Great advice. One thing that distinguishes handyman businesses from other home service providers is the relational element. When someone refers to you as “my handyman,” you’ve arrived. Even more than skill and expertise, people are looking for someone they TRUST… someone they trust to be in their home alone, someone they trust to be around their kids, someone they trust isn’t going to screw over their friends and family members when they recommend you.

I think the negative connotations with the term 'handyman' really lie within other segments of the trades rather than with the general public. I get on electricians' and plumbers' forums and videos and that's where the bulk of the trash talk and negative perceptions of handyfolks seems to lie, while the general public still wants and needs handymen because they know general or specialized contractors aren't gonna want to deal with smaller or varied tasks. My business is Carquinez Strait Handyman Services, geographically named to represent the areas around the Carquinez Strait between Solano and Contra Costa counties in the SF bay area. So far so good.
Great points, I personally prefer being considered a Maintenance Tech or a Building Engineer, but I have to remember you have to dumb-it-down so it makes it easier on people. I really enjoy your content by the way.

Changed description to plumber from handyman, greatly increased earnings installing plumbing fixtures. Calling myself a master toilet mechanic didn't help though, lol.
