For me, it's the innocence of Aurora's voice, no matter what the subject matter of the song she is singing. It's like her voice is cutting through like a beam of hope. And, thank you for recognizing Celia. That woman is a treasure, in her own right.

Aurora is Bohemian. Anyone who finds her will fall under he spell and become a W&W. She is in a league of her own, not only because of her singing, lyrics and stage presence but because of what she stands for. Aurora will not wear designer cloths given to her by fashion brands, very rarely wears make up, produces her own music and will not be told to change it by her record company, is a fierce enviromental warrior & advocates peace in all conflicts around the globe. A diferent lady indeed . not in it for the adulation or money, just her love of what she does and getting it out there to the public. A very special person and we love her for it x

This is one of the most perfect performances of “popular” music I’ve ever heard. I believe she has never studied vocal technique, and yet she has the control of a seasoned opera singer, with much more variety of tone and texture. She has since been experimenting with her whistle register, and deepening her lower register with rich tonalities. She has said that while performing, it is as if the music enters through the top of her head and comes out of her mouth: she is a vessel for the song. She is indeed a siren, and I, for one, and ready to founder on the rocks of her music.
I really love your reaction. No need to apologize for being at a loss for words. I have been haunted by this performance for days, and continuing. It is as achingly perfect as I believe humans can be. Interesting that you describe her, appropriately, I think, as painting. You may know that she actually is a painter and a dancer and I absolutely believe that she is expressing all of this in the moment, spontaneously, while also performing meticulously. This is the fascination of her. We are mesmerized by this wizardry which is both honest and exquisite. Silia Sol is a badass. When I saw AURORA live in 2019 Silia played keyboard, sang vocals shook a tambourine at the same time! Very impressive.
She is as strong as high carbon steel and as vulnerable as finely spun glass. She rips you open and heals you at the same time. Who does that? Her art is almost too much to bear, but you can't look away. She is a siren in the form of a wood nymph. Resistance is futile.

Hi ..it's not a recording studio, but a live performance in a radio studio..( much like BBC radio 1's Live Lounge) so any production would have been done there and then at the desk and probably very minimal.. certainly not post. There are two more similar performances in this arrangement of the song ..at KEXP studio, and during the HAIK concert, and they are just as stunning.

There’s several words I can think of to describe Aurora’s always amazing, mysterious, and intriguing performances, but if it’s only one word, I would choose “free” as in freedom.
Angelic, Elegant and Serenetic. That is how I would describe Aurora’s beautiful voice, encapsulates me every time I listen to her! I feel all of what she says in the entirety, and I am not an emotional person usually, but she makes me tearful at times. Just simply an anomaly, mix of everything I love in music! Fascinating is as good a word as any when experiencing Aurora. Absolutely love this performance and how brilliantly powerful two women, a guitar and meaningful lyrics can leave us so awestruck!!

I saw Aurora live last week. Just a magical evening in every way. From her music to her beautiful interactions with the audience…she’s just a unique and special human being. I can’t recommend seeing her in concert enough. If she started a cult I would absolutely join! 😂

Transcendent: she transcends time and the space between us when she sings like this. Possessed: the music possesses her and we in turn are captured. Authentic: there is no inner pilot attempting to present, no shield disguising self-doubt, no insecurity seeking approval, or arrogance showing off. While human Aurora may have these feelings, in the moment she feels the music not herself, or rather as herself.

This is one of my early favourites from Aurora. And yeah, Celia is killing it.
Great vocal reaction. But you only mentioned a few time her second greatness in this perfromance and togheter this became a masterpice and that is her whole body expressions. Sometimes they are rather big but more often they are micro expressions in which even seasoned actors would be impressed by. An example. watch how she behaves when every time she sings "- so quiet"
I don't have English as my main language. But when you mentioned her voice as maybe "not unique" I would probably say that no one sings like she does anymore, possibly 30 years ago but I would be very surprised if anyone sings like she does in this song and many of her songs.
I completely agree with you about Silja's voice and meaning. It was so bad when she quit that I seriously thought it was the beginning of the end for AURORA. Pretty much everyone in the group at the time quit at the same time and it was very sad. I totally understood why, but it was sad. Luckily, after a while the new setting started to work really well. So those of her fans including myself breathed a sigh of relief. Now I babble too much again. Once again very nice and interesting analysis of this song. Aurora in one word for me. " Timeless"
AURORA is someone that has so much diversity and so blessed in every way. Her interviews are very interesting. While she is totally engaged with her hosts she is also very aware of everything around her. She is a totally straight forward and and very open with her answers. Her music is all over the place...she is so versatile that it is hard to realize that she can master so many different genres. Most people will say to watch her live performances, I agree that they are awesome. Don't skip her video 's though....Some havebeen called works of art. "THRU THE EYES OF A CHILD" done in a cathedral is unbelievably beautiful....and the cathedral.is stunning!
I don't have the musical background, to properly describe Aurora as a singer. Aside from to say, she is a musical genius, and seems to have an amazing and very deliberate intuitive insight into her singing. I only learned recently, that Aurora learned sign language as a youngster, to overcome a speech impediment, triggered by a traumatic experience. So it's quite possible that a lot of the hand gestures she uses, whilst singing, are not random.
As for Silja Sol, she was an incredible singer and musician who worked with Aurora. My understanding is she left to pursue her own career. This is what Aurora said when Silja left her band:

Light. Specifically healing light in a world of darkness. She is a shaman singer using her words in her lyrics to communicate emotions with her voice. She is someone who has to move when preforming. She is a being of nature and of the forrest. I to saw live in concert last week and would recommend seeing her perform live.

