This is the new high water mark in Aurora's career. An insane performance. That cry becomes the primeval cry from ancient generations carried through the millennia. She is so totally connected here that she makes us all feel connected. Thank you, I needed this today -

@@ninaschofield Aurora Fan Channel has the best quality version of The Dark Dresses Lightly at the Roskilde Festival. The channel also has Your Blood acoustic, which a special track that is only on the Japanese Edition CD, and it is very special indeed, she hits her probably highest note ever at the end.
I thought her vocals were otherworldly the first time I ever heard them, but with every new release she has kept improving. And in her case, there's also far more to a song than the technique on display. A message, or connection, or some truth the listener finds.
I think you're one of the only reactors, to spot one of the most important features of this incredible performance, and that was Aurora's choreography, with the camera operator, which was perfect and seamless. Unless they had a telepathic link with Aurora, the camera operator must have rehearsed this well, as it's a one take. I think this is one of the most incredible live performance videos I've ever seen. Seemingly simple, but it works flawlessly on so many levels, from Aurora's movements, to her vocal performance, Fredrick's mandolin playing, the Aurora camera operator ballet. Yet it has enough rawness, to come across as organic, and not a totally slick and souless, super-rehearsed performance.
@@johnytwo - Certainly. Whilst Aurora and Ren, are very different styles of artist, they are in other ways very similar, in that they are both super talented, genre defying, unique artists. Of course, and I think this is what you're hinting at, they both deliver great live performances, with maximum emotional engagement, sincerity, and authenticity.
The feeling this performance gives me is just sheer awe and reverence. The way she snaps her head and taps her chest to keep tension in her body for those powerful notes. It's just absolutely intense. She is masterful with the way she controls her voice. The dynamics on her voice are perfect, she is in complete control. The strings are perfect, the camera work is perfect and it all adds up to one hell of a performance. What an absolute joy to watch. Aurora is a beast!
Great reaction as always Nina👍 I absolutely love this performance, one of my (many) favourites by her😍 Could you please react to “The dark dresses lightly” live at the Roskilde festival😍
Stunning live performance (and yes very different). Everything is amazing here. As always I enjoyed your reaction very much :). Have a nice day! Ps. To complete experience there is also a Remix version of this song :). Ps2. My favorites on this album was always: The Dark Dresses Lightly and Dreams. I mean I have much more favorites (and some really grew much in my) but I loved this 2 from the very first listen up to now :)).
Time after time she releases these jaw-dropping, so in the moment, performances. Her intensity in this one always sends chills throughout my body. She raises the bar each and every time and always delivers her message in such beautiful ways!
This performance is so awesome (including yes, the camerawork). I think Aurora is just getting better and better! You really need to check out "Some Type of Skin" from the same session. Another outstanding performance!
2:27 I like the way you talk about the feelings that the drone sound gives you. It's something that I always feel when I hear the bagpipes being played, I feel connected, part of something bigger than me. Hearing them usually gets me quite emotional.
Yes, that G drone is, to me, a connection to the Earth. It really resonates in the mind and body, imo. The whole song also has, I think, a middle Eastern "flavor" - the sounds of the vast deserts, of the Silk Road. Imo, the music of every traditional culture reflects the vibration of Nature in that place. She really captured that music - wow! I adore this rendition of Soul With No King. The album version is great, too, of course. People are saying that's a mandola being played. I thought it was a bouzouki, but I guess not.
I think your comments have captured the essence of this little masterpiece, especially the evocative references to "vast deserts" and the "Silk Road". The timeless dusty, sun-baked "flavor" of those ancient lands.I feel that our little Viking faerie has managed to expand her imagination and has a beautiful new (and deeper) voice to present it. Good work!
Fredrik is playing a Mandola (big Mandolin : as Viola is to Violin). I love this performance as the song is purely Aurora and Fredrik: they wrote it, arranged it, produced it and recorded it. Next: the version of 'Some Type of Skin' done in the same session. It's another masterpiece and a little random in places 🤪 Aurora said about it : I didn't know whether I wanted to sing, dance or play the piano ...

Brilliant. Whenever Aurora strips back the arrangement of any song her vocal and performance just enter a higher level - you just experience total channelling of the song through her and out to us. It’s human on a basic and beautiful level. Listening to this makes me feel grounded, connected, spiritual (not religious). 😊
Very nice reaction to this live performance. I must admit, this is one (of many) top favorite live performances by Aurora, same day she did Some Type of Skin and that is also stunning, she has some playful moments that really shine a light on her wonderful personality. Thanks.
Beautiful. Have you ever heard of Ren? He's a Welsh singer/songwriter/rapper/multi-instrumentalist/storyteller. He's based in Brighton and used to be part of a busking band there called the Big Push. He's been making music for years, but only started getting the recognition he deserves after he released Hi Ren in December '22. He had a number one album, Sick Boi, last year, and is about to start releasing tracks from his new album Slaughterhouse. His musical influences are incredibly varied. He's done some incredible collaborations with up and coming UK artists such as Chinchilla and Sam Tompkins.

One of my favorite songs of all time. Really cinematic and special ❤❤❤❤
I’m a 65 year old geezer and love her new album. I saw a clip of her singing live on TikTok and thought she had a beautiful voice so was curious. So many amazing songs. She’s coming to the US in December not too far from me, couple hour drive. Would love to go listen to her live but fear I would be the one creepy old guy in a crowd of teens 😂

@ninaschofield nina, what is aurora doing when she hits that powerful d5?? she hits the same note with incredible power in "some type of skin live vevo" as well! because her head voice is so strong, i assume she has to be mixing there, but it sounds like a chest belt! is this her mix voice?
