Tekken 8 - Steve Fox Gameplan GUIDE

- Hello guvgang,
I made this video to show you how I play Steve, and how he is GENERALLY being played. Note that different players have different styles and being the very complicated character that he is, other people have very different styles of playing Steve. Fighting Spirit uses lots and lots of ducks to threaten ws moves and do PKB lows from duck-ins, all while being very safe. Heera Malik relies on a lot of big reads and explosive plays, utilizing Steve's entire moveset.
Included in this video are your best buttons in each scenario, how to land more counter hits and utilize B1 better, using his movement, some setups, frame traps, and more.
I hope you enjoy!

One of the best videos i've seen this first month of the game. Everything super clear, explaining the important things. Very useful for someone like me who is starting to use Steve now after all these years
Appreciate your kind words friend!
same
Now THIS is a guide. Gameplan, important strings, and visual examples. All killer No filler. Doing the lords work out here. We appreciate it 🙌
I appreciate the kind words my friend!
Oh my god the timing of this upload couldn't be any better. I've hit a plateau with Steve and was having a hard time figuring out what to do, and this video pretty much answered my questions and showed me the way. Thanks so much for this guide! Also very nice jazz music selection.
Thank you friend! I hope this helps you a lot
Tekken 8 is my first ever tekken, and my friends said i was nuts for picking steve as my first character. Thank you so much for this, this is a game changer for me ❤
Appreciate it my friend! Steve is definitely gonna be a challenging choice as a first character, but play at your own pace and you'll see how fun and unique he is
Steve is fun. He was one of my first characters too. Him and King. As soon as I hit the kick button and he started bobbing and weaving, that was it for me. I was sold lol.
Oh yeah! When you bob and weave through your opponent's attacks and counter with your own, you're gonna feel like a proper badass and the feeling is just 👌
respect, steve is one of the hardest characters to learn but he's super fun
yeah bro, steve is unique and hard to master btw
Steve fox gameplan guide are the 4 golden words I've been looking for!
In case you're wondering where I got the chill lofi tunes for this vid, here ya go!

The best guide I have seen! I really like how you actually showed examples and explained the basics, very helpful as I am just picking up Steve for the first time.
Can’t tell you enough how much your Steve tutorials helped me improve. Thank you! Peace.
Appreciate the kind words friend!
Omg i cant thank you enough for this as a visual learner the examples, the clarity and depth you go into Steve is exactly i was looking for.
Very well made video. Great pacing, just enough facts without overloading the viewers, super chill music, and one of the best indepth guides ive seen yet. Thank you for making this!
Thank you for your kind words!
If only videos like this existed when I started learning Steve a few years back. Fantastic video, guv gang!❤
I was waiting for a vid like this thank you!
Omg I struggle with the back 1 and possible frame traps. I think I understand it better now. Thanks a lot
one of the best tekken guide i saw so far
I just picked up steve 2 days ago and was a bit overwhelmed by all of his Stances he actually has but holy shit your videos are so Easy to understand and Replicate in Lab so i can get a deeper understanding of him. Still Struggling but atleast learning. Boy oh boy i never thought i would fall in Love with Steve :D Keep it up man and thanks for Sharing some Steve knowledge !
You refreshed my brain) Sometimes I'm forgetting what I should use. It's nice guide for begginers. Well done
Great stuff, quick break down straight to the point
this is my first tekken game and i immediately just gravitated towards steve but ive been struggling a bit. currently ranger so this helps a lot man thanks
This is a solid guide. I love boxing characters, and it helps me when you show me what I can do 👍
ive been playing tekken for a while now, and ive gotten quite far, i think (blue peak in 7), maybe im wrong. But, your video verbalized a lot of the concepts i was doing and trying to understand in my head on “instinct” and knowing better now how to think, the purposes of different things like movement, and the kind of tendencies to look out for really helped. thank you so much!
you deserve more views bro, thanks for this and quick start video. keep it up!
wow, that's an awesome crazy work, thank you very much!!!
Thank you so much for this guide, have started to struggle ALOT in tenryu and going up against rulers, i just picked up steve for the first time and just started playing in late into Tekken 7 so I started to be completely lost versus people who know Steve and just guard and duck everything.
I been waiting for this video cuz everyone else’s assumes you’ve played steve in tekken or just tekken in general
Thank you so much for this. This is the first tekken game that I’ve tried taking seriously and I hit a slump learning the game and Steve. My gameplay is getting stale, I’m not landing combos, etc. I wanted to try to learn the game by myself but I still eventually come back to guides, and I really appreciate this one. From the music to the easy explanations, I really appreciate it
Hey likewise, I very much appreciate the kind words brother. It's my first time doing these sorts of things out of the passion for the character and helping other people see how cool Steve is. These uplifting comments make me so happy. Cheers!
No doubt in my mind that this is the best overall guide I’ve ever seen. It was very useful , loved all the example. Not to mention the chill music . Sub!!
Thanks for your kind words friend! I hope this helps you out a ton
Thank you for making such an incredible guide!!
very very well done guide. subscribed. expecially the b1 placement
I'm glad you found it useful!
