Where are you getting the mycelium to inject? Are you scraping from and agar plate and mixing with distilled water to make your own mixture and syringe? Or are you vying an LC and using that? And thank you for the great video!
Ah, I'm so glad you enjoyed the video! So this culture I'm using is grown from spores I collected from some mushrooms I grew. I took a spore print, scraped the spores into some distilled and sterilised water. Once they rehydrated, I injected the multi spore solution into a mixture of 4% honey (my very first video shows the culture I made from the spores) once it grew out and consumed all the sugars, I drew up some syringes and then used those to inoculate these 6 jars! I try and return to spores often as it's a great way to maintain vigour. The mushrooms that grow from this are all different shapes and sizes.....great if you're pheno hunting!
I haven't mate. There are a few other syrups and things I'd like to try. My local grocer has date, plum and mango syrup. Could be interesting to see if they work
@@BigMush9000 my mentor likes honey at 1%. I've read in forums that less concentrated solutions are better for long term storage but I have no articles or personal data to compare
@steveduffett1 I saw your other comment but youtube has deleted it.....regarding corn syrup....can be difficult finding it in Coles or woolies. Best bet is to try a small Asian or Indian grocery. They usually have it.....failing that you can get it off Amazon, that's where I get mine. A little exy but ah well. The corn syrup I used in this is light corn syrup.
I wonder if the growth of 8% honey culture was sluggish because nutritious was too much? In any case, liquid culture is a great way to obtain mycelium and its active ingredients.
@cats.mushroom an interesting theory, but I'm doubtful given I had such a good response in super nutritious corn syrup. One would expect extra nutrition would lead to massive growth either mycelial or contam, given I had almost zero growth I suspect it's a case of net energy loss as a result of caramelisation. The mycelium uses more energy consuming the complex sugars than it receives from those sugars.
@@BigMush9000 Brown sugar too for that matter.?. I just got into cultivating cannabis two years ago, and thinking of doing some mushrooms. I've pretty much got everything I need already. I would like trying micro dosing for my mental problems, mainly to see if it can help my serotonin and dopamine levels.?. Have any recommendations or advice for a beginner??? I want to start simple before investing too much $.
10 points to whoever finds my misspelling of colonising :D
Should we all chip in and get him a stir plate? 😁 😘
@@fungidelicmushrooms was just thinking I should get one soon!
Wow awesome timelapse at the end 🤯
Big time :D
Good video
@cryptohound ah thanks mate, I'm glad you think so!

Awesome results. Did you use normal corn syrup or light? Light corn syrup is quite hard to find here in Ireland.
I used light corn syrup. I believe the darker stuff/karo work well also!
@@BigMush9000 yep karo works kinda like honey
Curious if you’ve ever used golden syrup. If so, how did it go?

I like honey @1.5%
Yeah, it's seems lc doesn't require so much nutrition....it's just a buffet for contam

4 percent honey and I add peptones. Thick potent LC every single time.
@@cryptohound I gotta give that a try!
Soy peptones are pretty hard to find here
What % of Peptones you add please mate?

@@BigMush9000 Your consideration is logical and makes sense. Another possibility is corn syrup had a rich source of nitrogen, but honey had less.
@cats.mushroom quite possible! This is why I love experimenting. Each answer posits numerous questions!

What about molasses?
Curious to know how that would work
