Thanks for this. I'm a noob and just bought an updated version, so this video really speaks to me. A lot of what you say still applies. Side comment: I grew up in the islands and wore a toque religiously as a Bob Marley fan, so your headpiece has an OG feel for me. Not sure what your motivation is but you rock it well.
I have just upgraded to this monitor from the F5. One thing that I miss on the F6 is the option of having zebra displays as well as focus assist available at the same time. It only seems to be one or the other...
The little LED light is good for letting you know the monitor is getting power. For instance, when I plugged it in the other day I was not getting the screen was black, but I could see the screen with getting power. On a side note, I still don't know why the screen was black at the time. It scared me because I thought my camera output was bad. That turned out not to be the case, but the little LED light let me know the monitor was getting power.

one thing that irks me about this is that I can't control the camera from the monitor like I can via the touchscreen VF (viewfinder) on my Canon M50. sure, I can alter settings on the up/down/left/right/OK buttons on the back of the camera and that'll come through the monitor sweet, but I can't control those 'touch' settings (like controlling a focus point for a shot) on the monitor like I could on the VF touchscreen. I've tried remedying this in the settings of the camera but it seems like it's a no-go. pretty sure the rest of the Canon suite (R series DSLRs, etc.) are in the same boat. the rest is pretty solid and you've pointed out some things I've overlooked.
Would have been nice for you to demonstrate the focus peaking. My biggest problem with Feelworld monitors is the focus peaking - not nearly as good as on Atomos.

Plus you get all the focus assist lines focusing on the canon on screen display icons. its very distracting and annoying. so the faults of the freeworld f6 plus are that the focus assist was unreliable and the screen is very dim. This with unreliable focus assist made it unusable. i found the canon r5 monitor much better, more detailed and sharper. i have now decided to ditch the whole idea about an external monitor and learn to work with what i have. i hope this helps someone.
Hey Meek, 500nit a is definitely not a daylight viewable brightness. At least, not easily. I wish this form factor monitor was made with a >2,000nit brightness. In terms of the focus assist, there are a couple things that might help. First is to make sure your firmware is fully up to date. After that, you can adjust the sensitivity and color of the focus assist to best match your shooting environment and camera settings. I’ve found that to be extremely helpful in dialing in the exact focus marking I want. Hope this helps 🤙

Great review as usual... Would you use it outdoors on a gimbal? You say that the brightness is not great, so I don't know it this could be a good choice... Or maybe you would suggest something brighter?

Really great review! Can you only rotate it at the top or also at the hot shoe? So does it rotate in 1 or 2 axles? Hope you're having a good one! Greets from germany
My man, thanks for this review. I've been stumped if I should invest in an Atomos Ninja V or use this until money makes more sense. This seems like more than enough for my personal needs with the Nikon Z6ii. Sold.
I'm not sure if this feature exists, but it would be very useful if there was a setting where you can flip the image or reverse it. Like for selfie style.
Not on its own. You can load luts into Premiere and apply them to footage. This monitor uses luts to preview what the final look will be without ruining the LOG you're filming in.
Great video! :D Just bought the LUT6S myself. But I can not figure out how the Color temperature-setting under LUTs work. Have anybody figured that out? How come there are no 3200K setting there?
Wonderful and informative video. My trouble is, I just bought the Feelworld F6 Plus Monitor hoping to use it to monitor shooting video with my D3400, when I hook it up, it will only play whatever is on my SD card & it won't show anything when I push the Live button and or it only shows the play back options for the SD card? Is the camera not able to be used with an external monitor? Is there a specific setting or update on software? Thank you for any help you can give.
Usually that comes down to an HDMI setting in the camera. I found this online: www.nikonusa.com/en/learn-and-explore/a/tips-and-techniques/using-an-hdmi-recorder-and-external-monitor-with-your-hdslr.html
I’m currently having the exact same problem with my Nikon D3200. It only shows the SD card not the Live View. Did you figure out how to get it working? EDIT: Just worked it out! 2 years too late but maybe it could still help. In the HDMI settings within your camera, turn ‘device control’ OFF. That instantly showed the picture on my monitor :)
Hi, friend. I bought this monitor a few days ago. I notice that when filming the screen overheats. Did you have the same scenario with your monitor? I want to know if this is normal.
man .. u were in coorpotate sector, u would hv been the Jordan Belfort .. u explained this product soooooo well, wanting me to buy it for my M50, would u still recommend this for a Canon M50 or anything else ?
Honestly, any camera can be an amazing tool for filmmaking. It’s so much more important to have good glass (lenses) than it is to have a particular camera. I’m about to make a video on this very topic!
@@garrettsammons that cool , i recently bought the sigma 16mm f1.4 lens for mu canon m50 and the image i am getting now is so good , a good lens can hugely create a difference. If you’re looking to use a monitor outdoors, 1000nit would be the absolutely minimum I’d buy. There are a handful of monitors that live in the 2.2-3k range that work really well for the outdoors.