This video alone earned you a sub from me. Ive been playing Steve since T4 and have only gotten worse with him as time has gone by. Right now im stuck in Red Ranks and cant seem to move the needle. This will really help me. I will be referencing it often. Thank you.
damn that's a really clean guide for tekken, never seen one like this one congrats
I like how you made this guide it is very easy too understand cheers bro!
Super good video! Very informative, thank you for your work!
Thank you friend, I appreciate the kind words :D
@@soulxcv it is always good to give positive feedback when it's well deserved. I know the amount of work it needs to produce this type of video and the impact of kind words have on content creator!
Subscribed! Your content has helped my Steve gameplay alot. I now have a go to juggle when I launch or counter hit someone. Thank you!!
Thank you for the kind words friend!
I appreciate this tutorial i been doing tutorials on mk. But the way you broke this down was a masterclass
damn man, this was beautiful, i was trying to improve my steve but had no clue to start where, this was the thing i needed
Glad it helped you out friend!
Gotta treasure these early T8 Steve guides. I rotate between Reina and Steve and the amount of learning resources Reina has compared to our CH paragon is huge
You know a guide is good when you come back to it whenever you feel stuck. At purple ranks rn and i feel alot more comfortable than when I started but occasionally I do feel the need to come back to the basics and start from the ground up.
I am touched, thanks for the kind words!
Thanks for the guide man. I played a Steve mirror match with you in Tekken 7 player match and I'm glad you're doing a guide for us Steve mains. I've been playing Steve defensively so the gameplan tutorials will help me a lot especially with the new heat system.
GGs brother, would love to play again. I bet I'd learn a lot from you 😀
This guide is amazing thanks
Very good vid made my day
Super cool guide! Thanks!
Ayy you're welcome!
amazing guide, earned a sub for this
Straight to the point stuff. I just subscribed.
Yo one of the best guide so far since the game launched. Good job, i also main steve hardstuck in yellow rank. Its a useful guide for a player like me, even general.
Amazing video I’ve been wondering how to do so much of these moves and you nailed it. Great job you earned a subscriber.
Thank you so much!
Awesome guide i needed
thank you, very good explanation
Just what I needed
Kept spamming b1 hoping for counters and not realizing instead of meshing randomly for b1 and flk b2 play the pressure counter game with reads and patience using all of Steve’s tool and Tekken fundamentals. Great video chief🫡
Glad to hear that fam!
amazing video!
amazing guide
this is my first tekken game and ive picked dup steve since day 1. its been rough but this vid helped clean up a lot of my offense and pressure. thanks :))
Happy to know it helped :D
One of the best guides I've found, already my Steve is getting trickier for my opponent to predict or read
Glad to have helped!
Just what I need, thanks. This video is very useful. I can put it into practice and maybe rank up.
Have fun!
Thanks for this video, man!
Thank you for making.
Great guide man, thank you
You're welcome!
3:00 saving this for myself great video
Super clear and logical
As a new Steve player this guide is perfect for me! Thanks so much!
You're welcome! Hope you enjoy him as much as I do and welcome to the guvgang
Amazing video thank you so much!
Another frame traps:
d2,1,2 or 3+4,2 on block into backsway 2(high risk high reward)
pkb df1,2 on block into parry
Ayyy I love these. Thanks fellow guvgang
Tq so much for this guide..it help me play steve better
Clean bro
Excelente video, It helps me alot
Amazing guide. I main Reina and yse Raven as a secondary. Picked up steve today and he is a blast. This guide gave me more tools to my arsenal. Thank you very much!!
Hope you enjoy playing him as much as I do!
@@soulxcv I've always enjoyed playing Steve, but was never that good with him. I switched my style up and now I win a good amount with him. I used your advice and now I'm winning more consistently. Had no idea his peekaboo stance was so oppressive. It really frustrates people and they make mistakes. I can't thank you enough.
This is what I was looking for as a Tekken 8 beginner +1sub great job man!
Thank you!
Thank you so much i started hitting a wall at garyu and couldn't get farther from how I was playing
awesome!
Im a Steve main and I aprove. Also learned alot! Thanks!
everyone says steve is a bad first character if youre new to tekken but idc hes just too cool thanks for this guide
You should play who you think clicks with you best. Hope you have fun with him!
Masterfull work, did not know about oki after pkb2 on punch parry
I only learned of it recently as well! I fought a Steve player online that did it, but I don't have the footage anymore and forgot the name so I couldn't credit them properly for it.
THIS is a great example of how to make a tutorial video for this game
Steve at the start was doing really well but at some point the pressure wasn't cutting it with hitman pressure so this is a big help
Wake up y’all the perfect Steve guide just dropped
very good job !
nice guide, thanks
Thank you!!!!
I feel your pain man with that Nina fight, happened so many times with me in Tekken 8. But I’m glad to finally be learning Steve from your vid and hopefully preventing those comebacks from happening XD
Yeah but on the flip side, that was one hella fine comeback she did!
Thanks for this . Keep up the good work bro. Im also happy that they made Gatling Gun easier it was always holding me back playing him in T7 .
