It wasn't wrongly accused, it was falsely accused, the boss decided it was cheaper to falsely accuse postmasters as thieves rather than recall the Horizon system. She committed a serious criminal act, destroyed hundreds of people's lives, so she should be behind bars for life for what she did, deliberately.

Giving back the CBE is the bare minimum requirement. This woman, all the other senior post office staff involved, plus all the Fujitsu employees responsible for the software should jointly be charged and face time in prison. Conspiracy to pervert the course of justice would probably fit the evidence. The compensation for all the victims should be in the millions each, and a lot of that should come out of the personal finances of all the offenders, so that they are all bankrupt and penniless too.

Given that the Post Office were trusted to be awarded their own specialist courts to deal with financial issues, they were obliged to use them fairly. Instead they used the powers to extract 10's or hundreds of thousands of pounds in each case from innocent people in their contractual care. The Post Office lied and lied, telling one defendant after another that the problem was only with them and not widespread, when it rose to 900 odd cases. It is Conspiracy to Pervert the Course of Justice and the management of the Post Office and possibly Fuzitsu should be investigated and prosecuted to the full extent of the law. If this had been in USA, It would already be underway. As this is in feudal, privatised Tory Treasure Island Britain, it can all be left to go quiet and have nothing happen to the management of a privatised near monopoly. IT IS A TOTAL DISGRACE !

There's a whole load of secondary prosecutions of staff working on post offices who were on duty when the fittings up occurred. That's had hardly any publicity. Many of them were ruined and thrown into the slammer while the cun£s in charge were fully aware and bore false witness against them. There's a cold place in hell waiting for miss CBE and her cohorts. As a former deacon she would know that, except that her holy role was probably a charade as well.

I do hope the two ladies involved remain in the UK.

That's the problem - it's unclear just how much Fujitsu knew about this system - it was originally developed by ICL and by the time they were bought by Fujitsu the development was basically all done. The thing is that Horizon was by far the biggest project in progress at ICL and the extent of it's problems (which the ICL management knew all about) were intentionally kept quiet to avoid damaging the prospect of doing a deal.
I never personally worked for ICL, but I know a bunch of people that did, and their general opinion was that the ICL management couldn't organize a party in a brewery.

Fujitsu are equally culpable in this scandal. How many postmasters did they discuss the system with, what feedback did they receive & acted upon. Did they set up a dry run of how an average post office would receive payments etc & how the system performed in relation to these transactions. I had to work with IT systems most of my working life & at each evolution of the system there were always bugs. Them main reason there were not many serious ones was because the programmers would listen to the individuals who had to use the system. How many of the computer company programmers were ex postmasters or had actually worked in a post office.

Paula Vennells walked into being the chair of an NHS Trust with the help of Dido Harding. Yet another example of failing upwards.
    From Alexander’s Excavations blog:
Dido Harding the Chair of NHS Improvement was personally involved in Vennells’ selection for the Imperial Chair. NHS Improvement has admitted that it gave no ‘specific weight’ to the major litigation against the Post Office nor to MPs’ concerns about the Post Office’s leadership at the time that it appointed Vennells to the Imperial Chair. NHS Fit and Proper Person arrangements are not fit for purpose. They are also under the control of Dido Harding and NHS Improvement, who have delayed in acting properly upon the recommendations of a review by Tom Kark QC into these issues.
