I was surprised to see another AE86 on the PCA channel, so obviously I had to check it out! 😆 I must say this one is much cleaner than the one I bought via you, and five years ago that was one of the cleanest you've ever seen. So the buyer definitely bought something special! I have to wish the buyer a lot of luck getting this one registered in Germany. I have been in contact with one person who tried to get it registered, but everything has to comply to Tüv. That means it has to be either stock (and prove it) or a Tüv approved part. He finally was able to get it Tüv approved after almost a year, but then they denied registering it. This was because he basically bought the car himself in Japan when working overseas, drove it around for a few months and they denied on the grounds he was evading taxes by doing this. So to the owner: get in touch with me and I can probably connect you with that person in Germany. 😉 Then a few corrections for Derek 😆 There is no kouki (facelift) lip on the Japanese AE86 as the facelifted bumpers already include one. There was one available on the European AE86es but that one looks totally different. This lip is a zenki (early) lip attached to a kouki bumper and it's a popular mod. The lip attaches onto the integrated lip, is mounted a bit lower and more to the front and therefore it has a much more pronounced lip. The three spoke leather steering wheel is indeed the standard one on the GT Apex trim level, however it was optional on all other trim levels. The USDM steering wheel is very different from this one and is a two spoke model with a big lump of rubber in the center. I just checked my early Canadian brochure and it indeed features the three spoke leather steering wheel on both the GT-S and the SR5. The digital gauge cluster was standard on the 3 door zenki GT Apex trim level, but optional on the kouki model. That's why you will see them almost always on the early 3 door and why my 2 door didn't have one. Finally the automatic aircon was a dealer option. By default the GT Apex would get an ordinary aircon where you could set the level of heat to add to the cool air, but optionally you could get an automatic aircon controlled by a microprocessor. Such high tech in the 1980s!
You are a good man. It's nice to see you here. Having seen both your car and this one, I think yours was in better condition... but that was several years ago when the coupes were easier to buy than they are now. I'd love if you emailed me some info on your car's current state. It's nice to see all the info you added. That's why I love your channel.
Hi Art, how are you doing? There is a small misunderstanding regarding the registration of mine. The import didn't effect the registration. Only the import fees. In Germany, if you have lived or wanted to live at least 12 months outside the EU, you can import household items (including electronics, cars, planes, boats, etc.) from a non-EU country back to Germany without paying import fees if the goods have been in your possession and used for at least 6 months. If so, you don't pay import and are not allowed to sell, rent, borrow, scrap or gift those items for the next 12 months. This rule is called "Übersiedlungsgut" and helps in moving back to Germany. My situation was, that I lived in Japan for more than 12 months with a tourist VISA extension and used my AE86 for more than 6 months, but my job contract stated 11 months and 14 days, giving me 14 days of free time on my 12 months working Visa to sort things out like moving out, closing bank accounts etc. I imported the car myself as an historically significant car with a reduced VAT (7% instead of 19%) so I reduced the cost there and I wanted to get the import costs reimbursed for the Übersiedlungsgut. But the customs denied it for the above reason. So I paid the 10% import fee and 7% import VAT. My late TÜV and registration is due the fact, that I was looking for stock parts and private issues. :)
my dream car too bad the prices are a joke now. Imma have to get a rust bucket one now. If I had to guess this thing went for 25-30k but I don't even know anymore.
If you wait and look diligently enough you can find some for a decent price. You gotta jump on it when your see them come up. But, yes, they are generally crazy overpriced these days. Glad I got mine when I did years ago.
It's a turbo Vitz that we used as a backup race car until the turbo blew and replacements don't exist. It was fun while it lasted. Now I don't know what to do with it.
Cool... Very Rare indeed.. Probably the owner need to check the under carriage, fuel tank, fuel pump mgmt, change radiator, fixed the rear hatch, change the engine (using AE111 Sprinter Trueno 1995-2000 for more torque). Detail the interior, change into bucket seats on driver & passenger (weight reduction), change front bumper (Initial D style fog light bumper) and side skirt. Paint job into the black and white panda, add the decals on the rear. It will be perfect and thumbs up for the guy in Germany.. He'll have the coolest car in the country. Say, what's the story of the red R32 GTS?? Will post on another video about it??
So you want him to make it into another generic tofu replica? Car looks perfect as is with the minor fixes that it needs, and MAYBE a smaller steering wheel than it’ll be set👍🏻. No need to ruin it with tofu spec modification
As much as I love Takumi's simple AE86 appearance, that's the exact reason these things are literally double or sometimes triple than what they actually should be. Regardless. I've seen plenty that are more original that look even better, I'd say. Two-tone red and black or all white looks phenomenal on these little hatches.

Love to see these kind of cars still on the road. I’m sure this is what the FRS will be in the future.
thing must have cost a fortune! sick car
This is super clean! It was probably parked indoors....in the top loft floor of a building.....in Dubai, and just imported back to be sold.
Wow incredible condition.
Well if you were ever going to swear on a video, it's might as well have been this one, a white hachiroku! :-D
holy shit is so clean af
Someone got $$$$$ SO GORGEOUS
I’ll gladly deliver tofus with this beast
I used to deliver pizza in one back in 2003... In Canada..
And then your going to dust a yellow rx7 fd
I remember really wanting a black limited around 6 years ago and thinking paying $20k usd for an ae86 was expensive
This would be perfect for delivering my tofu.
Hello Oda! 😊
An absolute dream
I hope the new owner keep its stock....
I think you have to keep cars stock in Germany unless you want to go through a strict certification process for every aftermarket part.
@@PacificCoastAuto oh..i didn't know
@@PacificCoastAuto shouldn't be a problem as long as the owner uses tuv certified parts.
He has matched the car to German Regulations, yet kept it more or less stock. Car looks identical like in this video.
oh man i really want one :D
Aaah… deja vu
my dream car too bad the prices are a joke now. Imma have to get a rust bucket one now. If I had to guess this thing went for 25-30k but I don't even know anymore.
You can get a good deal if you know where to look. Only the super clean panda hatches are 30k plus nowadays.

@BadDriversOfTennessee Yeah, it got even popular since Covid hit. Car prices, high demand, trend.
Now we’re talkin
1st 4age with stock airbox ive even seen
please do a video on that Vitz RS!
It's a turbo Vitz that we used as a backup race car until the turbo blew and replacements don't exist. It was fun while it lasted. Now I don't know what to do with it.
@@PacificCoastAuto very cool. I had a UK spec Yaris t-sport that I now miss, so turbo vitz are somewhat of a dream car for me!
The steering wheels on the opposite side
Im from germany and i wish i could afford one
@4:3 Gaming 😂
Also, Derek, loving the new video upload frequency, always good to see you guys staying busy. We'll be in touch soon for car #3 and beyond :)

I'd rather put a green carbon fiber hood on it for some DK vibes.
