yeah I'm fine with a sideboard, in fact if you go through some games and the deck is clearly a meme I wouldn't mind if you made some changes to see if the deck could be a dream.
I think it would be a good idea if Seth fixed the 'non-bos', like the wolfwillow havens and waking the trolls interaction and also the storms wrath seems a bit weird.
I completely agree. If its clear the deck simply doesn’t function. Add the sideboard or change the deck slightly in a meme-ish way to see if that helps.
@@germanyjones2700 yeah this is how i feel. I mean, i think decks that are built around a dumb idea but built to do it as well as possible are cool. Decks that are bad with purpose
Missed lethal at 30:30. Extra turn creates two more birds Nd then you can attack for 7. The opponent can block 2 and gain 3 leaving them at exactly 0 life.
Seth, proooooobably better known as Saffron Olive, I think that trying out a sideboard halfway through would make this series much more interesting. I’ve found certain episodes where halfway through I get board of the same deck losing over and over, but adding a sideboard could really help keep the deck entertaining.
I would suggest decks that are clearly memes with losing records on the last match to add the side board. The reason I suggest the last match is to keep the Meme or Dream Series intact and give decks that can or are having winning records a chance to do it unchanged
I am all for watching the struggle on bad decks but those decks that are 0-5 or 1-4 getting a sideboard done for those decks could drastically improve deck building and sideboarding for anyone that needs it. I see this as a benefit to the overall Magic Community having side board tech on meme decks.
YES. This is what I have been thinking/commenting about for awhile Seth. I think these meme or dream videos would be so much more entertaining if you play a few games and then doctor the side board and even the deck itself. It gives so much more life to the content. So many of the deck creators may actually have a solid idea behind their decks but just have bad execution. Seth you can take their meme and TURN IT INTO A DREAM!! I BELIEVE !
I'm a firm believer the lack of sideboard is what makes these decks suspicious. Winning without one is the true dream, because it means that with a sideboard plan they could really have a chance to break some meta.
I would love to see how to build a sideboard! One of the things I am not great at is making sideboards, so hearing your process on building sideboards would be a fun exercise in addition to seeing silly decks
I’d love to see a “Meme or Dream Redeemed” like either a second half of an episode or another episode where you take the core idea of the meme deck and try to make it “competitive”
Id say in a way reminiscent of Ben Bleiweiss' old Building on a Budget Article for daily mtg (BoaB!) Halfway through the league if graded as Meme, do a quick mod of the deck to see if using the same theme can be Made into a dream
Hey Seth, I'm all about adding sideboards midway in the episode. I like the idea of playing the meme, assessing the strategy, and optimizing it to convert the memes into dreams. The first episode of this series inspired me to create a historic knights deck and while these decks certainly won't be meta changing, it's nice to change things up. Great series!
Adding a sideboard seems a little against the spirit of Meme or Dream, maybe if the sideboard could only contain extra copies of cards in the main. Or if you can only add a sideboard if you lose two games or something, to try and salvage a winning record.
I like the idea of adding a sideboard/tuning a deck for the second half of the video, it lets you see potential alternative paths. I'd be super interested in it
1: The intro had me near cry laughing in my car 2: Adding Sideboards would also be a really good instructional thing for people that have a hard time with them!
+1 for adding sideboards. Also, I would like to see more weird off-meta decks like this instead of decks that are just straight up bad, like the planeswalker deck from last time.
There was a series you did briefly a while back, I think it was Fish Doctor or something like that, where you try to fix or upgrade submitted decklists. I think that would work well with meme or dream. After 2 or 3 games, you show us how you build your sideboard and what upgrades to make or nonbos to fix and try to turn the mean into a dream.
I love the theme hate on the "Giant" deck! Sideboard needs Sear Soul and Shatterskull Smashing, especially since you can make stupid amounts of mana. Update: Made updates to side board against rogues it went 1 and 2, needed to be on the draw.
Two things: 1. Totally onboard with a sideboard after a couple games of no sideboard to learn the deck. 2. What I would really really love, is a bit of a deck tech on the meme decks. (The gold standard for this to me is Firebat's Hearthstone Deck Doctor). Even as someone who knows a fair bit about magic, it would be great to see some games played and then see some deck improvements and sideboard creation. That would really put the content over the top for me, not just being something I enjoy watching for fun deck ideas, but something that is actively improving my own deck creation.
I don't know about sideboards in particular, but I do like adding an extra match in the end after you change the deck to be more functional (like adding a sideboard, improving the manabase, getting more duplicates, etc.)
Changing it up halfway through makes a really engaging video. This content is all fantastic but I do find it hard to watch all the way through when it's clearly a deck that's suffering from a lack of sideboard/a few key cards that need swapped
Agree with the many others who are saying that adding sideboards or making changes halfway through would be great. It’s been a great addition to the replay streams and would be good here, too.
I think you should definitely play an updated version of this deck! It looks really fun! Much closer to a dream than anh other deck on this show so far lol
51:38 This is an early scoop, as you could sac a wolfwillow haven to make a chump blocker. The life gain from mazemind's tome next turn, sacing the haven, and foretelling the extra turn might have bought you just enough time to get the genesis ultimatum off. I think you forgot about the wolfwillows turning into wolves in general. 1:18:27 Punt here: the only counterspell he could have is mystical dispute for a blue spell. Awaken the Trolls can't be countered and puts him back to 2 lands, which is pretty brutal at this point. Also it'd be great to see this deck retooled with a sideboard and maybe some tweaks to the list. Seems surprisingly solid.
love the intro. I bet Seth's reaction to seeing it for the 1st time was funny. As to your sideboard idea; i'd say, go till the end as usual. but then talk about how to improve/fix the deck (i.e. - add a sideboard, etc.), then play a match with the fixed deck.
For sideboard: I suggest to only use extra copies of cards already in the deck so you would still be limited to the same pool of card instead of just adding in "good" cards. Example if the deck has 2 fireballs you can add a extra 2 in the sideboard to take in.
@MTGGoldfish I like the idea of putting in a sideboard halfway through the episode! It gives the viewer an opportunity to see your thought process when you're building a deck/sideboard, and I think deck doctoring is a pretty popular content idea.
I mean you could copy extra turn spells for 4 less mana than lithoform, this deck is definitely optimizable a fair bit. The big standouts being just add the busted temur adventure creatures, take out wolfwillow, svella and lithoform, bam interaction in petty theft, roadbumps and ramp. And the adventure package naturally allows more lands since they are 2 spells on a single card
At about 30 minutes you had op dead through the Gargs. Cast epiphany, make 2 more birds. Wait til extra turn to attack and get through for exactsies even after op gains 3. They block the 2/2 bird, gain 3, take 5 from unblocked birds and die.
My vote is that you play a few games WITHOUT a sideboard first. Then finish it off with a few games WITH a sideboard. I actually think that could add a whole lot of really cool discussion about brewing potential for these decks!
Dev from SBMTG submitted a Deck earlier today based around trolling. He uses a adventure based shell which seems less meme-ish but both decks looks a lot of fun.
a walk through of making a sideboard for these decks would be quite helpful for those of us that don't know how to do that but still want to build decks ourselves.

