WHO'S THE PLAYER, HUH!? WHATCHA SAY!? HAVE MERCY! UHH, GOOD GOD!
Keepin' it on The One, slappin' that bass silly in between! The real nitty-gritty aphrodisiac for your soul! Our ancestors, they all had The Funk in them when they danced together around the campfires in Africa. Not that kumbaya-jivin' sh*t, no, they were really gettin' down, dancing themselves into trance. Some wandered off to get a, more or less, pale cadaverous skin tone, but The Funk has been lurking in everyone's hip bone ever since... It makes you wonder what them muthas would think if they saw us today and all the sh*t that's been going on throughout history? In the United States slaves were forbidden to have drums. The slave-owners were well aware of the powerful communicative and unifying force that the drums could unleash (Introduction "Give The Drummer Some", in the book: The Life And Music of James Brown, written by RJ Smith). There is truly something magical about syncopated and interlocking rhythms. I'd say that The Funk is like the true vision of the world, with different rhythms and different people working together to create something truly amazing... There's more to The Funk than meets the eardrums... May The Funk always be with you and guide you through the funklessness!

Saw Bootsy's Rubber Band at Cobo Hall in August of 1977, in Detroit, Michigan. They were on tour for the "Ahh...The Name Is Bootsy, Baby!" album-I was so impressed-they did all of those intricate parts that I kind of was not expecting them to do-but they did them-everything sounded just like the original parts on that album!
And what they're doing in the above video is not indicative of what I saw them do, all those years ago, in Detroit. I think that first national tour in 1977, was for them, something they had to "prove" themselves to, wherever they played, like Prince when he came out on his first national tour in either late 1979 or early 1980-and they definitely did, when they came to Detroit!
They(Bootsy's Rubber Band) also were in my opinion, one of the all-time greatest live and recording studio acts of the 1970's or any other decade! 9-24-24.

Black people then were so talented and creative. Today black people have gotten lazy and lack hunger and desire to be creative in music and other artistic endeavors.

Go somewhere with that garbage. We're just as creative and innovative as we've always been...even with the music programs being cut out of our public schools, even with other people imitating us and doing the kinda of music we were 30-40 years ago and getting credit for being "innovators" (i.e., Mark Ronson, the entire Daptone thing, etc.), and so forth.
