nice. The picture was awesome, have to see analog through DJI first though. How is the analog picture like in the DJI? Better than the HDO?

    • @uavtech
      @uavtech 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Also folks that don't tune out their quad to have the Gyro track Setpoint (sticks) with Feedforward can have 20ms of lag in their quad response to sharp inputs. See www.screencast.com/t/yqjkJkU3. This is a tuned PID controller without FeedForward. Ironically, folks like the feel of quads without FF (FF=0). So they like they feel of a lagged response. Of course, it adds on to the 10ms of response different, etc... But point being you can compenstate for any glass to glass latency if you are not using FF by starting to use FF if you are sensative to it.

    • @Rcschim
      @Rcschim  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@marlin-fpv I didnt compare the analog imagequality against my old Fatshark DomHD(v1), I remember vague that the HDO was better colors but smaller FOV than my DomHDs. So maybe the colors from Oled are still better than the DJIs - but the large FOV and the nice screen quality are good here.
      If the plug in AVin isnt connected firm, I had some distortions and darker image on the DJI. But other than that it looked good to me.
      I will see if I can fly a few packs this weekend with my analog Acro Speedybee using the DJIs...
      I think even analog sources get an nice update when viewed with the DJIs.

    do you think dji goggles are harmful to the transmission of waves in the brain? and if, in these glasses, you mount an external module for the analog, the problem of transmission harmful to the brain remains?

    • @Rcschim
      @Rcschim  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Honestly I dont think so. Read different scientific articles about it and it comes down to: RF radiation "heatens" up the human near it. how deep the RF radiation can "penetrate" your head (your brains) depends on the frequency. Higher frequecy means less penetration. So only a low frequency (900mhz) with a lot of power could enter your head and boil your brain :) (I'm talking about mobile phones).
      It doesnt change anything if you use an analog module.

      @@MaverickFPV I doubt that you feel the difference. It's good that their control link is that fast - but this should not be a reason to use their radio.
