Jesse along with Fives, Kix and Hardcase are perhaps some of Rex's most loyal friends. If it werent for the chip, Jesse wouldn't even think of raising his blaster on Rex.
“The chip is to blame, the chip is to blame, I’m a moron and the chip is to blame,” this is how I see the words of people who believe that the clones carried out the order because of the chip. CLONES SERVE THE REPUBLIC, FOR A CLONE THERE IS NOTHING MORE IMPORTANT THAN THE REPUBLIC, by order of the republic the brothers stand for execution, by order of the republic the clones destroy sectors. A Jedi is nothing to a clone other than a temporary commander, but still, for a clone, THE REPUBLIC COMES FIRST. If the Jedi are idiots and betrayed the republic, then the clone is not to blame that the order was given to destroy the traitors and the chip is also not to blame.
a background clone at the start of the series that made his way up the chain of command along side his friends to in the end being one of the only remaining members of torrent company, just to be used as a puppet for the soon to rise empire... In an ocean of troops who shared the same DNA, for me, jeese will always be one of the final gut punch for me in this series.
Jesse was underrated. I liked his character development in the episodes he was in; he made it to ARC Trooper which he worked hard for. It's a shame how he died though.
I feel like had the ship not crashed, then Asoka and rex were going to try and get the chips out of every one of them. Afterall Rex was using tazer mode on his pistols, and the robots threw them up and down repeatedly... its sad though that whatever the captain in the bridge was thinking, they end up crashing and almost all dying in that one single instance. But I suppose thats what they get for being ripped out of hyperspace. Still though, a absolute tragedy that through wanting to save them, Asoka and Rex doom them to death.
I always wished we got more of Jesse, Hardcase, Tup, and Kix, they were very minor characters but such good ones and all had personality, they were all great soldiers and became Rex's best buds. Hell the 3 should have been Arc Troopers by the start of Umbara.
Crazy how he got promoted from Corporal to ARC Trooper Lieutenant after Fives' death. Shame we still don't know how it happened or how marksman or Corporals get promoted quickly in the Grand Army of the Republic.
I don't believe Jesse was ever a corporal since, in "The Deserter," Kix refers to him as "sir" which means he would at least be a sergeant. It's also quite possible that Jesse has always been a lieutenant, but I personally believe it makes more sense for him to have started as a sergeant and been promoted to lieutenant sometime later in the war.
I just realized with the spherical cockpits and the kinda vertical wings, even green lasers, the Umbaran starfighters are probably based off the good ole TIE Fighters.
Jesse was unintentionally damned by Rex's own words. You really get the feeling that if Rex hadn't given the orders under the control of Order 66, Jesse might have actually listened to him in their final confrontation. He clearly *wants* too, but at such a critical moment the idea of Rex being compromised forces him to question where his loyalties lie. Who is Rex in this moment? Is he the guy fumbling for justification to spare Ashoka and failing to keep his men in line? Or is is he the unflinchingly duty-bound commader who's order have never steered Jesse wrong? It's a good way to show Order 66 wasn't just the mind control; it really made everyone question who they were able to trust and turned their morals and ideals into chains they could be strangled with.