Thank you bro! I'm happy with the Gatling changes too, as much as I love execution, I swear I'm gonna develop Carpal Tunnel Syndrome everytime I do my wall combo 🤣
@@soulxcv i can electrics , wavedash , omen, Nina butterfly loops and all that crap but i couldnt pull of gatling in T7 . Weird asf 😂
I'm a complete beginner for tekken 8, first tekken game, and i love boxing so of course i had to choose Steve. Any chance you could do a beginners quick guide? Like just a couple BnB's in mid screen + wall?
That combined with this would help a ton for new players. Looking forward to more videos!
EDIT: Sorry I see the quick start guide video, watching now!
thank you so much my friend
Always welcome!
WE NEED MORE OF THIS ON TEKKEN 8 CHARACTERS
thank you
You're the best man
Wow love the in-depth explanations on exactly what Steve's best tools are in certain scenarios. The smooth jazz is nice a touch. Also @ 10:02 is that a Mayor Cody skin?
Glad you noticed! There was no steel pipe so I opted for a baseball bat instead
@@soulxcv Nice I’ve been rocking a Prison Cody skin for Steve lol.
i really like the hard work on this video amazing video also lovely jazz, i just wanna correct two things in this video
1_ FLK 1 F 1 on block it's -5 not -0 11:08
2_ 11:37 when feng he do DF1 on block its -0 and B4 its 12frame so you cant interrupt him with B1.
sorry for the long comment
Yes my thoughts on these as well. I realized my mistakes as I was rewatching it but by this time it was already too late
I didn't catch them while I was editing 😅
U got my subscribe for this video.
The only thing missing in this otherwise perfect guide is notation for the frame traps section, otherwise it is flawless and thank you for it.
This is duly noted, friend. The next time I make a guide I will make it a point to add notation where I can
Unfortunately (for the tekken community) this is probably the single best tekken guide ever created. Too bad I don't play Steve lol.
Thank you for the kind words friend 👊
hey you! u made a good video guv
the amount of stuff u can do with steve is insane
Super useful video. Is there any chance you can do this exact style of video for other characters?
Steve is my bread n' butter as I have more than 5 years of experience with him, but I have played a few other characters in the roster. Lidia, Feng and Leo were my other characters but I am not as well versed with them. Although I will study the other characters further and try to make one!
Excellent video I thought it was plenty educational. Though you might consider leaving your text boxes on screen just a little longer sometimes. I had to rewind to read them a few times. Very pleasant music choice too 🥰
This is one of the things I have to improve on, many thanks!
also be okay with losing a lot with steve against others characters, its how you learn, you can play aggressive if you're confident or be patient and know when you start doing your strings.
i remember being so angry and pissed but then i realized the ranking and prowess isn't real and at the end of the day im just trying to have fun and be better with my character.
if you slow down, you'll notice what you can do and can't do against your opponent. otherwise great guide my dude
100% this friend, I was also like this with my Steve a few years back and I keep thinking everyday if I should switch mains. He needs you to play good, not the other way around where he carries you.
god bless you
There's one frame trap you missed. If you do ub2b on block into b1, it trades with jabs for counterhit launcher
This is exactly what I needed after my ass handed to me trying to learn Steve. Thank you!
Amazing video. Could you please add the notation for the inputs on the frame traps section? I’m new to Steve and I know some of the moves but not all of them so it’s a bit hard to find what moves you are using :)
Say no more fam!
B1:
1. ws 1 2 (on hit) > B1
2. 22 (on hit) > B1 (trades with jabs but you have a full launch)
3. wr2 (on block) > B1
4. Jab (on hit) > B1 *note that you can also try this on block since you are +1 but not many players press after blocking a jab
5. df1 (on hit) > B1 *lil tricky to confirm
6. FLK 1f1 (on hit) > B1
Not B1:
7. qcf1B (on block) > FLK2 (will lose to instant buttons. You have to condition with FLK jabs first and read that they will hesitate)
8. b1B (on block) > FLK2 (will lose to instant buttons. You have to condition with FLK jabs first and read that they will hesitate)
9. PKB 12 (on hit or block) > PKB2
10. PKB 12 (on hit or block) > 1 [finish the string] (highly delayable string that has a mixup and mindgame potential with #9)
11. df1 > f3 (on hit or block) > DCKf2
12. ws 11 > f3 (on hit or block) > DCKf2
13. 21F (on hit or block) > PKB2
14. 21B (on hit or block) > FLK2
Not on the video but useable:
15. ub2B (on block) > B1 (for me this is quite risky as ub2 is a high, and if you get it to hit, it is better to get the free follow-up rather than press a B1 that will whiff. It is hard to confirm hit or block during a real match)
16. PKB f2 1 (on block) > B1 (don't try this past a certain rank, you're gonna get rekt for it. But if you do it and it works, go ahead and spam it!)
I've played you on my Steve a few times in ranked. I got whooped. Appreciate the videoa
I probably got lucky, ggs fam!
There is also a frametrap with ub2 into b1
Yes i realized I left that out; honestly it has never worked for me yet because I find that the timeframe for confirming the block into B1 frame trap as to hit into free follow-up is so tight, that you have to premeditate what you wanna do instead of hit/block confirming.
