I see that you have one end of the 304 Dial-O-Grain scale resting on a rubber mat and the other end of it resting on the workbench. These scales need to be leveled before zeroing them or youre not going to get an accurate measurement... at least not from what Ohaus/RCBS said in their manual and from what I have tested with my 304 scale

Good video, I always heard the Hornady scales are bad and dont work well, I am glad to see one that works well, I love my digital scales, I have 2 that I use, and they seem to produce consistent results, but honestly I think any measuring device that gets within .1 grains is going to be very sufficient for 99% of most shooters, I think the Analog scales have the capability to be more accurate but are a much bigger hassle and time consuming. I still load a lot of ammo by volume using the Lee Dippers and Lee Loaders with great results and when weighing those volume charges .1-.2 grains seems to be the consistent variation.

If your not shooting bench rest, the technical aspect of powder weight will not affect you. Bullet run out and primer selection based on temp/altitude will cause more variation that .2 grains of powder in charges in excess of approx 30 grains and heavier. Fast powders in pistols maybe, slower powders in rifles; I’ve hand loaded too many to know better.

It's funny that the analog is time consuming to get an accurate zero but the Hornady scale required the same amount of time to get, 10.0 9.9 and 9.8 measurements. I also liked the "accurate enough" comment.

Digital ease of use/consistency for ME outweighs the more time consuming efforts of analog. Guessing YMMV.

Good vid bro. The 310 I just got n excited to use if u shake the try u can hear stuff in there. That’s I understand to calibrate the beam scale. I can say I have a electronica scale that is accurate too .005. Yes a 1/2a tho. I’ll up date the name later as I’m not in my gun room. Maybe like most I have a pile of scales but no horndy scales. I’ll say the newest electronics scale get me the best Standard deviation numbers I have yet to see. Now I am just kinda gettin into reloading. But I think an SD of 5 FPS using a LabRadar is great for my 308 using a 155gr SMK Palma round w Varget powder n BR primers n lapua brass. I am curious to see how the old beam scale will do. But again great vid bro.

This video perfectly illustrates why I use only an analog scale. Your digital showed 9.8, 9.9, and 10. I'm OCD. MAKE UP YOUR DAMN MIND! I would yell at the digital before tossing it in the trash.

At least with the digital I can actually SEE 9.8, 9.9 and 10.0. Impossible to distinguish between 9.9 and 10 on my analog scale. To each their own.

Scale + Rubber Mat = Trouble

Before, mechanical scales were of good quality. Today, manufacturers have completely abandoned the niche of mechanical scales in favor of more profitable electronic scales. the models offered today are of poor quality, unreliable, and economically designed.

Your beam scale will never be accurate the way you're using it. It must be sitting on a single, level, flat surface.

Ultimate Reloader got Hornady Digital scales are horrible all over a video.
    It smelled funny to me.
That RCBS Beam Scale looks huge and overly complicated.
I personally chose the Dillon (3) Poise beam scale.
My brain likes 3 not two.
Two just seems obtuse to me.
It has big markings and to me stabilizes quickly.
I scoop & trickle hand gun load development.
I use Lyman check weights and it or they are accurate.

Your video is obviously biased towards digital, both have a place but you need to learn how to use balance scale correctly.
Yours is in need of a service!

Yep, digital all the way for me. Not going to spend the $ (or effort/time) getting an analog/mechanical scale serviced. To each their own.

As all have said you are not using the beam scale correctly ,those models are famous for being extremely accurate scales and the pinnacle of beam scales
