Day 44 of EPIC | PURE GRIT Full Body Dumbbell Workout - ADVANCED COMPLEX

  • The last full body dumbbell workout in the EPIC Program! 2 x 20 minute complex to challenge you mentally and physically! You can do it with perseverance! This pure grit advanced workout and will challenge you!
    You will simply need a pair of dumbbells and a mat for a very demanding workout.
    Once we complete the first complex (with 2 dumbbells), we have a minutes rest before moving to the next complex with only 1 dumbbell. Following this, we work through one round of each exercise we have previously done for 40 seconds, 20 seconds rest! Finally we lie down for some well earned abs before a finisher!
    Ensure you go at your own pace during the complexes! Simply remember 5 reps per exercise and be ready for the next movement!
    During the complexes you are trying to complete without dropping the dumbbells! Although this is a long time to be holding weights so if you need to drop them, do so before returning as soon as you can!

    Im not sure who needs to hears this but clearly Caroline has been at this a long time and her technique is near flawless, so It's absolutely okay to take breaks as long as you keep going and don't give up. if you try to keep up with her out of ego you'll eventually hurt your self. You can rewind the video if needed, I do it all the time and my body is still showing amazing results ! These exercises are less about becoming stronger and more about who you become as you get stronger. Love and light xoxo

      Well said, thank you because I am a hot friggin mess trying to ensure correct form and not hurt myself. I am slow but steady. We are all epic and with each workout we get stronger. I modify as and when I need to, I am still working hard and love this journey of self love. So great full for Caroline and this awesome community! Cheers to 2021 💪🏼👏🏻❤️

      Wonderfully said. I’ve got a wonky lower back, an elbow injury that won’t quite go away, so I have to modify lots of stuff and go suuuuper slow but I’ve seen incredible gains❤️

    Yesterday I was in the pet shop to buy some cat litter. It had only the 15 kg packages. Then I got one package with only one hand and put it in the counter. The saleswoman was so surprised... She asked me more than once: don't you wanna call the deliveryman to carry it for you? Nope, CG training made me strong enough for that!

    I started to tear up at the end of this workout when I read the "you are Epic!" I'm having a really off day and when we started the 20 min complexes, I kept thinking that I wanted to quit. But I just kept going. Part of the reward of this program is the mental endurance you gain. I feel so proud today.

    Honestly I wanted to write another comment to let you know I actually got a bit emotional when I finished this workout. Never in a million years did I think I could achieve something like I just did with this workout. I used to be 140kg and have lost approx 60kg and still a bit overweight at 80kg but never really ENJOYED exercise until I "met" you and lifting at home. I love lifting weights/strength training but honestly I hate the gym and so never really was consistent. But here I am, just finished day 44 and I did it all with 10kg dumbbells (except the curl to press 7kg instead for form!) and really minimal rests, although not none. I'm nursing some sore knees so I replaced the lunges with more sumo squats and uneven squats, but I wasn't looking for excuses for once in my life, I was looking for solutions to get the burn anyway, and I burned a tonne of calories and my god did I get a pump on my arms and shoulders! I loved it, I even danced in the rest between the complexes, wtf! I feel so good and it feels SO GOOD to feel good. Thank you Caroline once again. Thank you so much.

    I did it!! Let me tell you, I ALMOST quit after that first 20 minute complex. But I didn’t! I am 16 month postpartum and I was 120 LB due to significant muscle loss during my pregnancy and I am up to 144 LB! It may not be ALL muscle I gained back 😉 but definitely a significant amount! Thank you Caroline ❤️ Shower time! 🥵

She deserves more than any other fit youtuber cuz she is so real and honest.. she doesnt make me feel like I'm the only one who feels tired between workouts....Oh btw Caroline, I love you so much cuz your smile is dazzling and your workout are so effective.     I've decided that my favorite part of this program are the complexes. Time flew by when I was doing these because I was sooo focused on completing 5 reps properly and then challenging myself to do them better in the next round. The selected combination of exercises made me sweat a lot, too! And then I read "last full body dumbbell workout", I felt complicated because, woah, it's a little sad that we're almost finished but then I also look forward to what's in store after Epic.       @@Zara-nj6hi Great thanks for your encouragement... I did it ✊✊✊💪💪. My first challenge was not focus on the 20 mins time of each complex so I kept my mind to focus like you on doing each reps properly without thinking about how many times Caroline catches up with me 😜😜😂 When I get tired I took few seconds to breathe and then I am back up with the challenge of doing better. On the 2nd complex, I was focus on doing the same reps on each side... To me it's was first a mental challenge then a strength one. I am proud and feeling good to tackle the day. But so happy that tomorrow's is a rest day because EMOM is coming and I must confess it's one of my greatest challenges especially when Caroline add the upper sequence she loves so much 🥰😊😊🙃.     You can feel that the end of this program is near, since each workout that is left is like a FINAL EXAM!!! So, if we want to graduate🎓👩‍🎓🧑‍🎓, we really have to earn it😃😃😃
    Tough workout, the complexes always killed me anyways, since the first time they were on the menu🤣🤣🤣 However, I learned to make time to do the Friday& Sunday workouts in the morning, so I have enough energy!
    Great feeling to finish this one, reallly EPIC!!! Thank you Caroline! 🤗🤗🤗

