The first thing I would do is take the arrangement off the table before eating as I would not want it spilling into my food. It is pretty but too big for the size table.

This arrangement was trying to be, I don't know. DRUNK? It looks like a drunk person put it together, and not in a charming way.
With most skills, you have to learn to construct correctly before deconstructing. That hastily put together look requires professional training and experience. It would appear everything I learned at college, to become a professional florist, has been abandoned in favour of those who ‘dabble’...

It's too big a bouquet for a table that size, and it has too many leaves. While eating with people, it's nicer to look at faces than foliage.

I agree it's too big or at least wide for that sized table. This would involve a separate buffet table. You can really get this full effect with a beautiful salad in an equally pretty eartheware bowl, and a few short blooms... ❤

It's not an English thing, it's a Willow Crossley thing. I find it completely charming.
So lovely, then earwigs ruin everything out of doors by crawling under, inside, in-between. Even found one crawling out of the inside of a peach pit as I was about to take my next bite! Had been in the bloom when it enclosed it in the seed development obviously. Survived by eating the meat inside the hard pit shell. GROSS. They are worse than all of the slugs & spiders which take at least an hour to find places to take over.
This is elementary.Come on , show us something new.
