Damn dude your understanding of Steve is wild, and the way you explain is also really nice. I have quite a few hours on Steve and I learn so many things in these vids.
These are good tips. But when you have the read to side-walk a Kazuya for example, you can go for f+2,1 +f into PAB+uf2. This will always connect and you get a free launch. The f+2,1 can whiff due to a high crush, but you can go for df+2 into duck-in into skyscraper. This will also connect.
I am a diehard Steve fan, I pray we get buffs in the future and better mechanics. I’m just happy my fundamentals are solid enough to keep my head above water in the game
Thanks so much for making these! Steve is still fun but dang do I feel like I gotta work a bit smarter to get stuff going. I'm glad you're making resources to help us out!
Yup, right now Steve has to work harder than most of the cast to get started. It was kind of his identity in prior games but back then he had massive reward for proper play. Nowadays he doesn't get rewarded as much because the meta has shifted away from the traditional movement and poking in the past games so he has to work harder. But the feeling of getting wins with him and finding those sweet counter hits is just so 👌 Glad I could help out!
2:53 - Be careful for that 😂...and just for tip, be careful with Dragunov QCB 1 that backswing elbow does tornado on punish and not only wildman, but PAB 2, and 2+3 a.k.a Startup Heat gonna whiff even it close to wall 😅
God damnit i think im gonna have to jump back on Steve. He just looks too damn fun and rewarding. I got paul to purple and shaheen to tenryu and now that i have somewhat fundamental skills i think Steve is finally gonna be accessible, tried to play him as my first character and that was way overwhelming lol
I remember you! Yeah now that you've built up your fundamentals to purple it's a bit less daunting to play Steve now. His execution is still gonna be a little bit tough to learn but his gameplan is gonna be easier since he is just poking and spacing with big reads
@@Dunkaholic18 short answer is 121 or 21 for quick highs, df1 for quick mid, d1 or d21 for quick lows. If you have plus frames, qcf1 or df2 for beefier and more rewarding mid and stomp for low. Work your way from there until you get confident enough to add more moves and stances to your repertoire.
Soul, after the 4:22 FLK launcher, what inputs did you for follow-up? Weave into FLK again? Thanks! PD: How do you do that Machinegun cancel ender? I don't seem to get the timing right or something
Ahh, this was Steve's combo ender in T7 I brought back but modified for the T8 system. It is instant FLK 1 d1. I'm actually going to put it in one of my tips videos in the future 😄 This has better wall carry + wall splat than a regular sonic fang ender so it's good to do when the wall is awkwardly far away for sonic fang to hit. As for getting the machine gun to land, here is a tip: Steve is in FLK from frame 1 of your input. Meaning you don't have to physically see him enter the stance to access stance moves. The moment you hit b3+4, you're in FLK. So what this means is the moment the second hit of f21~B hits, if you are holding back, you can immediately transition to ducking in by pressing f3 and inputting machine gun punches. Hope this helps you friend!
@@soulxcv Oh okay, fair. That actually makes a lot of sense, thanks dude! I enjoy playing Steve ever since T7 and want to keep improving on all these aspects thanks to your guides/gameplays even if he feels weaker in T8, he's unique and complex. Just as a suggestion for you YT channel, personally, I'm stuck on Mighty Ruler so maybe you could (as an idea) make a guide series discussing what aspects to focus or improve on each rank as to gradually develop better defense/offense etc. Looking forward to your next boxing bout! ^^
@@NearT8 that's a fine idea if I'm not stuck in purple myself 💀 My Steve WAS Tekken King in T7 but that doesn't matter now cuz I just can't seem to adapt well to the T8 system just yet. Too many guessing games and too many things that force not playing the neutral
@@soulxcv Exactly, and Steve's lack of a true 50/50, lower damage in general, LH being the mixup stance and B1 not being as powerful as in T7 makes him kinda weaker. I just got Flame Ruler by playing more patient but I still got a loooong way to go. As a sidenote, If you don't mind, could I add you in Discord, Tekken or somewhere you feel comfortable with to discuss stuff from time to time, play together, watch replays etc? I reaaally want to improve and I learn a lot with you. Thanks!
f2 1 has a very long range and it moves Steve forward. He can easily get the wall hit from 3 steps away without dashing. So you don't need to dash. From my distance in the example I only pressed f 21 when the opponent hit the wall. From a farther distance than this, you can opt to walk by holding forward then press 21 when he gets into range. For an even LONGER distance, double tap forward to dash in, tap back once then forward 21 again.
Question - what is the input for the two-hit you do right before using Steve’s Gatling gun after wall splatting the enemy? For the life of me I can’t figure it out so I can’t capitalise on wall combos as much lol
Flicker is 1 frame faster than pab, after flicker into duck the gatling is very tight but it is possible to buffer 1+2 input after duck. What I do is during duck i hold 1+2 then let go and mash 1+2. This way you cant miss the timing
I'm flattered, but I'm far from being the best Steve player out there! You can record a few of your matches and I can help give you some advice if you'd like!

I had no idea UB2 was +4 on block, now i know to use that move more sometimes
That bounty hunter thing is sick
great vid, always cool to see specific little strats as opposed to big overview vids keep it up

Good tips bro, especially the last one, I discovered it recently and now I use it a lot because of its effectiveness!!

It is: 2 1 hold back into flicker then 1 into gatling. You have to do it Quick
Glockman is correct. But if you're far from the wall, forward 2,1 back; then duck into Gatling is the go to option.
