I second this - he is one of the very few South African TH-camrs I enjoy watching and it’s simply because of how genuine his videos are, he doesn’t try to replicate what a lot of other youtubers are doing just to get a following (not to down play other creatives). I’ve never met Thato but every time I watch him and Mo’s videos I feel like I could genuinely engage with them in real life and I’m someone who moves by energy, I’m very social but very particular about who I engage with and Thato is good people lol. Something very unique about you that not many people may see/love/understand.
I managed my parent's expectations by constantly disappointing them because I quickly saw that if I was always going to do/be what they want for me I'd be miserable. as a society we need to normalize disappointing people rather than disappointing yourself. In all honesty you owe it to yourself to be happy, content and fulfilled. Don't get me wrong if I can make 'you' without sacrificing my own happiness I'll do so... great video
I had to learn the hard way😥I was a good girl for all my life suppressing my feelings and personality for my parents.... then boom I decided to start making myself happy and we fought for 2years straight so never again
Expectations nhe! 😂Life will humble you. Im turning 24 this year and im still living in my mothers house. I feel pressure to move out by next year because I had always told myself that by 25 I would be living on my own, and fully financially independent but im still trying to remind myself that variables that were out of my control, like COVID, hindered me to achieve this goal cause I was now out of a job. I had to humbly move back home in 2020 after living on my own for +/- 2 Years, damn what a reality check. What is also important I feel is to not dwell so much on the goals you didn't achieve and to not blame yourself and sit feeling sorry for yourself. Give yourself the allowance to feel those emotions for a certain amount of time and then work towards moving on and setting long term goals that are realistic based on your situation really loved this ep of #MalomesMic
I have not finished watching yet, I paused right after you said something along the lines of that "we always have or set a negative perception of ourselves". That line reminded me of a saying from a book I used to read and it goes "Try seeing yourself through the eyes of someone who 'admires' you. They get it. They believe in your leaps and bounds. They are not connected to your insecurities and negative beliefs about yourself"
Halala! I think the underlying theme that greatly characterizes what I think is the core of what the gentlemen were saying is that: Communicate expectations, then manage them. One can't manage expectations without communicating them. With communicating, you allow yourself to not numb your expectations and depending on whether the other person can or can't meet them, you then manage your expectations within the frames of what's been communicated and committed to. Thato man! Your Content! High key my Favourite segment! Soo informative, so relatable, honestly feels like a conversation between friends (Us and You Guys). The advice and different perspectives from all three it’s legit and finding what I relates to you the most. Also feeling like you not the only person in your 20s dealing with the transition from student to young adult getting your things together. The varsity episode was also amazing made watched it with my younger sister whose doing her first year and really helped getting the conversation going in terms expectations, reality and the having to focus on why you there! The most important lesson I learnt from this episode is not communication but effective communication. Not only does it improve relationships but it also enable you to ask for help when you are in need, in a nutshell I love what yall are doing.
That advice about asking for help towards the end, I needed that. It is really hard for me to do that sometimes and I find myself drowning in my own issues, thanks guys! This podcast is amazing