Help mine just arrived today and when i connected the screen to my dslr it displays nothing but "no signal". how can I appear the view to my f6 screen? thank you .
Great video. I just got this today in the post but my EOS RP has no micro HDMI out. Seems there are micro, medium and large HDMI. The RP has a medium. So frustrating all these different size ports. Did your cable come with the F6? Mine is two feet long. It's counter intuitive to have such a long cable. Any suggestions on where to buy short cables? I like em too but the smallest I can find is 3 feet. BTW love your minimalistic set. Subscribed.
Ton of different HMDI options! Micro HDMI is the smallest, Mini HDMI is the middle, and Type A HMDI is the large “standard” one. Pearstone makes cables I’d recommend. Short, swivels, and excellent build quality bhpho.to/39XxGau
Great presentation and review bro! I just got it in so I still have to play around with it, but I notice my quick menu doesn’t show false colour and I heard you can’t change that quick menu. Maybe I’m on an old firmware? Any thoughts?
Oh solid question! I don’t have this monitor anymore (I do gear giveaways) so I can’t say for sure. Sorry for the unsatisfactory answer! Always check to make sure you’re rocking the latest softwares though.
Can you confirm of the Feelworld F6 Plus has a waveform feature. I'm wanting to use the waveforms to check exposure using a X-Rite video card that has row of white-gray-black strips. Hence, does the F6 Plus have a waveform that can do this? The Feelworld website says it does have waveforms, but there are several youtube review of this F6 Plus, and not one of them mention waveforms.
@@garrettsammons I read the Feelworld's website about the firmware update. What do they mean about "Type C"? Do later models of Type C USB ports? Or does it mean something else by "Type C"?
I don’t see much of a need for monitors like this for photography. You’ll mostly be relying on autofocus and shooting in Raw. Those two features basically remove the need.
First of all what an awesome video, im planning to buy this monitor but at the end when u said its not that bright, this makes me think again, what are the results under the sun and daylight.
Being only 500nit, it’s not great in sunlight. That’s the unfortunate trade off. It’s a solid monitor, but even with the hood it would be hard to see in direct sun.
Hey! I just tried the F6 plus on my Canon M50 Mark II but I don't have access to the camera settings on the monitor (such as dual pixal autofocus, ISO, f/ etc ... all the Q menu basically) Fonctions I usually can access with the touch screen on my camera. Is there something I can do? Thanks !
Hi Marie! Some cameras have an “active display” option you can enable when connected to HDMI. Other cameras don’t allow active displays when HDMI is connected. I’m not entirely sure about the M50mkii but I’d check your settings to see if you can turn that on.
According to Feelworld's website, there is now a Version 2 of the F6 Plus that features a USB-C type input so that the monitor can be powered with a power bank. It also now features waveform and vector scope. I don't think they've shipped them out yet since no sellers seem to mention these new features or that there is a version 2 for that matter. Good news for people who already have the F6 Plus is that they can upgrade the firmware to include waveform and vector scope. If the new version 2 had 2200 nits brightness, then it would be perfect for my needs. As of now, I'm leaning more towards getting the Feelworld LUT7, which is 7" 2200 nits touch screen and can also accept custom LUTs. Both Adorama and B&H have two listings for the LUT7 and LUT7S. From what I've been able to gather, the LUT7S has HDMI and SDI input/outputs while the LUT7 only has HDMI input/outputs. Funny thing is that Feelworld's website only has the LUT7S and there is no mention of the LUT7 even though YT videos of Feelworld at IBC 2019 demo the "LUT7". Seems that you can only get the LUT7S right now from Adorama for $369. The LUT7 is $249, but it's listed as back-ordered on Adorama and listed as "pre-order" on B&H.
I just bought the lut7s on b&h. The listing stated "more on the way, 7 - 14 business days." So I would assume I will be getting the product guaranteed within that time frame, which is great.
Another TH-cam reviewer says the Canon battery has a tight fit into the plate and is hard to remove the Canon battery, therefore it's better to use Sony batteries instead. Is there any validity to that? Thanks for the detailed video, thumbs up!!