You missed lethal game one . All u had to do was cast epiphany , don’t attack and go to your next turn. Then you had 7 total power he was at 2 and could only gain 3
+1 to adding a sideboard. Maybe they are using these decks in best of 1, but if you're doing best of 3 sideboard for sure. A sideboard is also very insightful to weakpoints of the deck and meta considerations.
At 30:25 was it not lethal to just Alrund'd Epiphany, go next turn and swing in? With the extra two birds and hit for 5 no matter what which outranges Gargaroth's heal
Yeah, I say adding a sideboard would be a good idea. Only stipulation I probably would add is it's like a basic sideboard. (I.e. a deck playing blue having 3-4 Negates or something along the lines.)
I think Wizards withholds sideboards from decks they post. Something to keep in mind about sideboards is that a good sideboard is based on what you expect to face, and if you're in a different environment (for example, FNM), you're not necessarily going to face the same kind of decks that you will in Platinum or higher on Arena. Maybe not a full sideboard but like a 5-7 card sideboard? Like for this deck, 2 negate or mystical dispute would make sense against control decks where the sweepers aren't as good. Then like 2/3 chainweb aracnir for Rogues. And that is the complete sideboard. Also easy to get cards as commons or uncommons so not just generically powerful rares/mythics
Yeah you can add a sideboard/make changes to the deck midway. It would make it more interresting to see what the deck could do if it had just a bit of help.

we srsly need a series like "path to dream" where you take the almost drem decks and actually make good stuff out of them
"The Dream Lives" might work also. That said, I'd enjoy an episode of taking a deck like this and seeing how competitive you can tune it up to

That intro was magnificent.
the way it fades out is pretty slick too
Today's intro was a remix to the song Trololol (feat. SaffronOlive) due to the nature of the deck today being Troll themed and a meme.
Thank goodness u explained it. I didn't know. n.n
Thanks!
Huh? The deck has a winning record. I think it went down as a dream, not a meme.
Cringe intensifies..
I like the "add sideboard midway through" idea!
If you go through half the league and the grade of the deck is meme then at that point add a sideboard to show it could have possibly be a dream.
