Just did the Mojave Road for my birthday weekend! (01.08.21) What an awesome trail. My favorites were the Joshua tree forest twisties and the WHOOPS! I giggled over every one :) Thank you for the detailed write up and video. I used your GPX tracks in Gaia and it was flawless. Hope to see you on the trails soon!
Thank you for the great video. My first trip to Afton Canyon Campground was in 1973. We were running the Manx fiberglass dune buggies. We would camp at Crucero where we would ride the sand dunes. Unfortunately the area has been closed. Very fond memories
yeah, that was a cool area back in the day. It is sad how many areas have been closed that future generations will never know about. If you have any photos, please post them on our website. We would love to see them.
@@Trailsoffroad yes with the shutdown, my "back yard" got crazy crowded... and unfortunately they leave trash and I have even seen people who have dumped their trailer waste where ever they feel😒 we have many Appropriate places to do so.... but these are noob campers/off roaders.... hope they learn ...
We ran west from the soda baths to the west end in 1988 on vacation. Met a great bunch from (WC4WD) who let us tag along and got included in a video called " The Mojave Road " . Steve and Teresa Albano and the only names(4x4 group) I can remember.
@@Trailsoffroad It was. We were solo (from Tenn) and afterwards we tagged along to Camp Cady(permits into closed area) with them, got in their video and it was on my birthday too. Still have the truck I drove then too.
First time out on the trail was 1991. Got stuck in Afton Canyon in our brand new Explorer, as the canyon was completely full of 6" deep pools and I found the only 5' deep water hole. Buddies got the M 561 Gama Goat 6 wheel drive articulating truck to come out from Razer Road station and rescue me. Last year I stopped at the Razer Road gas station (after wheeling the trail in the same 91 Explorer) and met the new owners. The Gama Goat sits behind the station and hasn't run in years. They'll sell.
Awesome!! This vid came out just in time!! I am spending fours days on the Mojave Trail starting Feb 12th. If anyone else out there wants to go let me know. Especially if you are a beautiful woman who likes to get dirty. Like dirty because we are off-road...
I am planning on making an astrophotography overland trip this spring to the Mojave. I was really happy to see a new, more in depth video uploaded for the trail! Great job! Thanks for being such a great source for overland information. TrailsOffroad is always my first stop when researching a trail. I would love to see you guys cover Monache Meadows in the Sequoia National Forest.
Wow! that really sucks that they filled in the water crossing. that was the most anticipated, dreaded, anxiety inducing, and euphoric (once crossed!) part of the road! Well, i'm glad we did it before they filled it in. It was almost up to our headlights when we did it in october 2020!
Cool video - haven’t done the Mojave Trail but will be doing it next week. Since every one is talking about it. I spend my time down in the Anza-Borrego Desert or up hwy395. Will let you know whets my favorite spot. Again thank you 🙏🏻 for sharing.
We are releasing Oregon trails all the time on the website. Head over to www.trailsoffroad.com and check them out. I will try and get something into rotation as we get some good videos.
That is some great trails out there. We will have some of that in another series we are working on that should go live in Feb. Which trail on the east rim is your favorite?
Absolutely everything you need to know is on this website. www.thewave.info/TheConfluenceCode/Map.html Not many people know about this spot but I’m sure you will appreciate it. It is sacred land and you will need a permit from the navajo before traveling to the overlook. By far the best trip I’ve ever been on. If you go, take some sage and burn at the campsite. Tradition!
The rail road filled the water crossing I believe...they had to fill to Be able to access the road with their vehicles.... I was there crossing when they were filling it...
That was the story we were told. I guess the BLM didn't give them permission to do so making things a little interesting. But we were told they would remove it once done.

We always recommend airing down for three reasons: 1 - it helps protect against flat tires, 2 - its much more comfortable! 3 in the sandy areas you will have better traction. Can you? Yes, but you will risk flats, comfort and traction. :) Enjoy out there!
Rumors (Maybe a little better than that) - The railroad is working on the tracks. After several of their vehicles getting hydro locked / stuck they filled the crossing without the BLM permission. Rumors are this isn't the first time. And Rumors are they will remove it when done.

The main confluence view point site is where we camped. You camp on the edge of 1000’+ cliff. It’s truly breath taking.

sorry to see what they've done to the river crossing. heading out that way late march. can't wait

i guess Im quite off topic but does anybody know a good place to stream new tv shows online ?
@Maddox Caiden i would suggest FlixZone. You can find it by googling :)
@Sylas Casey yea, have been watching on FlixZone for since march myself :)
@Sylas Casey Thanks, I went there and it seems like they got a lot of movies there =) I really appreciate it!

Yes it was!
Hey there. Great video! I was wondering how narrow the main trail is and how the bad brush pinstripes are from the trail? Thanks!
not bad at all. You can find more details about the trail on our website. The link is in the video description above.
What's your favorite Overland Trail?
This is a great trail but the Dusy and the Con might be a winner.
All of them!! 🛻💨
@@Iamtheoverlander Thats the truth
@@Iamtheoverlander Yes... I am one of those people who say every day is a good day as long as you are not home.
Com-on you have an off road vehicle you can go over the track or dig under the bridge 2 to 3 feet under it.
which part?
What was the lowest clearance you had to deal with going under those overpasses bridges ?
the old highway bridge onto Manix wash was really tight. Past that nothing was bad.
Great video/trip. Planning to run it in my JK. How much fuel did you take and use?
Our highest fuel used was 27 gallons, the lowest was 12. Probably best to bring some extra fuel to be safe.
The trail is a one way trail. You ran it in reverse?
Hi David, if you are talking about Mojave Road, you can run this trail in either direction.
Good gas mileage ?? You're first off road trip ???
Nothing close, this trip was one of the first long hauls with the diesel. It was nice seeing what it would do vs previous and the other vehicles.
cant we go without changing the air pressure?

How hard was this trail? Doesn’t look to bad for the jeeps but can I roll it in a Tacoma 4x4 or my GX470 maybe?
Easily, check out our website for more details. The link is in the video description above.
Why is the price always $20.00?
Because....$20 is $20
Everyone has a price
We are surprised you can get that much ;)
Do you need to have 4x4 or can I make it in my tahoe with 6in left with 33 in tires ??
There is some soft sand in the trail. You can find more details on trail page, the link is in the video description above.

Open carry in california? Was I seeing things?
check out Calguns for details on CA gun laws. If you plan on camping remotely, it is best to know your rights.
How deep is the sand for a big Bmw motorcycle
it is soft in stops.
