Its quite good as an air channel and high airflow/low noise case. The glass version is totally a hot box. Greetings

The cost to re-manufacture the case to fit a nice UBC-c at the front would be way too much. We are talking Walmart here. I guess the front panel change was done for free as part of the bulk purchase deal. And that was a condition imposed by Walmark purchasing, and you have no doubt someone made money out of this deal in China. 10000% sure of that.

There are three (3) fans on this device dedicated to cooling the front panel alone. Your testing didn't even measure front panel temperatures under load or even front panel temperatures at idle. We CANNOT possibly take Gamers Nexus testing seriously - Walmart.

Well, this video was perfect timing for me. I just started picking out parts to build a computer. I've already ordered a tempered glass case... That case has a very similar front panel, which I am now going to be removing... Btw Please keep up the videos they are helping me ALOT!
I went the exact opposite. Tired of messing with pc builds and bought a prebuilt. And when that one just couldn't cut it any more i bought the one i've got now. (replaced disks (threw out the hdd and added two more ssd's) and gpu twice) no regert.
The price of the original hardware configuration in this DTW PC isn't even justified. It's not even WORTH US$1,400. It's a complete ripoff through and through. I would be surprised that Walmart is doing shit like this, but I'm not. They treat their workers like crap and they don't have accessible shipping options, AFAIK.
I had similar problems with my Aerocool DS200, starving the inlet fans of air, so I modified it by cutting sections out of the front panel and now it's much better.
I bought one a few years back... It was the typical pre-built PC. They cut corners everywhere they can, cheap mobo, cheap generic PSU and cheap PC case. The only reason I do not feel like a total idiot for buying it, is because I was a total noob with computers at the time. So the warranty made it worth the $500. I then used that PC to educate myself on how PC repair works. Using TH-cam and google I did my research on both PC repair and educated myself on the typical value hardware should have. Earlier this year I built my own i5 8600k - GTX 1060 6G computer. The only thing I have left that I use from that old PC, is the case (which will be replaced soon as well) and it still has the "iBuypower" logo on the front. Haha!
sad thing is none of this really matters because Walmart prob will not watch this or care about any of it and the people buying a pre-built from Walmart prob have no idea about pc they just see oh it looks nice got glass front and side panel with led fans and decant hardware it has to be good/high end
It's nice that you still create articles to go along with all of the videos and I hope you keep doing that. I prefer reading articles when I just want benchmarks and answers and details quickly, or I'm on the subway, etc. Also, the case looks pretty much identical to the FSP CMT510 or maybe a walmart custom Jonsbo QT03, but they don't seem to have the airflow issues according to the couple of reviews out there. Don't know why. Maybe some spacers and longer screws for the front panel to add like a 3-5mm gap would help?
Who in their right mind would spend that much for an i3/1050 ti? Think it's safe to say that even the dumb (rich) parent looking to buy a gaming computer for their kid wouldn't even pull the trigger on something like that..
It should be used, because normal people/consumers will use it. And it can impact thermal performance differently for every other case. I mean, it's a semi big exhaust port which shouldn't be there.
@@Jahee-Official Uh, no. To think that impacts thermal performance, considering all of the other variables, is misguided. That is not a correct statement. You're talking software error, measurement error, paste application, paste curing and age, fan PWM to RPM response. That shield doesn't impact anything. It is silly to think you'd see any change in this instance. Maybe 0.01C in some cases.
@Gamers Nexus Then I would like to see a propper test being done. A normal case with and without a back. (using an angle grinder to remove the back, so it's just one big gaping hole) Thermals before and after.
I feel sorry for your clueless grand/parent who buys this only to see their $$ spent on a ticking time bomb which is of poor quality parts and the discussed build design issues. No way should this even be sold in stores for that price and Walmart's behaviour is akin to selling drugs to society's most vulnerable.
It's a PC that might be a little expensive for what it is. Ticking time bomb? Drugs? Get a grip, you are the reason why people fucking hate tech nerds.
@Turk the system comes with the ~$450 1070, not the $1000+ 1080 TI. And, because most users won't modify the system at all, the throttling means it's not even going to perform like a 1070 should. And it's going to die a premature death.
That delta between the front panel on and off is so telling, had they used a mesh front panel it would actually be a decent case. Expected this much from Walmart I suppose.
my uncle gave me a good piece of advice long ago ''the flame that burns the brightest burns out the quickest''' and that is my motto with pc building good airflow light overclocks and low temps
Aggnog yo I realize this is a terrible comment and it got you a response from gamers nexus, but was it really worth spending so little time thinking about it before you pressed reply?
products like these take market share from legit companies and take advantage of ignorant and stupid people in the process. So, effectively doubling down with a bad impression that leads people back to their xbox and playstation worlds. And this is youtube...so a in depth rip on it is great entertainment.
