SHIMMERING SOLSTICE at Old Westbury Gardens is an unforgettable walkthrough event of seasonal sights and sounds! Prepare to be enchanted by magical light displays that are set along beautiful meandering paths. These will lead you to the world-famous Walled Garden, the Rose Garden, and the South Lawn and Allée.
Especially designed by Lightswitch, a collective of internationally-recognized lighting, media, and visual designers, Shimmering Solstice at Old Westbury Gardens allows guest to experience what is familiar every day in a whole new shimmering light.
In a dramatic finale, you will be immersed within astonishing lights that project onto the south façade of Westbury House.
In addition to the captivating light displays, you will have an opportunity to enjoy festive food and drinks, presented by Long Island’s Lessing Hospitality Group. Shimmering Solstice is a truly must-see, family-friendly, walkthrough event that is perfect to share during the holidays and other special occasions. Catholic Health is the presenting sponsor.
THE DATES AND TIMES FOR SHIMMERING SOLSTICE:
Show dates are between November 20, 2021 - to - January 9, 2022*
*There will be no showings on: November 22-25, 30;
December 7, 14, 21, 24, 25, 28; January 4.
Entry times are available every 15 minutes, starting from 5:30 - 9:30 p.m.
The last show time slot is 9:30 p.m. and the event closes at 11 p.m.

Old Westbury Gardens is the former estate of businessman John Shaffer Phipps (1874-1958), an heir to the Phipps family fortune, in Nassau County, New York. Located at 71 Old Westbury Road in Old Westbury, the property was converted into a museum home in 1959. It is open for tours from April through October.
Scenes of the driveway and some of the ground floor interiors were used in the 1970 film Love Story to depict the family home of Oliver Barrett IV, played by Ryan O'Neal. Old Westbury Gardens is a popular wedding venue. Other movies filmed on the grounds include North by Northwest, The Age of Innocence, Wolf, To Wong Foo, Thanks for Everything! Julie Newmar, Cruel Intentions, 8MM, The Manchurian Candidate (2004), Hitch, Bernard and Doris and American Gangster.[4] Scenes from the television series Pushing Daisies, Gossip Girl and Royal Pains also used the location in filming. It served as the inspiration for the Buchanan Estate featured in Baz Luhrmann's 2013 film adaption of The Great Gatsby by his wife and production designer Catherine Martin.
