*Hey Robo, I found this neat little mod if you're interested.* The Mafex RO Vader is already perfect but I found that the helmet was a tad too small, so I put the upper helmet piece from the Model Kit Vader and put some double-sided painters tape to hold it onto the mask. Now the helmet and the figure as a whole is PERFECTO imo!
Just know that every time you say MAFEX I'll be watching and shaking my head when you say it the "wrong" way. I searched TH-cam one day to try to find a native Japanese speaker saying it. Best I could find he pronounced it "MUFFEX." So there you go.

This looks pretty awesome!!!! The Batman Begins Batman look is one of my favorites(despite the fact I like the Dark Knight Batman costume more) and I feel like this is the best 6 inch scale Batman Begins figure. Only thing I don't like is the unmasked head, it still has that same issue with deceiving looks from the prototype pics. But other than that, this is pretty decent. Hope the one I get won't have QC issues
Personally, the head reminds me more of Patrick Bateman from American Psycho than it does Bruce Wayne (the face just looks so emotionless and gives that "something ain't right" feeling).
This figure is way better than I expected! I do have a couple issues. The unmasked Bale sculpt is so so, and I hate the seem in the cowl. It’s cool that the cowl is one piece, but since they put a seem in it anyway, they may as well made it 2 pieces. The lack of accessories to recreate the proto suit kinda sucks. I’m thinking they’ll pack in a ski mask, and interchangeable belt with another figure. The Scarecrow comes with accessories to recreate the Batmonster (Scarecrow’s nightmare) Cool review 🦇 👍🏻
Conspiracy TV True. This figure reminds me of the old 12” Batman Begins made by Takara. A good figure but not quite perfect. I’ll stick to the NECA one. Not perfect but for $60 cheaper, I can’t complain.
Horrorman Unfortunately there is no Begins figure for me. I only like the 6” scale for figures so NECA is a no go and while I don’t hate this figure, like you said it’s just not good enough to justify its price. That’s where I’m at with Mafex now, if the figure is just “good” it’s not worth the purchase for them when you consider their QC issues, loose joints, orange skin tone, etc. The face sculpt of this figure has always looked bad to me, even in the promo shots it was off. If Mafex’s JL Batman looks the way it does in promo shots It’ll be the first one I’ve bought in a while because it looks great. And their Catwoman 2.0 turned out awesome as well. I just don’t know if I need Catwoman in my collection.
Conspiracy TV the NECA one is $20 though...just display him buy itself😉 Yeah I’m being pick with these MAFEX. I’m getting the Scarecrow only because nobody else made one...plus he wears a mask. So no real skin tone worries.
Horrorman I don’t think that one will have orange skin anyways for the unmasked head. Good thing about the promos, is atleast they’re honest about the skin tone so you know ahead of time.

Happy Festivus Robo! Have you got yourself a Black Series Jaina Solo yet? I got mine today and I recommend grabbing one when you can. The “ab crunch” articulation is a bit different from the other Black Series figures, and in my opinion, it’s an improvement.
I was expecting this figure to be a little bit larger, this mixes things quite a bit. I passed on the SHF Joker because the promo images from Mafex looked better (I usually prefer to buy SHF over Mafex because of better face paints and less quaility issues), but In this case I was going to go with the mafex figures to have more characters that would all be in scale together, but seeing how this figure is a little bit shorter than mafex usually makes them, it seems both companies will for once have a very similar scale, that and seeing how some people say the images don't do the SHF Joker justice and he looks way better in hand, Im going to have to wait for reviews for the Mafex to decide which one to get (we all know mafex figures has can look amazing in promo pics and a lot worse once the product comes out), This will also make things dificult when it comes to the Selina Kyle Figure (Mafex's is coming out soon and even tho I usually like SHF female figures better, I guess Ill have to buy the Mafex one till the SHF one comes out and then decide if I change it or keep the Mafex one). In the end I think its good that both lines will be in similar scale, that way we'll be able to pick and choose which ones to buy (much like what I do with my Star Wars collection) to have the best figures of each character regardless of the company. Great review Robo and have a happy new year, May it be a year full of great action figures!!! (and lots of preorders :P)

I just got my Mafex Batman Begins figure after it sat in Tokyo for a few months (stupid virus!). I like the mid landing pose you did. I think that's how I'll pose mine, as Deadpool says, "Super hero landing!"

The sculpt on that thing looks amazing I looks like a good figure and mafex continues to make figures with almost no QC yours seems like it has almost none but I saw another reviewer that the arm broke off... Is the arm tight??
Also if a letter is uppercase you would naturally use a different sound then the lowercase. A versus a for example. If just looking at the letter by them selves of course you’d call them both an A. But when put into a word they would be different sounds I think. That’s what makes sense to me.

Medicom really needs to fix their unmasked headsculpts, specifically the skin tone. Once they do that and keep their quality control stable, then their figures would be absolutely incredible.

MAFEX is actually an acronym not a word. So I believe it’s ok to pronounce the A like you would when saying your ABCs. Walmart is a word as in super market, mart being short I think for market. And McDonald’s doesn’t have an a between m and c so...

From my knowledge of the Catwoman Model 1, her current price tag in convincing, but her review on her fragile hands are not. Unless you are good at repairs, save you money for the new one. Somehow, Bane slipped my mind and I'm currently in the habit of collecting 1:12 scale figures staring with the DBZ model kits. Can'r wait to get a new Nolan Bane.
Oh yeah, I'm not going back for Catwoman 1.0, I should have 2.0 this week and I can already tell it's better. And I know Bane gets a lot of hate but I can't wait fr that figure.
Me too. I see how the upper torso is a deviation too narrow, but perhaps of deceptive poses can fix that, or maybe it compensates with an overall "large" stature despite his proportions.

