I have been reduced to a soggy mess. Dear God!!! That was simply beautiful. I get the feeling that the members of PTX are humble. They seem able to step into the spotlight and do the lead vocals and then step back to a supporting vocalist role. That is extraordinary.

Another simple and pure classic example of acapella perfection.

This is flat-out my all time favorite love song, idc how cliche it is.
Their eye contact is what immediately drew me in when I first saw this video. Mitch... freaking angel

Mitch is amazing, and I love when Kevin sings. As time has gone on he sings more and more.

I love the line that Avi comes in on ….”Shall I stay?”…. This was his last recording with the group. Appropriate line for him.

They are masters. Another couple, that are flawless. PTX cover of Kiera’s. Gold. It’s a masterclass in singing and it’s recorded live
Their version of Come Along, Or. “Can you Feel the Love tonight”. From lion king. Is brilliant. PTX. Never disappoints

I get serious goosebumps every time I listen to them performing this song, they are just so good. Watching your reaction gives me some understanding of why. I’m far from musical, so I enjoy learning more.
Btw, did you know that Avi just released a new song, I Can’t Lie? It’s quite different from some of his other songs but that is the beauty of Avi - he masters any “genre” that he decides to delve into.

I have not seen that one yet!

'“I can’t Lie” will be on his new full album coming out 20 May. The album will also include “First Place I Go” that Avi released late last year. All his solo work is amazing, it always catches my soul. If I may make a few suggestions, I think you would appreciate “Quarter Past Four”, “Change on the Rise”, “Chains”, “Otherside”, well, basically all his solo stuff! The songs are quite different from each other yet one immediately recognises them as they all come from Avi’s soul. I hope you will do more reactions to Avi’s music.

When I first came across this song I found a 1 hour loop of this song and I just played it and got lost in it. It’s so moving, so pretty! Have you reacted to PopSpring 2016? It’s 3 originals and the evolution of Michael Jackson, it’s live and has perfect mic balance.

This was arranged by Ben Bram (longtime producer/arranger for PTX) and Kevin . You may not be aware, but, back in 2014, Avi, Ben and Rob Dietz founded the A Cappella Academy, a 10-day intensive Summer music camp for kids 12 to 18 from around the world, held (in non-isolation years) at Mount St. Mary's University in the mountains near Los Angeles (where the entire "Can't Hold Us" PTX video was shot. Kids learn vocals, performance, theory, and specialties like beatboxing and bass singing (which Avi has coached frequently). Here's a short video of Avi singing along with the students as they rehearsed this same arrangement of "Can't Help Falling in Love" (the full performance is on YT). That's Avi at the front. th-cam.com/video/z00vu_Q3nmY/w-d-xo.html

That last note actually created such a visceral reaction...like a full-on uncontrolled full body shudder. There's just something incredibly wonderful happens when Avi's bass & Mitch's tenor perfectly harmonise as well. The whole thing was just perfection. I'm pretty sure I even heard this before... fairly recently too. I don't even really like this song...well, I _didn't_, why do they have that ability to take songs you dislike and make you love them? It's like the PTX effect, someone should study that.

A beautiful song and arrangement! I'm sad this one doesn't get more attention from reactors - I could listen to it all day.
05:36 I love that, even though everyone has been very still throughout the entire video, Scott can't help himself and has to use his hands at the very end to get those final notes out! 😉

Subscribed a while back for your Pentatonix reactions. My musical background is in early music, particularly Renaissance polyphony, so I am all about the suspensions. I wanted to recommend a video from a Baroque ensemble from France called L'Arpeggiata. Their core group is plucked and bowed strings, but they bring in other musicians, including singers, for particular recordings, and their specialty is exploring how Baroque music was influenced by European traditional & folk music. They did an album called "Via Crucis" with music based on the Passion story and the guest artist on some tracks was a traditional a cappella men's quartet from Corsica called "Barbara Furtuna" (Cruel Destiny). This link is to a piece called "Maria (sopra la Carpinese)" where they perform a traditional Corsican song, accompanied by L'Arpeggiata's strings and cornetto player. I'd love to hear what you think. th-cam.com/video/bpZK_QTOtBk/w-d-xo.html

Their choice to do this in four instead of 6/8 just added emotional strength and poignancy! The final chord is an A9. The spread of the chord with Avi’s 3rd ledger-line A anchoring the bottom created this flood of overtones! Killer!

I would recommend their cover of Valentine! They have a live version which is better than their official video! The different entries of the individuals is beautiful and crazy! Here's the link! th-cam.com/video/ARRWlFndZkA/w-d-xo.html Thank you, Chris!

Have you compared this to VoicePlay's version of the same song? They both go for the slow / contemplative / no-drums approach, but the arrangements are not the same. I can't decide which one is better.

They were so great when Avi was with them.
His resonance is so superior to the rest of the group, and his sound made them.

I’ve often wondered why some fans cannot move forward with Pentatonix after Avi left. I can only conclude that they were not Pentatonix fans at all. They were Avi fans and only followed Pentatonix when Avi was with them. There is nothing wrong with that, however they should admit it.