Good Video, It would be nice to also see a video on moding this case's front glasses panel mounting, possibly be 3D printing some new mounts for the glasses panel to improve airflow. Plus some new benchmarking of just how much better both the reference system performs in the case and also the supplied Walmart system perform. As moding our pre-built systems is I am sure how many of use started with building our own PC in the first place, and the case looks like it could be quite expectable for a gaming PC, with a little extra work, and not the worst looking either.
My first PC build, I bought a DIYPC Vision II which is very similar in fashion to this Walmart case - simple, nothing too jaunting and installer friendly. The fan set up is exactly how the Walmart case has been mapped out and the thermals were parallel. The front panel of the case was so close the pre-installed fans there wasn't even a gap. Case to fan. Fan to case. A modern day love story. It was absolute chaos and astounded me how poor this design was. I took this DIYPC case and performed a DIY - taking off the front panel, modifying mounting brackets and rigging it to create a sandwich by adhesive and velcro. Yes. Velcro. For the reasons this video stated the suffocating panel anchors the thermals to the sun. Well, it did run hot as my attempt to DIY created a 5/8 inch gap (as opposed to none) and, AND, allows me to remove the panel whenever I need to let the fans fan without restriction and with freedom for I need all the movable air I can get when the RX580 and Ryzen 5 load up. Just thought this may be relevant. It might not be. I have a velcro case lol
Greetings from Germany! Props for using mm and degrees Celsius! I enjoy your channel a lot and appreciate not tho have to deal with "F"-unny degrees. Have you ever considered giving delta T in K?
I could see if a filter were cut to match the case front, then use stand-off screws to mounts and push the glass panel further away from the fans. That way air would be brought in through the filter from the sides around the fans. It wouldn't look too bad. Maybe you could show that when you review the DTW3.
I'm happy you are posting these videos. I am that older guy shopping around for a gift to give. I am absolutely not one of the enthusiasts that you keep referring too. While I really don't see myself as being able to build something like this on my own, I'm glad that at least this particular bad decision can now be avoided. Are there at least good options for a pre-built computer to purchase? I know I'll never get top of the line performance, surely there is some manufacturer out there that offers something at least decent.
Nice review. One more test to be added could be to put some standoffs and larger screws to see what is the optimal gap between the front panel and the fans, since it goes to both poles of your chart, with and without the panel.
I have a challenge for you boys. I would love to see a follow up video where you go through whatever mods need to be made to this case to make it a functional piece. Maybe longer screws on the front panel so it sits farther away from the fans?
AskGN: Are you interested in investigating acceptable front panel separation where you vary spacing via screws and washers to push away the front panel and show improvement over distance? That would be really interesting. We know it is bad to be very low but we haven't explored where the point of 'acceptability' is.
6:20 It looks like there would be enough space to drill another set of holes alongside those screws to give the front panel another 5mm or so clearance. Better yet, fit a hinge down one side so you can open the whole thing up for max cooling while gaming and also make it easy to blow out those fans.
I have the Rosewill Cullinan MX... I'm utterly disgusted with how they ruined such a decent case design. Even ignoring the USB situation and no dust filter, how could they give this $2000 PC nearly no airflow? This machine won't even last long enough for the dust to kill it because it will constantly be overheating. Even the poor cable management is a non issue compared to the lack of front airflow intake. Not to mention cheapening out on the motherboard and PSU so badly... I'm so glad I choose to build my first PC last month thanks to this and other TH-cam channels giving me the confidence to try. I've learned so much from you and am still learning more with nearly every video. So again, Thank You Gamers Nexus!
I never thought that blocking the intake fans a bit could have such dramatic results. I mean there are active fans blowing out for the CPU and GPU so the only possible way could be if the inside temperature is mire than 30 degrees higher ranging to 50-60. This would most likely be the death to all harddrives installed in the case.
Looking forward to the PSU testing. The sticker on it has "80+" in its model number so I'm wondering if it's really at least a regular 80+ (white sticker, below 80+ bronze) because if it is 80+ certified it may just be that the company cheaped out on putting actual 80+ logo stickers on it.
TSLMachine There is a review article about that model on a Chinese tech website. As far as I can tell, it’s pretty efficient. They probably just did not bother to certify it.
i think hu steve used some longer stand-ins to modify a case with a similarly unreasonable front-panel gap and the thermals went from crap to fine. might be an easy enough fix...though having to fix it is pretty annoying. guess you might as well add some cleanable filters if you are doing that. enjoying the walmart content, surprisingly!