    I'm 59,I've been back into fitness for a year. I have favorite routines on youtube, but once a week I check out something new. Caroline's video came up after my dumbbell workout. So I thought I'll give this cute girl's workout a try. Duh.. Yes I failed. I won't even say how long I lasted. I get to feeling like I am fit and then I stumble upon this. You people are legends. I am inspired. I will be back. Though I know it will be quite a while until I can complete these.

      Hi Dennis...I am 60 and have been working out with Caroline since just about when she started her channel! Once you get into it I’m sure you will love her workouts. My advice is to start off with some of her shorter workouts from her playlist...then move on to her beginners epic series...and when you’ve done that a couple of times move on to her full epic series!       I'm 61 and been training for just over 9yrs after being very obese with no exercise whatsoever....it's been life changing and Caroline Girvan Epic programme has been amazing and I've only not managed 1 routine, dodgy knee, I'm definitely repeating...

    Done ✅ 6 more days til I'm a finisher!
    I still can't do push ups on my toes but I did mange to do push ups on my knees which is amazing because when I did Epic Beginners I couldn't even do a push up on my knees 😍 Soon enough I'll be able to do regular push ups ❤️
    I could also go deeper with the squats and lunges which is also amazing.

    Kudos to everyone who could complete this because I just could not😵!!! I did the first 20 min complex and after that I just could not do anymore. I am going to find another full body workout on Caroline’s channel and complete it tomorrow and then probably come back and do the last 20 min of the workout where she goes through each exercise only once

      I couldn’t go on after the first 20 minutes either, so I ended up finishing this workout the next day. This was a brutal, brutal workout!

    The HARDEST and Most CHALLENGING workout in the Epic History💪🏻
    I almost give up but keep pushing myself just to finish this. Im feeling it all over and most of all thankful that Caroline made this kind of program to test how far can we go on to push ourselves past to our limits.

    I think that’s one of the hardest workouts I have done 😓
    I had a busy day at work and thought I was going to give up after the first complex, but I didn’t, instead I reduced my weight. Then I carried on and thought I’d drop after the second set. But didn’t. Got back to my first weight and carried on! Oh wow! I did it! 👊🏼👊🏼👊🏼 It was great, but sooo hard at times, I just kept dripping with sweat and Caroline kept lifting these weights as if it’s 1 kg she got 😁
    So impressed, you truly are the best personal trainer I have come across! Thank you lovely lady 🌸🌸🌸

    I just finished and omg I feel so awesome and proud! I was able to use my 20lb dumbbells for the entire workout and I never put them down for the first complex. I can't believe how far I have come from the start of the program! Caroline you have trained us well! I never would've believed in the beginning that I could do this. This workout was truly Epic.       Wow Jennifer, that's such amazing strength! I am a guy and am training with my gf! I could only manage this session with 1 lb dumbbells but stopped at around 21 minute mark as my arms just gave up 😟Is it very poor? My gf did the full session with 20 lbs dumbbells!

    Oh my, this was an absolute killer!! When Caroline says "advanced," she really means it! Was crazy tired by the end of the first complex round, but when I saw the screen flash "AWESOME, hard part done!" I felt encouraged to keep going. Thank you for always pushing us further, Caroline! And this community you built has also been so positive and supportive :) So nice to read all the comments and everyone encouraging each other. There are still times when I think to myself that if someone had told me a couple of months ago that I would be able to do and finish these kinds of workouts, I would have been in total disbelief! Grateful for the progress. Let's keep persevering everyone! Progress, not perfection ♥️

    This was insane but so so much fun! When I started this programme I was working with a set of 3kg weights and about half way through I bought a set of 5kg weights which I started incorporating into sets and sessions in very small amounts initially.
    I proud to say that today I managed to do all of the complexes with my 5kg set and, I only set them down once during each complex. I definitely don't keep up with Caroline, but I'm having such a blast pushing my limits and feeling so strong and competent in my body.
    I also enjoyed the push ups more than I thought I would - my range of motion has improved significantly during this programme.
    Thanks a bunch, Caroline! You are a star :)

    Oh my goodness, this sounds hard! 20 minute complexes, no wonder you are smiling at us, its going to be killer! I love how you then say, you get to rest for a minute and we can lay down and do some abs! I am goingt to need plenty of energy to get through this. So sad it's the last one, I have really enjoyed these.

