I think the sandwich and flashlight are safety precautions. If a searcher is in their "right area" and just can't seem to find it, they might keep searching til dusk, then a flashlight might come in handy hiking out. I seem to lose track of time and forget to eat, sandwiches come in handy. Just my 2 gold coins!
I would have to say the sandwich would be for the resting time for Forrest after the first trip. The flash light well it could be in a crack where you would need a flash light to be able to see in the crack if the TC is in it with a good pair of gloves.

As I have gone alone in there how do we not know Forrest is already in the canyon And know we hunt for the begin it wwwh in the canyon it just could be where two warm waters creek halt in to each other but now it said take it in the canyon down what if we take the canyon up where it comes down.,There's only two meaning for canyon down .

There are snow drifts that are 4 to 7 feet where it is right now, it's going to be next June at the earlest