About to say "Man Walmart stepped up their game pretty quick, thats some sexy internals" lol. I bought the Anidees AI Crystal when it came out. Its a beautiful and functional case, before tempered glass became more mainstream. I'd like to build in it again.
Linus had his 3 systems year-long test to see how dust accumulates. The one with positive pressure had air pass through the bottom air filter in the front of the case, before reaching the PSU's filter, which resulted in a pretty clean PSU after a year of use. I don't know if it's an intended effect, but it's nice to have. Edit: ok, I hadn't seen the temp chart before saying that. Clearly there's not enough airflow to get that effect.
I just saw a Sentey case when i went to there site for the heck of it. And i saw one of their glass cases and i thought "Isn't that the OP case??" I'm dead serious, it looks like the EXACT case with different badges.
Id like to see you make this better, using og componants. Like cable re routing maybe spacing the front panel out show us what this system could of been
I actually saw what appeared to be identical rigs (albeit with different names and graphics card vendors) at EB Games, with the price tiers being about the same, though in AUD.
What happened to your blacks in this video? It's so noisy..Did you changed the export parameters on premiere or it's a camera thing? As an amateur video editor it would be interesting know what changed, thank you. Awesome content btw, as always.
Because I wasn't sure if i want to try building one. I'm a console gamer but would like to try a PC. Anyways I've been watching enough videos on how to build one, I am gonna attempt to build my own next year. Special thanks to the verge for their video (kidding). Lol
Be interesting to see how it would perform with the front glass spaced out 10mm or so. Would be easy enough to do with some spacers and longer screws, and would barely have any affect on the aesthetics.

2018 is when I had my first PC ever & I built it with a friends help. I'm way late.
@@JoriDiculous Sounds like a massive waste of money
was cheaper then doing it from scratch. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I don't know jack about computers, but damn it if I don't find these videos ridiculously fascinating!
7:09 gave me a mini heart attack i thought my Headphones were dying.
You're the only man that says it like it is. I love you, Steve.
Walmart also sales ibuypower PC as well online and in store
That is not their brand 😒
Walmart only has CyberPowerPC near me, while Best Buy has iBUYPOWER.
Haha!
@@ezentia5547 , this is not their brand either. The brand is owned by and these pcs are built for Esports Arena

Woah, the first video got 1.5M views. Great job guys, keep up the great work :)
sad thing is none of this really matters because Walmart prob will not watch this or care about any of it and the people buying a pre-built from Walmart prob have no idea about pc they just see oh it looks nice got glass front and side panel with led fans and decant hardware it has to be good/high end
Maybe some spacers and longer screws for the front panel to add like a 3-5mm gap would help?
orgin pc sells i3 8100 with 1050ti for 1500$ nobody bats an eye.
wallmart sells i7 8700 with 1070 for 1400$ everyone loses their minds
WebDev that’s because when you see a prebuilt with an i3 over 1000$ you already immediately go to a different brand
@@IHT_OW see the thermal performance of case where he compare all expensive shits with wallmart op but he doesn't show the price of them.
Who in their right mind would spend that much for an i3/1050 ti? Think it's safe to say that even the dumb (rich) parent looking to buy a gaming computer for their kid wouldn't even pull the trigger on something like that..

What a difference just with proper enthusiast parts. It's what you would have visually (as a minimm) expected in the first place.
Has Walmart expressed any interest in your comments?
They're too busy counting benjamins day and night.
Just ordered a Lian-li 011 Dynamic during the Black Friday week. Pretty excited!
Missing I/O shield @ 7:56 -ish. Doesn't that impact cooling performance, considering there is positive pressure?
It doesn't matter as the standardised bench doesn't use an I/O shield
@@Jahee-Official why
Damn this guy goes into such detail.
I know, me too.
@Turk gtx 1070 go for 500 USD tops, you must be on LSD
@Turk the system comes with the ~$450 1070, not the $1000+ 1080 TI. And, because most users won't modify the system at all, the throttling means it's not even going to perform like a 1070 should. And it's going to die a premature death.
@@kidShibuya I take it you never had an exploding power supply. They take out boards and expensive ssds and gpus when the caps explode too
the vent under the hdd cages serves 1 purpose, so you can remove the hdd cage and install a 120mm radiator/fan. I have done this on a few builds.
Yikes.
That delta between the front panel on and off is so telling, had they used a mesh front panel it would actually be a decent case. Expected this much from Walmart I suppose.
just put a 2080ti in it. fixes everything.
Ah, yes. A system so powerful it can die trying to raytrace render its own glass front panel.
It just works lol
@@rosly_yt you don't need to render it if it melts.

