Moto Dans - I went with the CYCLOPS LED Headlight which I really like also. 300% brighter than stock - Really like it - Great video - Love your work ! Cheers Mate
Hi Dan, thinking about getting one of these units to replace the stock light as I've managed to crack the factory glass. Have you had any issues with passing warrants with the JNS unit? Cheers
Hey Will, I have had no issues getting a wof with this lamp. The one I got is the Dot Approved model. Although technically not recognised by nzta it hasn't caused me any issues.
@MOTODANS Some good info. Bought my DR new and is due for its first wof (3 years b4 first one for new vehicles), next year so was just planning ahead for the likely event the wof man doesn't like the crack
MotoDans, I jus t did a quick check. 1 US dollar is 1.61 New Zealand dollars. So, that is good. But how much are equivalent products between the US and NZ is the question?
Are you asking how much products cost compared to the US? There is generally quite a mark up as import fees add up when buying American made products. If the item is less than $1000nzd it is much cheaper to buy direct from US a d pay for shipping as under that amount I don't get charged an extra 20% import fee. If it is over $1000 it is generally similarly priced to local dealers. This goes for alot of things like my BMW gs parts are much cheaper to get from UK even likes of an oil filter is half the price even if I get it posted over. On the other hand Japanese parts like for the suzuki are generally much cheaper here
Yes, As an example: how much is a can of soda there versus the US or a coffee. Yikes, an extra 20% import fee?! wow. Sorry for that. Thanks for sharing too.@@MOTODANS
It is not road legal in this country to put an led bulb into a headlight which is not designed for it. Even still the jns is a better light over a simple bulb upgrade having 2 projectors and better design over the standard headlight.
Still not quite enough light for me I don’t think. I ordered the j and s bracket to drop in a Baja Designs Squadron Pro. That should do the trick ! Nice looking headlight you got though
Yea well like I said I would run an additional light bar if doing big night runs but it is a massive improvement over stock I also really like the look of the black background of the light.. I haven't seen that light before I will check it out
It shouldn't, even though the stock headlight fits better it still isn't a water tight seal. All the electrics are above the headlight so water contacting them would be very minimal. Haven't had any problems with mine so far
Not sure, where I live it is illegal to use either a led bulb or hid bulb in a halogen headlight. So for me it was worth the cost. Also this headlight is specifically designed for led so you are making full use of the bulb by getting correct beam pattern and light beam.
Not sure haven't tried one. If it is an led bulb they are not legal for road use in the stock headlight where I live. If it works for you though that is great 👍
For road use yes. A whole led headlight is ok. But retrofitting either a led bulb or hid bulb into a stock halogen headlight is not compliant for yearly safety inspections. Due to the headlight and reflector not being designed for the extra light / heat
@@MOTODANS I have to apologize here, I was probably too harsh in that statement. Your black headlight & front looks awesome and baited me )) and then I was a bit too upset to see the fit of it into the mask/front fairing. But it's ok.
I just installed this headlight on my 2023 XR650L and it is sooooo much better than the stock headlight. Highly recommend and worth every penny!
I just bought a 2024 DR650 yesterday, I look forward to replacing the stock headlight too. Great video, thank you.
Love my JNS on the DR650.
Me to!

Haven't seen that one will check it out.
Is it a complete headlight replacement or just a bulb? Had a look and could only see the bulb?
@@MOTODANS Just the bulb. Look at this if time permits.... th-cam.com/video/UY9XyXz1xAM/w-d-xo.html

It looks nice.

How are you liking the light a year later? How has it held up to your expectations?
Yes it is great, no complaints. If night riding is something you are going to be doing it is a must in my opinion
Why not just put an LED bulb in the original headlight? Would the JNS be significantly better?

I think I got a video on the install too...
Hi mate would water getting into that gap around the light cause issues? Just installed mine.

How did you attach the Tool Pro hard case to your rack?
Here you go, th-cam.com/video/Yqg4vVNlKd0/w-d-xo.html
How does this compare to just a H4 LED Lamp ? Is it really worth the cost ?
Not sure, where I live it is illegal to use either a led bulb or hid bulb in a halogen headlight. So for me it was worth the cost. Also this headlight is specifically designed for led so you are making full use of the bulb by getting correct beam pattern and light beam.
Is the light on all the time?...just read some conflicting info
Yes on my 2017 model the low beam runs constantly I have no handle bar switch that I can turn it off
Nice clean beam on the LED. How much power do your accessories draw?
Not to sure. It's not alot, the Dr doesn't have many watts to spare stock anyway.
I'm curious as well to know that, from the normal and high beam light.
Stock low beam is 55watts high beam 60watts. Led one is 30watt and 50 watts
@@MOTODANS have you upgraded to a lithium battery?
@@Atomicweasel666 No I haven't still on the stock one. If it ever craps out I will look into lithium they seem like a good weight saving
Hey Dan. I just changed my globe for a $30 Auxitor globe from eBay, which is brilliant. How much better than that would you say a $200 light is?
Not sure haven't tried one. If it is an led bulb they are not legal for road use in the stock headlight where I live. If it works for you though that is great 👍

Good work mate, love the vids
Thank you!
That's not an "install". Get the right mask / fairing, rid these "tolerances"- then it's an install
Not sure what you mean Artur?

I was a bit upset with the fit also. But the black light looks awesome and I hardly notice the fit anymore.
