How to stop fan noise from a CCTV dvr or any other similar devices

- DVR's or any other devices if the fan fitted on chassis after a time gets worned out and starts making noise ,to stop this the fan has to be fitted on a shock absorber, fans are usually fitted on chassis to cut the cost or save space, dropping the voltage may also cut the fan noise
Worked great. Also you can add a rubber washer on bottom and top of fan to stop vibration noise to both up and down chassis. No noise to the point I thought I did not connect the fan.

i just pulled the fan out. Stand by, it's working so far. still working.

It is mounted vertically so that might help with convection. The silence is bliss

What size fan are you using? Are all hikvision fan the same? My fan on mines is extremely loud. Sounds like a jet.
I just want to ask if Moving the fan to that place would cause problems to the mother board. I noticed that the fan was directed to the motherboard in the first place. Does dislocating its original place affect the cooling process of the mother board?
Absolutely not, it's not like pc motherboard, it may surprise you but the fan is not actually for circuit board ,its for HDD, i am a security installer in UK
I mounted the fan with a thick piece of (3M) two sided tape on the bottom which holds it upright and acts as a buffer between the fan and the DVR back plate. It works great!

Does your DVR's fan stay on after you shutdown the system from the operating system software? My DVR fan only goes off when I pull the power supply plug out of the mains socket, is this normal?
Absolutely, Modern DVRs fans directly connected to 12v input, why do you want to keep the power and turn the DVR off softly anyway, it's not a PC
@@pjoskar1 Thanks for replying. I have had the DVR around 6 years and had to open it up to clean the clogged fan and I simply couldn't remember if the fan normally stayed on after I shutdown the box from the software. I thought the fan staying on may have been a sign of a fault :-)
@@Downloader77 Modern dvrs operated with linux operating system, you can simply plug of and back on ,this doesn't affect its operation, however it's not recommended often, it may affect HDD

i need to put a fan on mine's cpu i wonder of a pi fan will fit i'm hoping its 40mm so i can get a noctua then my system would run better its throttling atm i may put a 2TB NAS SSD in it to help it out, o just put a throw away 1TB spiny drive from
my ps4 the old one was going it'll last 6-8 months and spiny drives are useless i have 1TB, 750GB left to go in there, i have some 2 500's *( 1 SSD 1 spiny )* but thats not enough recording time for me *( got a cheap 128GB Leven JSR-800 for $10 bucks 1TB's are like $60 so if its fast they'll be going in everything except my gaming PC that will be a NVME 1TB WD black 7000mgbs read and a 1TB 2.5" PNY or WD Blue SSD for a game drive )* i was amazed by how much clearer the picture displayed i didnt think it was gonna change that mine is a 9 channel security system