I realize that this terrible product is giving you a lot of content, but is it really worth spending so much time on it?
1: We were already doing this case review.
2: Yes. Obviously, or we wouldn't do it.
Aggnog yo I realize this is a terrible comment and it got you a response from gamers nexus, but was it really worth spending so little time thinking about it before you pressed reply?
It's a terrible product, but an excellent meme.
products like these take market share from legit companies and take advantage of ignorant and stupid people in the process.
As moding our pre-built systems is I am sure how many of use started with building our own PC in the first place, and the case looks like it could be quite expectable for a gaming PC, with a little extra work, and not the worst looking either.
lol these walmart pcs reviews are getting more and more fun to watch
Nice job on the 426k subs you guys deserve it. 😎👍👍
I like how there are two countdown bars at the sides of the screen when graphs are being displayed.
ROFL! Steve almost lost the front glass panel. Good catch Steve. lol
Visioneer68 No. don't fall for pre-built PC's. either do some research and make your own, or find someone to pay to make a PC.
Hyped for you to rip them apart once again.
Those temp charts make me even more happy with my h500p mesh white
Nice review. One more test to be added could be to put some standoffs and larger screws to see what is the optimal gap between the front panel and the fans, since it goes to both poles of your chart, with and without the panel.
I have a challenge for you boys. I would love to see a follow up video where you go through whatever mods need to be made to this case to make it a functional piece. Maybe longer screws on the front panel so it sits farther away from the fans?
AskGN:
Are you interested in investigating acceptable front panel separation where you vary spacing via screws and washers to push away the front panel and show improvement over distance? That would be really interesting. We know it is bad to be very low but we haven't explored where the point of 'acceptability' is.
Reminds me of a case of a friend of mine. After we removed the frontpanel the temperatures dropped around 20 degrees centigrade
Everyone loves you and your amazing videos :) We hope you know that.
Come on, Steve! The front has fans that light up! It's KEWL!!!
8:00 aw I know, friend. I know. Gotta mix the goods and the bads, hang in there
Looking forward to the PSU testing.
Yes, was looking forward to this!

When I went to Walmart in the late 80's, early 90's they actually sold quality goods. Hard to believe but true.
My take was that the grills on the bottom were the actual air intake, the fans/glass in the front is just window dressing.
I love it when you put your head down and lift it up shaking your head,, NO,NO,NO. LOL
Awesome video love the channel & material look forward to more
About to say "Man Walmart stepped up their game pretty quick, thats some sexy internals" lol.
I bought the Anidees AI Crystal when it came out. Its a beautiful and functional case, before tempered glass became more mainstream. I'd like to build in it again.
7:35 That lamp is pretty sweet tbh
Linus had his 3 systems year-long test to see how dust accumulates. The one with positive pressure had air pass through the bottom air filter in the front of the case, before reaching the PSU's filter, which resulted in a pretty clean PSU after a year of use. I don't know if it's an intended effect, but it's nice to have.
Edit: ok, I hadn't seen the temp chart before saying that. Clearly there's not enough airflow to get that effect.
Check out the Riotoro cr500 version of this case Steve
Good review. It would be interesting to see a series of OEM cases reviewed, although I imagine obtaining them is going to be hard.
I think some cheap aluminum spacers and longer screws would help a ton to get someone by that is stuck with it and can't return it.
That oem case is available all over china, india, and south east asia and rebranded by local brands. You can look in aliexpress also.
Another Good video. Thank's for the detailed review.
7:52 - Great b-roll there 😂
*points at temple* - can't have positive pressure if you choke the 3 intake fans
Wait, so you're telling me something Walmart sells isn't of the utmost or even decent quality? I'm shook!
Also, great video.
The bottom front mesh filter was likely a HDD fan for a case with a blocked off front.
The case is almost exact clone of Dark Flash's cases. just a few pieces changes from bevels, plastic, and some shapes.
Looks like exact same fans.
I just saw a Sentey case when i went to there site for the heck of it. And i saw one of their glass cases and i thought "Isn't that the OP case??"
I'm dead serious, it looks like the EXACT case with different badges.

Again thanks for reviewing this. I was considered buying one.
White Carnage why lol ?
There are so many better places to buy pre built from digital storm for one
Because I wasn't sure if i want to try building one. I'm a console gamer but would like to try a PC. Anyways I've been watching enough videos on how to build one, I am gonna attempt to build my own next year. Special thanks to the verge for their video (kidding). Lol
Be interesting to see how it would perform with the front glass spaced out 10mm or so. Would be easy enough to do with some spacers and longer screws, and would barely have any affect on the aesthetics.
