Well i gave up the handyman business. It was good to me but i used my profits to build a 20 acre rv park and develop a dumpster rental business. So long handyman, I learned a lot from you.
That's awesome. Congratulations. Where is the RV park?
@TheHandymanBusiness Kellycreekrvpark.comin Alabama 2 hrs from Panama city Florida
I'm jealous. Looks like an amazing place.
Way to go!! Glad to hear it!! RV parks are the way of the future for sure! Not enough housing to go around and home aren’t getting any cheaper! Me and my wife lived in a tiny house after we got married for 5 years starting back in 2017 and we loved it! I always wanted an rn park because I new it was the future but it’s so expensive to get into! Hope you have a great time! Be good to those Tiny Home people!!
@TheHandymanBusiness well come see Me if you buy another sail boat. You'll probably drive right by me
I am a Journeyman HVAC technician and I am very impressed with his technique of this installation he did everything correct the only thing he didn't use is a micron gauge to prove 500 microns but I believe with running that pump for 45 minutes and proving a good pressure test he was fine
Without a micron gauge nobody will ever know. Could be perfect and run for years no issues, or the compressor will crap out.
We always used an adjustable torque wrench. I'm not sure about putting anything on those flare fittings.
"Decision Paralysis" is a real thing. Steve Jobs was famous for always wearing the same black turtleneck and jeans everyday. When asked about it, he said he did that to keep his wardrobe options simple - a few less decisions to start the day. It might allow for one or two larger decisions later on.
Hey handy, Long time viewer and hvac guy. If you are going to be installing these more often Harbor freight has a 2 cfm CORDLESS vacuum pump now and hvac techs have said it's perfect for mini splits. I would highly recommend getting a vacuum gauge if you don't have one. Industry best practice now is to pull to 250 microns and make sure it doesn't rise above 500 in 15 minutes. Also not familiar with tosot but some brands have a kick stand for the Head unit so you can service the lineset but they are probably more pricey. been watching for a long time and now I've gotten a few months of hvac videos from you so I feel spoiled haha. Great video bud.
“The paralyzation phase” that can’t be more true. I’ve always tried to find a word for it when you’re so busy you don’t even know where to start. Or, you try and make a few people happy but don’t have enough time to do them all so you do some of each. Great video!
Don't forget to ring that...15:03 and enjoy Handyman's pure delight!
Im a big advocate of bundling and securing your wires/line set with tape/zip ties and a bracket or two. Can save a lot of hassle in the event something bumps your equipment or bad weather beats your equipment up.
I installed my own from amazon, glad I saved 3,000$ :D!
It’s funny, I charge same price here in Houston and the job was a lot more complicated to include electrical work but I never got a call back lol. Too many competition here.
Would recommend a flaring tool (to easily shorten the lineset at times) and a micron gauge but great install otherwise! We pressure test all of our AC units and minisplit installs to about 510 PSI to ensure no leaks, then vacuum down the system to about 300 microns and perform a decay test. We also pull schrader cores for faster evacuation, pressurize it to about 10 PSI of refrigerant, pull the hose and replace the valve core, and fully open the refrigerant valve.
HVAC is such a money maker.
I’ve put in a couple when customers ask. I don’t have the overhead of maintaining warehouse or crews. One thing the control board is expensive so I install surge protector at quick disconnect
Long time no post, glad you still hustling
I still post every week on my main youtube channel.
You could've saved time by mounting the unit on those existing command strips. You're welcome 😂
You can make a jig out of plywood that will make starting your hole in the brick way more easy and precise . It's just a piece of plywood with a hole the size of the bit that keeps it from walking on you
We are happy for you Handyman. We need you man 😅
Lost tool time 🙄. Been there!!
That's why everything has to go back to its correct place. Time = Money
Nice job Handy, easy money 💕👏👍 I get like that too when I have two many things to do I just shutdown and don't do any for a couple days 🤣 gotta recharge and reset, rest the old brain too
I have been wanting to see someone good do an install of a mini split, thanks handyman!! Keep up the good vids! Also what are those anchors you used for the outside bracket?
Por15 2 part epoxy last tub i did, still perfect. Rust-Oleum i have had it come off with use
What one did you use. I have used their paint on rust. I didn't know they made one for tubs.
Only extra tool I would have is an appion core removal tool as to not lose your vacuum or any Freon because you never have to disconnect it until you are finished. 80 bucks on amazon. Obviously you get the job done but maybe you haven’t heard of that particular tool. Just FYI
Thanks.
Thanks , I learned something......PTAC units are what stand the test of Tiempo
9:11 Why no ratchet or or a screw gun?
I forgot my sockets.
1 hour looking for lost tools :) man I really relate to that.
Will you be doing a video of that tub resurfacing process? I was contemplating it for a bathroom project I have going on..
It should be out in a few days on my main channel
Your girl is here.
That brick dust is the worst.
I hate this drilling crowns. Use diamond ones to prevent destruction of the wall
Was the lineset not long enough to better center the indoor unit for improved air distribution?
Wish I could cut my “looking for lost tools” down to an hour. 🙄😫
What licences do you have or need to do this?
While the units bay advertised as diy. The epa strongly disagree when it comes to releasing or adding charge to it.
Who do they call when it breaks? lol
5 year warranty. After that it's cheaper to replace it then repair it.
🇺🇸🤘 Heck Yeah Handy Dandy 🤘🇺🇸
That’s what’s up….
❤❤❤❤❤
How do you go about getting the nitrogen?
I buy it at a welding shop supply store.
Handy, is this tub a Hobbit tub?
Man I bet that thing blows some nice, cold, clean air when it’s brand new like that.
Mine smells like an old video store

