One of my FAVORITE songs by Pentatonix was written by Kevin and it only appeared on the Target Deluxe Version of their self-titled album. I made sure I got that version! The name of the song is "The River" I believe or "To the River" he arranged it for Mitch to sing and it's a song of the water washing away everything that's bogging you down in your life. Weighing on your heart and soul, heck .. everything! it has some beautiful harmonies as well as a decent beat to it. My whole family loves that song and I was the only one that got a good copy of it. When my daughter had her meet and greet, back when Mitch had blonde hair, she asked Kevin about the song and he barely even remembered that he had written that. But he ran all over trying to find her music to it or something like that I can't remember but she was so surprised that he actually went looking and sought her out later to tell her he was sorry he hadn't been able to locate anything for her but he tried his best. He is such a sweetheart and a very talented musician! He's just got tons and tons in his bag of tricks to draw from doesn't he?! Love that kid
@@jamescurfman3284 Thank you. That was actually in November of last year, but our first dance was to the PTX cover of Perfect. You could say I'm a fan.
This is usually sung in a lower register. PTX made it their own by letting Mitch take the lead. I really like the couple o places where Kirstie softly echoes Mitch. I usually don’t like to comment about looks because I think talent is what’s important, but Kirstie was especially beautiful and her facial expressions were great. Thanks for the reaction.
On the last verse, When Kirstie opens up that smile, it’s as if the sun just came out! And that bass 3rd ledger-line pedal note at the end just made that A9 chord ring like an organ-the strength of those overtones! WOW!
What a difference 9 months make. No overdose of PTX no world tour. Gosh how fragile we are. Wishing everyone health and safety Until we settle into a new normal. Stay safe and wear a mask 😷
Good observation about Kevin. When he is singing rather than beatboxing, they can shift from 4 to 5 part harmonies. And, although Kevin does not have a big belting voice, he is very good at harmony. Even harmonizing with himself in his looping solo videos.
This is possibly the best song PTX has ever done in my opinion and that's saying a lot! Every time I listen to it I can't help reacting emotionally to it, more than any of their other music. The beauty & simplicity of their harmony is stunningly effective and their delivery of it was exquisite. Glad you enjoyed it and thanks for reacting to it.
I've heard a lot of covers of this song, and it is my firm belief that there are just some songs that cannot be covered better than the original performer. Like everything is perfect from the get go with the song, the arrangement, and the artist. This is one of those songs. However, Pentatonix has the best cover of this song. It's almost as good as The King's original.
I am torn. they have done SO MUCH GREAT STUFF, it's really difficult to pick any one as a favorite! I think my mood has a lot to do with which is my favorite 'at the moment'. :)
I always loved it when they sang without a lot of effects. Getting to hear Avi in those melodious low tones contrasted with Kevin in his sweet high voice take the place of any instrumentation. Just set off Mitches voice beautifully. I noticed in their latest release they have put in what sounds like old school a capella ( lots of do do do's) with rich vocals like this. I'm wondering where they are going with that?
They did the song in 4/4 instead of 6/8! That added to the poignancy. The bass ledger-line notes that Avi does here are incredible! The end chord is an A9 and Avi anchors the overtones with a third ledger-line A! It sounds like an organ!
I have to say that's one of my favorites. I just love their treatment of this as a slow ballad. Avi's bass line and ending note are just awesome. The whole arrangement is the best I've heard. (Including Elvis's but don't hate me.)
I enjoyed that; I'd never seen this one before. Has to be a few years old since Avi is still in it, which I was super happy to see. Thank you. Loved it!
Just wondering when you’d be uploading the superfruit special you mentioned in a previous video? I love your channel one of the most genuine reactors and my favourite PTX reactor to date ☺️❤️
PTX are making some pretty big shoes to fill too. :D For Halloween take a look at little known A Cappella group: Face Vocal Band - Heathens by 21 Pilots
After they were able to open the door a capella has improved by leaps and bounds. I am so glad because it requires great voices and solid musical education. All kinds of modern music is being improved because of their influences.
You might enjoy Collon Raye for some Christmas music. Especially "If it Could Happen Then". It is a song about the Christmas truce during WW 1. Very awesome.
I agree with this suggestion. Tim's performance (with his piano accompaniment) is masterful & heartfelt. I find this Pentatonix version borders on being a dirge and not warm and enamored.
I may well get get crucified for this, but in days of yore my favorite, pet hates were Tom Jones, Cliff Richard (my sister's best friend drooled when she heard him [from her mouth I mean]), P.J. Proby, Led Zeppelin (with the exception of Stairway to Heaven), Michael Jackson and Elvis the Pelvis - I guess he was just too American for some English people at the time. I did, however, like "Can't Help Falling In Love With You" and can't imagine anyone not liking this Pentatonix version.
There’s lots of spooky acapella things you can react to in the next couple of weeks. There’s a Canadian reactor called Deadgrl Superstar who is doing spooky Halloween acapella reactions for the whole month! She’s calling it Aca-Tober and that proves there’s lots of spooky stuff you can react to. Voctave and Voiceplay seem to come up quite a lot in this. Have fun! Edit: Jared Halley also does a Nightmare Before Christmas medley which I absolutely love!
YES! I'm from the U.S. and I LOVE Deadgrl Superstar! She's a sweetheart (sometimes too sweet, since she cries over the tiniest things). Her playlist would be amazing to react to. :)
James Curfman I think I’ve worked it out. Where most people would get goosebumps and/or chills down your spine she gets teary eyed. I think that’s all it is! But yeah she’s an absolute sweetheart isn’t she?