My man, thanks for this review. I've been stumped if I should invest in an Atomos Ninja V or use this until money makes more sense. This seems like more than enough for my personal needs with the Nikon Z6ii. Sold.
Great job!
Nice video!
Can you video record with this? As in will this be able to extend my video recording than 15mins on my canon camera like the Ninja?
Thank you Garrett!
I'm not sure if this feature exists, but it would be very useful if there was a setting where you can flip the image or reverse it. Like for selfie style.
I believe you can on this monitor.
Im sure I'm not the only one having this problem, how the hell do i lock the screen so when i flip the camera the monitor doesn't flip as well ?
Great video really detailed review of the monitor
Glad you enjoyed it
When you choose the LUT during filming will that LUT that you filmed in transpose into the editing software i.e. iMovie, Premiere Pro, etc.?
Not on its own. You can load luts into Premiere and apply them to footage. This monitor uses luts to preview what the final look will be without ruining the LOG you're filming in.
@@garrettsammonscan we upload our own luts?
Great video! :D Just bought the LUT6S myself. But I can not figure out how the Color temperature-setting under LUTs work. Have anybody figured that out? How come there are no 3200K setting there?
Can you do vertical video with this monitor?
Love this monitor, there's nothing better in this price range at the moment!
Hard agree! Wish it was a touch brighter, but at this price-point it can’t be beat.
I am planning to buy the Feelworld F5 pro , but my only concern is the 500 nits brightness, i will yse the monitor indoors fr my talking hrad youtube videos but also hv to use it outdoors with a gimble .. now concerbed how that screen brightness will perform using outdoor .. any suggestions ?
If you’re looking to use a monitor outdoors, 1000nit would be the absolutely minimum I’d buy. There are a handful of monitors that live in the 2.2-3k range that work really well for the outdoors.
@@garrettsammons yes, 1st of all at thus moment I don’t want to spend too much on a monitor, there is another company which has good monitor options I don’t remember the name now , and let me tell u .. its so gard to get lot of these brands in india, that forms another big problem.
How did the monitor performed wt a sun hood outdoors?
Thinking if all the means to make it work at this price range, so asking all these questions 🤣
@@garrettsammons now I remembered .. Andycine Monitors .. but i checked , not getting it in india right now ☹️, their ones r more brighter i think
question, I have a nikon z6 and for some reason can't record 4k with this monitor connected.... is there a setting on the camera or the monitor that i'm missing? I thought his monitor supported 4k?
Help mine just arrived today and when i connected the screen to my dslr it displays nothing but "no signal". how can I appear the view to my f6 screen? thank you .
newbie here. didnt even know there was there was a thing as a wireless transmitter ^.^
Nice Video Mate 👏💯
Thanks 🔥
great review, thanks for sharing.
Excellent info and well put. Any suggestions where to get HDMI to mini HDMI short, perhaps coiled, for my Sony A7R111. Thank you.
If you’re in the US or Canada, B&H is the only place I shop for important film gear. Outside of that, Kondor Blue makes great coiled cables.
@@garrettsammons Thanks for getting back to me.
How is the volume level on this monitor for playback features
Can SD card slot for view photo also without camera connect.
Where did you get that short HDMI cable running from your camera to the monitor?
you do an excellent job with this video thank you.
Hey friend, did you forget to keep us updated with the hollyland 400s about if the sdi out had the same lag as the hdmi?
Haven’t forgotten! Just been absolutely slammed with commercial work. I will get there I promise.
@@garrettsammons Thanks man. I've got the EOS RP and a Canon 6Dmk2 and neither of them support the cable it came with. lol
@@garrettsammons Thanks for the link. Just what I needed.
Never ever trust the camera display, so true!!!
Garrett Sammons all good bro, no worries!
My F6 plus monitor doesn't show anything while I press the recording, how come?
Can you confirm of the Feelworld F6 Plus has a waveform feature. I'm wanting to use the waveforms to check exposure using a X-Rite video card that has row of white-gray-black strips. Hence, does the F6 Plus have a waveform that can do this? The Feelworld website says it does have waveforms, but there are several youtube review of this F6 Plus, and not one of them mention waveforms.
They do have it now in the F6 Plus! They just emailed me and informed me it’s part of the newest firmware update.
@@garrettsammons I read the Feelworld's website about the firmware update. What do they mean about "Type C"? Do later models of Type C USB ports? Or does it mean something else by "Type C"?
I only need this for photography stills...is it bright enough to match the back of the camera monitor? I'm using a Canon EOS R
I don’t see much of a need for monitors like this for photography. You’ll mostly be relying on autofocus and shooting in Raw. Those two features basically remove the need.
Goede duidelijke uitleg !!!
Hartelijk bedankt!
Velcro ends are Hook and Loop ends... hard would be Hook, and soft is Loop
I am not a videographer but could I use this for still photography?
Hey Garrett, do you remember if this has anamorphic de-squeeze previews?
Off the top, I don’t remember. But I do know most feelworlds do. I’d have to look it up.
Does it support full screen shooting at 1080?
First of all what an awesome video, im planning to buy this monitor but at the end when u said its not that bright, this makes me think again, what are the results under the sun and daylight.
Being only 500nit, it’s not great in sunlight. That’s the unfortunate trade off. It’s a solid monitor, but even with the hood it would be hard to see in direct sun.
Precisely my thoughts. Out of the cart it goes.
Hey Garrett!! Can you use a 9:16 aspect ratio? I JUST want to shoot in 9:16 for Instagram without having to rotate my camera
Hey! I just tried the F6 plus on my Canon M50 Mark II but I don't have access to the camera settings on the monitor (such as dual pixal autofocus, ISO, f/ etc ... all the Q menu basically)
Fonctions I usually can access with the touch screen on my camera.
Every time I hit record it goes Black and says Recording in Progress. As in I cant use it in RECORD mode...Explain please..
Will Feelworld F6 PLUS V2 6" work with Nikon Z7 and Z9 ?
Hi what is that mic that you connected to your Camera thx
Hey man, thanks for the review. Does the image flip automatically when you rotate the monitor from back view to front view?
Yes , if does not you go to the menu and select it ON
According to Feelworld's website, there is now a Version 2 of the F6 Plus that features a USB-C type input so that the monitor can be powered with a power bank.
I also have this problem with mine.