Great figure but man i do not like these mafex heads. Kylo Ren especially made me notice how good black series sculpts are. Both are painted pretty terribly but the actors face is there with the black series. Definitely puts figuarts over the edge for me.
It’s a nice figure, good sculpt, good paint app, decent accessories but the articulation kind of sucks. That surprised me cuz Necas predators have great articulation, at least the 5 I have do. Also there’s no unmasked head of Bale which makes the mahfex or mayfex😜 much better. Have you watched the new series on Netflix yet? The toys that made us! It’s great and they have some great q&a with David vonner and the dude that works for Neca (long hair forget his name). Check it out

If you don't have it I highly recommend it "HIGHLY"... GO GET IT and do that review please... If my house was on fire... ultron would be the first figure I'll grab.. Soap Studios showed a Bruce Wayne in a suit, if you don't mind cloth like Mezco. And I think they said Punisher would be based on his series, not Daredevil.

After seeing this review, I can't be sure if MAFEX will keep improving or not. On one hand they released the best Spider-Man Homecoming figure beating an already pretty nice SHF, but everything related to live action characters that aren't completely covered in armor from head to toes have been subpar with the exception of TDK's Joker. The original design of this Batman doesn't make it any favors for articulation and dynamic posing, but the masked face looks kinda cheap and don't get me started on the horrid Bruce Wayne head that looks NOTHING like Bale. Having said all of this...it's not a bad release. Just not a great one. Mafex's Justice League line is looking good tho.
I love the Batman Begins suit. I don’t think it gets enough attention in action figure form. It’d be great in statue form too.
Batman Begins is really good. I like the suit and the movie as a whole more than TDK. The definitive Batman movie is Mask of the Phantasm.

That's what I've done too. I figure even if the MAFEX is off, it can't be as off as the face on the SHF looks. That is one weird head.

I haven't had to tighten anything yet. The hip drops down a little by itself but nothing major.

MAFEX is actually an acronym not a word. So I believe it’s ok to pronounce the A like you would when saying your ABCs. Walmart is a word as in super market, mart being short I think for market. And McDonald’s doesn’t have an a between m and c so...
On eBay there's a batman begins and it said mafex49 batman begins, but in the box does not said mafex, just batman and the bat logo. Is a fake mafex right?
I gotta think it is. The box has a big MAFEX logo on the front across the top. Usually if it's cheap and from China, it's a bootleg.

Unless you are good at repairs, save you money for the new one. Somehow, Bane slipped my mind and I'm currently in the habit of collecting 1:12 scale figures staring with the DBZ model kits. Can'r wait to get a new Nolan Bane.
Oh yeah, I'm not going back for Catwoman 1.0, I should have 2.0 this week and I can already tell it's better. And I know Bane gets a lot of hate but I can't wait fr that figure.
Me too. I see how the upper torso is a deviation too narrow, but perhaps of deceptive poses can fix that, or maybe it compensates with an overall "large" stature despite his proportions.
I'm curious as to why anyone would release this only just now considering that the movie's more than 10 yrs old (and I could say the same thing in regards to SH Figuarts just releasing The Dark Knight Batman earlier this year as well). I guess better late than never... But, why only now??

I wonder if you could get a cheap bruce in the nomac suit mattel movie master figure and cut off the straps and use that for the begins presuit and use the ski mask as well cause it was rubber ahh modifications yay sweet review!
Great figure but man i do not like these mafex heads. Kylo Ren especially made me notice how good black series sculpts are. Both are painted pretty terribly but the actors face is there with the black series. Definitely puts figuarts over the edge for me.
It’s a nice figure, good sculpt, good paint app, decent accessories but the articulation kind of sucks. That surprised me cuz Necas predators have great articulation, at least the 5 I have do. Also there’s no unmasked head of Bale which makes the mahfex or mayfex😜 much better. Have you watched the new series on Netflix yet? The toys that made us! It’s great and they have some great q&a with David vonner and the dude that works for Neca (long hair forget his name). Check it out

Yeah, it kind of surprised me. I bought it a while back at a good price but never opened it, thinking it would be loose and floppy. Nope, it's pretty nice. Maybe too wrinkly, but I'm okay with that. And maybe I'll throw it into a rapid fire review. Give me a chance to shoot more pics with it.

If you don't have it I highly recommend it "HIGHLY"... GO GET IT and do that review please... If my house was on fire... ultron would be the first figure I'll grab.. The Fwoosh My version one was always loose and finally broke at the forearm, sucks cuz it was my favorite figure. I love the dark Knight movies so hopefully they nail version 3

Not yet, but the Mezco should come around. The way Medicom is going I wouldn't be surprised if they announce Ra's soon too. They are going all-in with that line, it seems.

After seeing this review, I can't be sure if MAFEX will keep improving or not. On one hand they released the best Spider-Man Homecoming figure beating an already pretty nice SHF, but everything related to live action characters that aren't completely covered in armor from head to toes have been subpar with the exception of TDK's Joker. The original design of this Batman doesn't make it any favors for articulation and dynamic posing, but the masked face looks kinda cheap and don't get me started on the horrid Bruce Wayne head that looks NOTHING like Bale. Having said all of this...it's not a bad release. Just not a great one. Mafex's Justice League line is looking good tho.