Of everything I've watched on YT I gotta say this is right near the top, if not at the top. I'd throw in EIVOR, "Falling Free" also. Silja Sol is wonderful accompanying Aurora.
I think you described it very well by using "the kind of brush, hard or soft, and what kind of paint .. I think that worked very well. Aurora is fascinated herself in painting and artists. I am one of those who came to think of Edvard Munch's "The Scream" while watching the official video of "Runaway". And it is like she is right beside Claud Monet, in his studies of shadow and light, in his garden pond. While he paints with paint and brushes, it is as if she is "painting" her interpretation, of his painting using music and words. Seen her live 4 times, and never with Silja, who clearly is amazing. Aurora always surrounds herself with talented people though, and her band is great. I love a lot of her old acoustic sets with Odd Martin Skålnes on guitar/harmonies, but her new guitar player Fredrik is amazing. Apart from her performances, I'm always extremely impressed with her lyrics and creativity.
The first two words I choose for her are 'sylphic goddess'. And her rapport/psychic synchronisation with Silja, as with O. Martin and Amelie Holt Kleive, is literally supernatural.

Descriptive words it’d use …… pure sounds with foggy-soft texture + fragile power + taking you on their feeling journey.
Aurora has an amazing vocal range. She didn't really start pushing her vocal abilities until her last two albums. She can sing very low, and very high. There are brief moments on her new album that her voice actually reminds me a bit of Madonna when she hits some low notes. Aurora is just herself. She's incredibly expressive, and gets lost in her songs, while also being very deliberate with her delivery. Silja is one of Aurora's most beloved past collaborators, along with Magnus, her former drummer, best friend, and current occasional collaborator. I saw Aurora perform live this past friday, and she has two backing vocalists now. Amalie has been with her for a while now, and she is just wonderful. She accompanies Aurora's vocals beautifully, and they have a very close friendship. There is another newer addition to the touring band (Thea Wang). Both backing vocalists are incredibly talented. But I think deep down, we all miss Silja singing with Aurora. They were truly in sync with each other.

What to say about Aurora..... 🤔.
First I will say that her message to the world to accept people that just are themselves is the most important message in the world. Think about all the bullying and other things that could be avoided.
Aurora is a true beliver in that she wants to keep as much "the child" as possible. So her fantastic humor can be a bit "childish" in a way.
Her concerts are very strange. It feels like she is not doing a concert. It feels like she is performing and talking with a group of family and friends. There is thousands there, but still it feels that she is taking to me. I have seen her live 5 times, and every time she surprises me.
Dont let the "childish jokes" fool you, she is a VERY intelligent human.
She is not afraid to show you her mistakes, sometimes it feels like she "underline" them, because in todays world with Instagram and stuff, everyone is perfect, but in reality nobody is.
She is silly and fun in one moment, deeply serious the next, and then blows you away with her art the next, and then she is back, just beeing the girl next door, tiny Aurora from Bergen, Norway. She is so wierd, and I love it 😂

I could be wrong, but it was my understanding that this was recorded during a live radio broadcast--so NO post-processing.
Aurora is ethereal, otherworldly and captivating. There is no harshness in her voice, she does not shout or scream, her movements are spontaneous and graceful and she immerses herself completely in the song and the meaning of the lyrics. Her lyrics are often quite disturbing when you listen to them closely. They sometimes have hidden meanings, as though the words she is painting with symbolise something dark laying underneath an embroidered coverlet. This song is about domestic abuse. Did you notice?
I recommend you a Spanish singer her name is Diana Navarro with the song "El perdón" she is a singer that transmits a lot when she sings and has incredible melismas. She is also very versatile when it comes to singing. She sings different musical styles. Best regards

I'm autistic so I think I can relate to Aurora who is also autistic, she has stated it herself. That might explain the way she acts which is authentically herself but might be hard for people to put their finger on if they dont know lol
Yeah, she seems very 'lost' in the emotion of the story she sings, and lets out some of the energy and emotion through her movements.. at least that's my interpretation, of course. Ends up feeling genuine- because it is, not a choreography (unless it's one of the videos where she dances of course), but also fits the song and tells a story

I've often wondered if Aurora is a synaesthete, with how she seems to paint and move the sounds with her hands. Or, she could just be very artistic. Wonderful, nonetheless.

Silja Sol is just incredible. And fyi, there was no post edit of this song. It was a live performance. That's the whole point of this. Just raw performance. One thing about Aurora is that she hate "polish" If she sound shit (so to speak) I will sound shit she says. She is honest to a fault. And I love that about her. Edit: And by the way, this performance is not 'perfect' You can hear (some) breaks of Auroras voice at one, maybe two places. There is a part where there is a slight dissonance between Silja, the guitar and Aurora as well. But that is what makes this a master piece. They did that piece raw. Edit again (sorry). I'm sorry. It kind of cheapen the reaction for me. To know that you think that this was post edited. It kind of take away the marvel that is Aurora and your reaction to it. Yes I know. Aren't you missing two or three entire dimensions of that song: like the poetic nature, the content of the lyrics and its (potential) implications?
The Guitarist/Vocalist's name is Silja not Celia.
Aurora is a prototype of a human. Or at least close to what a human being should be.
The adjective you need is "different". It sums her up in every way. Those movements are not concious, according to her and I strongly suspect that she "paints" the song in the same way. She sings in the moment and there is little bound between her and her song. btw she does paint as well.
