What's the name of the sheets of polystyrene you use? I've looked in b&q before, but I'm unsure what the safe ones are😅 I struggle with understanding information sometimes, so when people say oh just look for non toxic or whatever, that confuses me😅
Hi, this is just called polystyrene insulation board. Wickes also sell it in large sheets.
How much grout would you recommend I get for a 6x2x2 background?
Hi, I would get a 5kg bag, you may end up with some left over but i don't think a 2.5kg would do it
This was super helpful. Thanks for the video!!
Glad you found it useful!
So you use tile adhesive? I asked around and was told that Adhesive releases voc when it's heated? Is the fact you have sealed it enough to make it safe? I love you backgrounds and I'm in a project just trying to workout best base layer for the background
Hi, I'm unaware of vocs being released and do have a couple of unsealed backgrounds that have never given me any trouble. That being said I do seal them now using a safe varnish
@@norwichreptileshed thank you, my plan along was to seal them with safe poly aswell. I will use the adhesive and seal away!
fantastic video mate. no one in the uk doing these sorts of backgrounds so thank you👌
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it
What polyurethane you using on this?
It's from Toolstation, to be honest it isn't a product I use for anything else as I've prefer a toy safe varnish from Rustins now.
@@norwichreptileshed no worries, I asked you about the rustins before. Thought you’d found a new wonder product! How about finding a 100% safe uk alternative to drylok?
Haha I haven't found a wonder product sadly! I prefer the look of the polyurethane but much rather using Rustins in the shed. To be honest I gave up looking for drylok alternatives a long time ago, I don't mind working with tile grout/adhesive it's just the foam carving that I have to psych myself up for 😂