    Epic Day 44 completed! If someone told me 6 months ago that I would finish such an workout using 2X7.5 kg DB..... no way. Yet, here I am. I am grateful for all the effort you put in giving us these workouts.Thank you so much, Caroline!

      Hi Michaela! That's incredible arm strength! I am a guy and am training with my gf! I could only manage this session with 2x 1 lb (0,45 kg )dumbbells but stopped at around 21 minute mark as my arms just gave up 😟Is it very poor? My gf did the full session with 2x 20 lbs (8 kg) dumbbells!

      Hi thyiff and everyone, you better keep your towel near by like Rajashri said 💪💪☺️. To me, it was first a mental challenge then a strength one but I am so proud I nailed it with 10kgs x2 ☺️☺️✊✊ at my own pace..     I surprised myself today! Prior to doing this workout I had decided that I would at least do X number of sets in each complex, and I was able to do one extra set. But somehow I feel like I could have done more; that's probably just me being hard on myself. The push ups were hard and my left elbow was hurting. What matters is that I made it through this very HARD workout! Before EPIC, I couldn't have done it. More than anything, I'm SUPER grateful for the bits of progress I've made in terms of strength. I want to be stronger still! Love you Caroline, you are the BEST!

    Smashed it thank you Caroline. You always put 100% into your workouts for us and never any thing less! Format is brilliant. This was so so hard but felt amazing and accomplished at the end. 20 min complexes oh my I really didn’t think I could do it! but kept going, some how you kind of zone in after a while! 😂Loved it & loved it more that I went out of my omfort zone and did a long complex workout.
    switched between 8kg & 6kg and had to rewind a couple of times just to catch up.
    I love your full body workouts on a Monday morning best way to start the week ahead.

    I’m on holidays in a little rural gym and the other members were looking at me very oddly with my I pad. 😅 the 20 min complexes were really tough today , I struggled but got them done. I was so proud to not have modified anything and used 10 kg throughout,7kg on curl for form. I’m bushed but feel so accomplished having done that. I never thought I would have.     I'll be back in a few hours to complete this workout. But I am happy to report that I started working 2 days a week with a trainer, the same time I started EPIC. We focus on power lifting moves: squats, deadlifts, and bench press. In 7 weeks my deadlifts personal record went from 200lbs to 225lbs. I 100% know its because of my consistency with Caroline's program 😊💯.
    I also just realized that there are no ads on these videos. How come Caroline? You should ve rewarded for your hard work. Not sure if monetization works different for fitness channels.

    That was one of the most difficult workouts I have ever done. My hands were slipping on my mat because there was so much sweat on it. I had to turn around and face the opposite direction. I had to hit pause at 80% and lay there for 2 minutes before restarting. Just brutal, but in a good way! Thank you Caroline!

    This was the toughest one in awhile! Still struggle with the push-ups so I need to go to my knees but I’m going lower than in the past. This challenge keeps me motivated! Love this thing we’re doing ❤️

    I was pretty much on the verge of tears the entire time. I was sweating so much by the 2nd complex and had to start taking breaks a little over halfway through to give my wrists a break and simultaneously hurriedly wiping myself and the floor of the sweat that was literally dripping off of me.
    I know I’m late to the party, but cheers to everyone who pushed through. And if you couldn’t go all the way through, let’s keep pushing and try again in a few months.

The bit I found hardest was going back through all the exercises again at the end! I suppose the problem is that you know exactly what is coming!!       @@rajashrikamath6007 thanks so much for the extra motivation! My form of exercises was only yoga (I still do it 2x a week). No weights, only body weight. I love walking and did some trekking before ( trekked and climb stok kangri in Ladakh a few yrs ago after a medical mission). But with lots of things going on in our household plus COVID, I’ve been unmotivated. Thanks to chance encounter of Caroline’s channel, I started to look forward to something and seeing incremental results.

    I looked at this workout and got really nervous!! 2x20 min complexes? Then I said, don't think about it, just do it, like the 43 workouts before it. And then i did it. OMG i did it!! I finished it and am so proud of myself. Almost started crying. It also helps to just NOT look at the timer, just focus on your form and your counting and it'll be over before you know it!! You can do it too! :)

    I was dripping sweat all over the room so during the 2nd complex IT was really hard for me to find a non slipping place for push ups 😀 anyway, great workout, really challenging, especially psychicaly!

    OMG! I found the second complex to be harder than the first. My upper body strength is not advancing at the same rate as my lower body strength. I really loved this combinations though. Caroline hits every major muscle group. My at home workouts were never so efficient! thank you, Caroline!

