A lice comb, but soak the mane with Dawn dish soap and vinegar, then after you rinse the soap.off, put conditioner in. I've found that works for me. Best Regards from a Retired Paramedic and Horse Trainer in Ontario, Canada, Jenn 💖 🇨🇦
Lice comb, dish soap and vinegar and lemon oil to prevent return
Baby oil! My farrier told me to use it. I put it on my colt's legs & they were gone the next day. I didn't even have to scrape them off. Haven't had them in any of their manes, but it should work for that too
I volunteered at a horse rescue for about 10 years as a teen/early twenties (stopped due to health unfortunately) we always used used a very fine tooth comb, and some main oil, I can’t remember what it was called but it was a leave in oil that smelt like herbs which apparently acted as a repellent.
The oil helped to make them slide off too.
Metal scrapers on the legs/body, but if it was a particularly bad day with a ton of some really strong ones, we’d again use a little dab of the oil.
Lice comb. Lice shampoo. Rub it in dry. Come thru. Rinse out. Use Mane and Tail conditioner. Tea tree oil to prevent reinfestation
Bot knife, warm water with dawn dish detergent. I've heard that neem oil works too, but I'd try the bot knife/dawn/water first because it's not as expensive.
I have had success with a bot fly knife too. I try not to clean the horse where they could ingest the eggs I've removed.
@@nikpars1618 YES! Regardless of the removal message. I didn't think to mention that. Good call!
Tea tree oil. Used in Australia for head lice in children. Similar to eucalyptus oil.
Lice comb spay the main first with insect repellant dip the comb in oil
Old way is to soak a cloth in parafin and rub gently on the hair . it kills the eggs.
I like this idea! Paraffin wax is cheap, and widely available.
A lice comb?
Probably vinegar. Soak it in vinegar for atlest 1 hour to break down the glue that the fly makes, then shampoo it and let it dry out pretty fast then apply A LOT of olive oil..i mean alot(of vinegar too the first application) like at least 1 whole bottle of Costco olive oil maybe even a bottle and a half to where it is drenched and dripping. And then the closest thing that I can think of that would work as a kind of lice comb on horse hair is if you go to a beauty supply store and ask them for a metal teasing comb. You might have to order the cone from Amazon because they're pretty old school lol I have like two left over from my high school days in the early 2000s. But the olive oil is natural and it will help to Slick off those eggs that the vinegar broke the glue down on. Plus it's an amazing moisturizer for tails and manes. So honestly that is the most effective a natural way I can think of to do it. Let me know how it works out💚✨ 🐎
Dish soap or a conditioner and a small tooth comb (flea comb)
My dad would use a flea comb meant for cats or dogs.
Flea comb! Lice comb, etc... flea comb would get the job done!
A little bit of hair conditioner and a headlice comb.
I've found vegetable oil works very well. Oil it, next day just use fine tooth comb.
I think Ballistol Animal care Oil works.
I used to have a porus bot fly remover that would probably work. With a good worming program I finally did not have them on my horses. When the neighbor next door got a horse we had them again.
Dawn and water in a spray bottle and a boar brush.
Lice comb with oils like tea tree
I thought that was a girl with beautiful long, dark brown hair and a tan/brown sweater on until you said mane and it started clicking for me 😂
use a lice comb after applying almond or coconut oil.
I suggest any kind of acidic like vinegar or lemon juice, mixed with any kind of oil, like olive or vegetable oil. You can add dish soap or not, like Dawn. Or you can add a fragrance oil but it's not necessary. The acidic will kill the eggs and the oil will make them slide off. I used this as a homeopathic recipe for head lice on my kids. Better than using chemicals. ❤️
Fly comb and cowboy magic.
Baking soda mixed with shampoo is a soft abrasive used for human hair to take care of buildup.
Cheap easy thing to try.
A small tooth comb. Then you comb and comb some more also use a detangler so they will stick to plastic small comb 😊
Rosemarie oil at least overnight and lice comb
When I lived in Los Angeles County, we would gently run a razor blade along the hair, and that would scrape them off. Oddly, I later owned horses in North San Diego County, and never saw a single bot fly egg. L.A. is only an hours’ drive away!
Same here...used to see them on my Aunts horses when I was a kid, & I've never had them on my horses...3 hours away...
Try a flea comb or would a trick to get gum out of hair work? I think it’s peanut butter for gummy substances.
Coconut Oil with what work best for you to scrape off👍
Cat flea comb and soap/conditioner
Warm water and vinegar
Have a bottle of apply cider vinegar and cayenne pepper.
I alway used Hey Siri, how do you spell promise? Hey Siri, how do you spell pumice stone Works great.
Take Pam oil spray and a lice comb.
50% water and 50% apple"s vinegar in atomizer.
Vinegar, or Hair conditioner to smother them. They are so creepy, I watch vet's pull these bot flys out of cat's they are gross.
Would diatomaceous earth help?
Can you use a lice comb?
A lice comb should work.
Would a flea comb work?
Lice comb?
Hebi scrub or avon skin se seft notion
Someone already said it, but a bot knife.
Put some M.T.G., or try baby oil on them...then scrape them off...make sure you give an oral botta-cide/ wormer...as the real harm is when they ingest them, & they damage the lining of the stomach, & intestines.
A nit comb
WD-40
Where is that area that there blot fly that’s so dangerous