Type of mini split please? Blessings!

@@TheHandymanBusiness thank you Sir.
Try to make time lol
Most states you need electrical license to do that work.
Thats just silly.
Most states you need a license to drive too, but we stopped giving a shit about that now in most places 😂
My city stopped enforcing minor traffic infractions. No license plates needed anymore. You can steal from stores now too.

Handyman messing with our industry. Thats ok. I can still service em when they break 😂
If you dont wiggle the bit after you go all the way thru you aint no handyman.
Are those things pre charged? No refrigerant liscense needed?
They all come pre charged.
@dantheman20127667 You still need an EPA certification to work with it; but yes they come pre-charged. The one caveat is that they are pre-charged for a pre-determined lineset length. If you go over that, then more refrigerant would need to be added.
@stevenohnsat7535 OK, same as a "full sized" split system then
Is your drill a 3/8 or 1/2?
The chuck? 1/2
Why’d you mount it so close to the wall/window?
Didn't want to see the line sets run across the wall. Line sets are only 16 feet. Its a rental.
@@TheHandymanBusiness thanks
What type of license is required to install minisplits for a customer in your area? I have a basic EPA 608 but I use it for my own installations on my own properties.
Drivers license
@TheHandymanBusiness There have been changes for 2024. In order to legally install a mini split system, you are now also required to have forklift license as well.
What are you talking about?
Honey bees
Its highway robbery what they charge to install these things.
Joist is cheaper
@@Tetianaoutdoors are you talking about the app? I’ve been using it since it was free.
Was about to make a Joist plug when I saw this. Been with them for 4 years, aint changing lol.
@@jabronisrus they started strong, but got kinda shady after PayPal took over their payment services.
Nothing I hate more than poking holes in other peoples houses
I dont do them because im not licensed here, but guys around here install them for 3-$400 labor.
It's $5,000 per head around here and most other places too.
3to400? Seriously?
Omg I can’t believe people pay this price…
I have been wanting to see someone good do an install of a mini split, thanks handyman!! Keep up the good vids! Also what are those anchors you used for the outside bracket?
3/8 inch red heads.