    Whew Caroline the first complex! I persevered throughout with my 10kgs(I kept eyeing my 8kgs though) and a few(ahem) rest breaks 😅. At some point during the second complex I suddenly thought to myself is this me doing all these proper pushups💃🏽. It was a great work out Caroline. Thanks so much for your workouts.     Can’t believe one week left and I’m definitely getting started on the epic II program! I am loving the results! I know I still have a long way to go, but I’ve gotten faster results following her program than tryout other TH-cam videos on my own. I have practically lost all the flap under my arms, they are tight and I can actually feel my ab muscles as I tighten them! I can now handle the 25 pound weights, I’m feeling so much stronger! I don’t expect miracles in ten weeks after years of struggling with my weight, but I now I can definitely get to the weight I’m happy with after finishing all her programs! It’s not easy at 45 but it’s not impossible and if I can get my body to look half as good as her I’m am happy with that! Thanks Caroline!

    Hi everyone, yesterday day of rest I feel guilty of having done nothing except a little yoga... now that I did the day's session + 15min abs, I'm not guilty at all!!! 2x 20mins, it's WoW!!! 🥵🥵🥵🥵 My arms are like marshmallow! 😅😅😅
    But what a great training!! Caroline has been able to create a chain of hyper-effective exercises again, we feel all her muscles working well!     I had to google grit as I thought it was a type of food. Wiki says: “In psychology, grit is a positive, non-cognitive trait based on an individual's perseverance of effort combined with the passion for a particular long-term goal or end state.” That is sooo deep! I want to have some of the GRIT for breakfast please😁.. I can’t wait for it. Thank you for gritting us to the max!

      Hi Awra...I come from the north of England where we use the word grit as Caroline uses it! I do know that grits are a type of food in parts of USA! I have tried them and didn’t like them much! Hope you enjoyed this workout...I loved it! Have a great day! Matthew

      Matthew Almond I love learning new words! It is indeed very interesting how some words mean different things! We have that quite a lot in arabic as well! Yess! I lived in the states for a while, but despite that I didn’t get the chance to try GRITs. We stayed in the New England area. I guess grits is a southern dish. Can’t wait to start this workout.       Ms. Caroline Girvan,,,, Do you know what I am doing right this minute while I am writing to you? I am crying!! I ran out of juices and grit for the entire day! Oh my what an extremely hard routine! My heart rate was up to 175 all the time! I burnt 800 Cals and I thought I was having a heart attack on separate occasions.. This reaaaaaallllllyyyyy pushed our limit.
      To my surprise, I didn't mind the pushups (which is usually my weakness point) but the curl to press was tough. I had to go down to7.5 kg.
      Anywhoooooo.. I am very thankful to you and we still love you!

    This was real test of endurance and showing how strong our muscles have become to keep repeating the exercises in the 20 minute. This was a hard one ! Great job to everyone for completing this. Great full body workout !! I feel strong !:)

    Just when I think I've seen your BEST and your WORST you go on to surprise me. This was truly phenomenal CG. Beautiful arrangement and challenging moves.
    At this point I'm not sure what to expect on our final week, I get the feeling it will be nothing we've seen but we are with you.

      Hi Pepa...I loved this one too...I thought the complexes went past much more quickly than I had feared...and then I thought the really hard bit was going back to do the exercises all again!       @@matthewalmond4688 Hi Matthew, what about the last Sunday's workout, according to the calendar it's a hardcore hit .... it will certainly be a challenge.😄 With EMOM, I like that you have more time to rest to calm your heart rate, but it still depends on how long you did the series.     “Now abs We get to lie down” 😂 the first complex was hard and I did sneak in a break at 10 min. 🤷🏼‍♀️ But I loved the second one and the rest of it! Thank you as always Caroline. These workouts mean so much to a lot of us. ❤️

    Epic day 44 has been a real challenge for me, had to stop in the first complex and dropped the weight in 8 minutes and re-start in using my 5lbs. Used my 10lbs in the second complex and to the end and I just love it! Will do this again after Epic 2! Thank u Caroline. ❤

    I miss exercising my cough has gotten worse. Hopefully I get better these week and pick up where I left. But I woke up super early to watch and read people’s achievements 👍

    I can't lie Caroline, I was not sure I was going to make it to the end of this workout. When you said ADVANCED, you were not kidding. I had to push through every bone in my body telling me to stop. I was determined to make it to the end and not half-ass this workout. I thoroughly enjoyed it and it was a great way to start my day..

    Well, that was fricking brutal. Even with 10 lb weights. But I would not have made it through this workout before following the Epic program - Thank You Caroline!!!