I love this song and this rendition, and I love Ptx, but I wish they held the measure out for four counts at the end of each phrase. I feel like I’m the only one who thinks this, but it really upsets me. It could be the ultimate Ptx cover ever if it weren’t for that. My opinion!
i thought you'd kind of given up on reacting to actual regular ptx because you haven't in so long. once they announced the tour you've kind of forgot about them. There are so many you haven't done yet!
I've never heard this! IT'S BEAUTIFUL! I truly believe Elvis would be very impressed & honored with this performance! 💖
Kevin actually did most of the arranging for this song. He is a very gifted musician.
After listening to his solo covers it doesnt surprise me that he chose this song to arrange. Seems very much like a choice he would make.

these guys don't make bad music. They're all good enough to fill ANYONE'S shoes. They knocked this one out of the park.
Thank you for this one. Lovely. Stunning voices, and so smooth. Gorgeous looks and beautiful setting. PTX singing is like a shining star, amazing.
PTX overdose? Not possible! 😂
It’s one of my most favorite Mitch songs. It doesn’t take a thing away from Elvis. Like always, PTX makes it their own☮️💟
I walked down the aisle at my wedding (after 7 years together) to this rendition. Not a dry eye in the place. 💙 from Texas!
Aw! CONGRATULATIONS!

I love this song, always makes me tear up. Mitch's lead - so enchanting. Thank you so much for reacting to this.
That's one to rock babies to sleep with. It's GORGEOUS! :)
And can we all just talk about how amazing all 5 of them looked in this video? They looked like angels! And sounded like them!
I think Elvis would be okay with this....thanks, Pat!
Lol... I told you, Elvis would be proud of what they did this! Peace, Love and Light Pat!!! (There is no such thing as "Overdosing" on PTX... lol).
Elvis would have loved this i mean he would have absolutely loved it. Now that is saying something
I was so afraid they would screw up my favorite Elvis song, but I was truly impressed! Not overdone. Nice job!
Yay, finally more PTX! :D
PTX did a wonderful job on this song
As you said, PERFECTION!
Suggestion: Little Drummer Boy, if it’s not already in your Christmas list... 🙂😉

One of my favorite Pentatonix covers. Some adjectives I would use to describe this rendition are pristine, clear, sincere, and pure.
This is by far my very favorite ptx song, followed by "valentines day".

I must apologize to all Elvis fans, BUT, I'm afraid that his shoes are over flowing with PTX. This is a wonderful rendition. THE BEST!!!!!!
I have to say that's one of my favorites. I just love their treatment of this as a slow ballad. Avi's bass line and ending note are just awesome. The whole arrangement is the best I've heard. (Including Elvis's but don't hate me.)
