The "best" is hardly possible to judge. Any decent bakery can make good Croissants/puff pastry. Especially if you are European you can have it anywhere you go. They are simply one of the best in generating hype and overpricing their products.

In fact saying someone is French as a way to give credibility when it comes to croissants is kind of silly, because most French people don’t even bake at home, much less make complicated viennoiserie like croissants. I’d sooner expect a Korean or Japanese home cook to crank out croissants than a French one given how passionate a lot of home cooks in those countries are about these pastries.

This is literally how all bakeries work in Europe. Freshly baked bread, bread rolls and other baked goods made overnight, ready for you in the store early in the morning
It's how all actual bakeries work everywhere. I had to do this and I live in the middle of nowhere, Midwest U.S. This one is just really popular and tastes really good I guess, based on what the comments say.
My grandmother lives near by so I have had their croissants on many different occasions and I for one can say this video doesn’t do them justice they are so good!!

The croissant was invented in Austria. And herein lies the problem with claiming one country to be the GOAT of anything to do with food, you’re one day gonna find out that they got something - a technique, an ingredient, whatever, from someplace else. Because nothing is created in a vacuum.
Their pastries are truly amazing! I remember the first time I went there - it was Mother’s Day and they had sold out of practically everything and it was only about noon! But they furiously worked to get more pastries done for all the customers still waiting. The owner came out and apologized for making us wait and we chatted with him about his family and history. I’m so happy for his success!
The sad part is, they are located in San Francisco...and I do not feel like getting a battery of injections as if I was going to a 3rd world country just to eat bread.
So thisssssss is why so many bakeries close at 2/3pm. The tram is exhausted from a full day of work! Starting around 4 or 5am. Ya learn something new everyday!
god if only I had that timeframe when I used to work at a bakery .. got there around 5 am, went home at 11 pm .. no employee rotations and only a lunch break
Their Kouign amann is my favorite and one reason I'd go back to SF. My last time there was on my honeymoon and the morning we left I was going to stop in and get a few as a farewell and they were temporarily closed for an extra hour. Broke my heart.
I go there everyday. It is so yum 😋. In my opinion the chocolate almond croissant is the best. But be aware! Because there is always a 30 minute line especially in the morning. There is also a very good coffee shop right next to it.
To be honest, their products are tastier than they look 😊.
