What a joy to watch this morning! So grateful for folks like Max who treasure the antiques and restoration of them…those glorious solid wood pieces..not all the glued/pressed/clunky stuff of today! Max’s voice reminds me of someone in a streamed show I watched recently…can’t put my finger on it, but could listen to his voice all day. I love calling a room “a snug”. Truly evokes the feeling….thanks for presenting this loveliness, H & G, and thanks to Max Rolitt for being willing to share it!
It’s not often I want to move into a shop! I really admire his attention to detail in the mouldings, patterns and colours he’s used as the backdrop to display the pieces to their best advantage. Most people don’t even do that for their own home. I couldn’t let any of the pieces go, it looks like a country house where the contents are a family collection that must never be sold off or split up. A joy to be there with him for a few minutes this autumn morning.
the last bit... "Its subliminal....I think , surrounded by things, and this sort of constant flow and stimulation is subliminal, and it doesn't mean you've got a good taste but it sort of gets under your skin and permeates into your soul". 😍I'll be using this quote a lot.
This gentleman seems to love his furniture, skimming the beautiful pieces in the house. And everything fits the British accent as well! A pleasure to watch...
"Touched by hands"... sums it up for me. I grew up with art and browsing in antique shops with my parents and I developed an appreciation for anything handmade. It has soul. It really doesn't have to cost much either, if you visit second hand stores or garage sales. Thanks for this great interview!
It's refreshing to see antique furniture remaining in its original state as opposed to being painted over red or gray. I have several antique pieces in my home and the idea of painting over is definitely unrealistic. ❤️
Actually, there is quite a fair amount of painted furniture in the video. Some pieces made from mahogany are simply not meant to be painted in the first place, however something that is not a genuine antique is fair game for a painted finish if done properly and with some artistic skill.
Just beautiful! I loved every single thing, the paint colours, the exact furniture pieces I would have (if only), the arrangement of each room, and the owner's love and appreciation of all his treasues. One of the best videos from H & G.
Beautiful design! Very refreshing to see ones's appreciation for the natural walnut and the wear & tear, the history of the pieces. I love that not everything is painted or repainted which so many designers do. This home is absolutely lovely and very timeless design.
I was fascinated by his understanding of design, fabrication and his attention to detail. I need to watch this several times to absorb all his knowledge and appreciation of the beautiful things he’s acquired.
What Max Rollitt has created is breathtakingly beautiful. I have to admit that it fills me with overwhelming awe, outright envy, and a pang of secret guilt for loving it so much. How could one person have so much good taste?
Such a charming place with beautiful antiques. I love the grey hallway. Gorgeous colour. Amongst everything I particularly liked the jelly moulds on the dining table.
I loved this place, so cozy and everything he has displayed throughout the rooms can breathe, the color and textures are so beautifully interwoven...Absolutely gorgeous.😊
Amazing to see all this ‘context’ with such a brilliantly normal man in the middle of it all. This place is a love letter to the rescue of style and it’s forward legacy, what a mesmerising accumulation of stylish wonder and texture. Thank you for sharing this brilliance.
Stunning and beautiful place!!! I thought I had died, and gone to Heaven!!! This place is so very much my style, decor and colors, except for the dark gray room. I so wanted to purchase this place and everything in it for myself!!! Well done indeed! 👏
I so enjoyed this episode, from all the beautiful furniture to the information shared. This really is such a lovely space and just the sort of design I love!
WOW! Just WOW! Blown away by everything in this home. As Max has four sons, I'm available for adoption if he fancies a daughter to help care for this abfab collection of handmade goodies!
Oh! What a relaxing addition to a lazy long Thanksgiving weekend here in the US. Love everything about this converted barn (except his sitting on the bedroom bench with his shoes on the fabric….but it is his home and can do what he wants!) I particularly like the blue/ gray paint on the walls. Will have to go back and try to catch the name of it! Thanks for a lovely tour!
I’m always curious about how they keep the full house of antique? Does it require strict settings on temperature, lighting and humidity? I have some rare antique fabric and embroidery pieces and I have to keep them in dark with very little temperature/humidity fluctuation. They can’t be shown 24/7 unless they are functional items in house.
I so look forward to your videos. I'm grateful that you decided to keep sharing your journey with the chateau. Happy holidays to you and your family from New Jersey to Normandy!
My paternal grandfather was a cabinetmaker, trained in England around 1917. His younger brother was an artist who did quite well painting style travel posters during the 1930s. I appreciate how you leave things with their 'patina' and signs of wear. So much smooth plastic and particle board everywhere. Ugh. Keep teaching by example.
The Hungarian blanket/bed throw is called cserge, it's a rough wool fabric, it's still being made in Hungary and Transylvania.
I love the way he casually calls those gorgeous antique pieces as "brown furniture" and that brilliant yellow sofa that he's sitting on!
Soul man with authentic class

That yellow sofa is divine!

Absolutely stunning! Classic beauty. More of this gentleman!
How wonderful. He gets to build his idealized home with every sale and every find. Thank you.

I’ve purchased things from him and I live outside of Washington. His stuff is fabulous. And I do have good taste. Wonderful..
Exquisite ! The various printed lampshades alone are fabulous!!!
@@bettinarossi7908 I thought they might be hand painted lampshades? And I am totally stealing the idea... just beautiful.
@@kimclarke5018 Hi! Would you happen to know.. if the lampshades are printed fabric or handpainted?
That yellow sofa he’s sitting on ❤️
This gentleman seems to love his furniture, skimming the beautiful pieces in the house. And everything fits the British accent as well! A pleasure to watch...
What’s not to love? A feast for the senses. Texture, colour, stories ….Divine ❤
I love this man’s articulation to explain his reasoning for his collections & love of his pieces 👏🏻👏🏻🇬🇧
Coolest shop! Beautiful. You would never guess what is within the tin building.
I LOVED this. Thank you for posting it for us to view. DA
Great place and the gentleman exudes confidence.

Simply exquisite. Thank you very much for sharing.

I totally agree!❤
Totally!

What can one say, drop dead gorgeous
Oh, how I would love to visit. This is my kind of place. Love the yellow sofa.....and everything else.

Beautiful. Doesn't get better than this.
A beautiful video. What a joy
Impressive is Max's clever use of color and smart design. Even with such distinguished furniture, the home looks comfortable and lived in. Well done!

Wonderful tour indeed. His appreciation of being surrounded by such beauty, warmth and history is infectious.
Fabulous, I’ve had a very similar experience, Mum was an antique dealer & l did quite a bit of restoration. Lovely atmosphere.
Stunning place!
There are so many exquisite pieces. How I do wish I could buy a few pieces to add to my apartment.
Wonderful!

A fabulous video, thank you so much! You're missing an L in the title and the description - it's Max Rollitt, with two L and two T!
Stunning house
i like his style

An amazing collection of disparate objects whose only common denominator seems to be beauty.

Great taste
Gosh how I hate living in Australia. Makes me so homesick for culture and architecture and true true class.
謝謝~♡♡♡♡♡
Utterly delicious. Max is so attractive...
