That 25 minute game was amazing, great match with quite a few strong plays which lead to an exciting back and forth. I wished more matches would be like that.

I like the self sacrifice idea to trigger the transformation. I built an AA deck based around flash threats, ie resolute reinforcements and such, and try to play it draw go. Dodging sorcery speed removal and board wipes by playing on their end step and holding up Avacyn is honestly more than most decks are equipped to deal wtih.
My favorite play with Avacyn, at GP Pittsburgh, turn 4 I played Gonti, hiding their Avacyn. Turn 5, they played a board wipe, and I played the Avacyn to protect my team.

My main Commander deck is actually a Boros Soldiers tribal deck around Tajic, Legion's Edge. I jumped into Magic way back when during original Shadow over Innistrad and really wanted to include this version of Avacyn in the other 99 as it matched the Colours. Avacyn actually works really well with this as Taijic makes her card flip a quasi 1 sided board wipe as Tajic prevents non-combat damage to the other soldiers you control - except him of course. Because the rest of the deck are soldiers the flip is fairly easy to proc too....Also swooping in to make your legion of soldiers indestructible at instant speed feels really good too LOL

The tatyova deck showcased why you don't run mana creatures or rocks in tatyova decks. They weren't able to end the game even with multiple turns of tatyova. A well constructed tatyova deck will win 80 percent of the time when it untaps (hyperbolic language for the statistics impaired).

I have a paper avacyn deck that uses a bunch of boros reckoner effects to do a lot of funky burn while also being able to trigger avacyn and taking advantage of the indestructible and it's such a silly deck I enjoy playing it a lot.
Some commanders are best in the command zone. The possibility of it being cast can stun lock people. In the case of Avacyn, they may never wipe simply because it wouldn't do anything, and you never even need to actually cast her for her effect to work.
i wish there was a good Naya control commander in historic brawl i think Avacyn goes well with a burn out strategy you can hold up stuff like lorehold command while Klothys or cinder vines burns them out
On the battle with Jolan, I am watching now. Why couldnt you have done 3 damage to every monster with Avacyn sacing goldhound then 3 more damage with Chandra to every monster?
The disallow "oops" was due to the knight ranger of eos being saccd at the emd of the opponent's turn so on your turn he would have still been able to counter something else and the sac would have been unnecessary
CGB planned on dropping Avacyn EoT. So he sac'd there intentionally. The oops was cuz dude forgot about Esper Sentinel and couldn't pay the 1 and Disdainful Stroke. It wasn't a good play and the opponent realized that.

If only there was one more turn, could have played the avacyn and the goldhound and combo'd the 3 damage with Chandra's 3 damage. There just wasn't a line for it and their deck was drawing perfectly every time

Removal spam/obession is just as immature. Not fun to play against someone who cant do anything else but play removal (thats most of the mtg arena community)

God I hate landfall decks with such a passion. Only Rouge Mill has equaled how much I dispose it. Landfall is such a dumb ability and almost impossible to stop from triggering, and almost guaranteed to happen at least once every turn. And scute swarm should have been banned day 1
Wtf, did the op with Light Paws honestly expect you to just take 7+ lifelinking dmg to the face, repeatedly for more than a turn? It’s so annoying how often people scoop at the first interaction in HB. I wish there was some sort of repercussions to prevent people from scooping at the first sign that you’re actually going to participate in a game of magic with them. Some of these people should be playing solitaire 😂. I feel like I rarely play HB even though it’s my favorite format by far, because everytime I try to play a game I have to reload through 4+ matches that don’t make it past turn 2. It takes less time for me to just round up my brothers and just play in person 😂.
