A buddy of mine had one of these, We were at a scrambles track and he was starting it up. These were high compression and my buddy was kicking it. It backfired and the lever came back up and about ripped his leg off. Left a huge gash in his leg. These were wicked.
Very good video,I never knew that a 2 stroke would run a pipe like that.I was always under the impression that they had to have the expansion for the back pressure.Amazing !
You just must hear my bultacos.. One of 74" and 78".. 325 cc and 350cc running with no pipe.... That's its loud!.. Greta thunberg approved!.. Keep going man!!. Cheers from Italy 🤘🍻
On my 247 Cota the trick to cold starting was to blow into the tank's vent pipe while tickling the Amal. Another thing was the Kickstart lever. Having it rotated too far forward on the shaft kept it out the way, but on a full stroke the Kickstart shafts stop would crash through the case into the flywheel compartment. Had to fix the case on my 348 when I found the previous owner had done this.
Never heard about bikes being sold with out tires, but two brothers in my neighborhood bought matching Cotton (English enduro) bikes. They came in a box & you had to put them together at home!
@@wheelhousegarage i haven't seen one since the early 70's! A bud of mine passed away last summer. His wishes were to auction off all the contents of his Vintage Trail Bike Museum, in Cheshire, MA. He had well over 100 bikes, most were of Spanish origin. One of my favorites was an unrestored DOT, (English). You may know that stood for Devoid Of Trouble. Sadly for me, it fetched one of the highest prices of all the bikes there. (As I remember around 10k) Some of the OSSA's, Yankee's & Bultacos were bought by Ken Kaplan. He runs a beautiful museum in Rockville, CT. I believe there is a tour of it on YT.
That’s our Great Pyrenees “Scout”. He’s a full-time livestock guardian for the goats that roam our property. Sweetest dog with our kids but keeps all the predators away. 😁
I thought so too, but if you look it up you'll find that they actually came with that pipe! Makes you think what a good expansion chamber would do for the power output.
It was common on early Spanish two stroke performance bikes. The baffle cone on the expansion chambers creates a destructive pulse, that destroys power at low RPM. The megaphone pipe gave less peak power, but a very usable powerband, and a lot of noise also hahaha.
Love watching these films on a Sunday. Another great review on a great little bike, Keep them coming... Thanks for posting.
Thank you for your continued support!
Viva Montessa ! My dad always told me the first 2 strokes were really loud. Now I can see why.
Viva Montesa!!
I live in Spain i have had so many of these montesas and ossas and there are still lotts of them about great bikes
Thanks for watching!
Lot's of El Diablo (13M) and Texas (12M) Montesa's still around?

These bikes definitely kicked back at me a couple times too! Wicked machines!
A good example of getting the maximum from the minimum
and what a beauty!
Agreed! Thanks for watching!
Fantastic bikes and good beer content, really love the Dick Mann films. Thank you from West Sussex UK
My pleasure! Thanks so much for watching!
My old Greeves was pretty darned loud, too.
Oh yah I’ve heard Greeves be super loud too 👍

Ahah funny and always good vid, great bike continue
Thank you so much!
great vid as always. I would love to see a bultaco sherpa trials bike in the videos
Thanks Jeff! Only a matter of time before a Sherpa T ends up on the show 😁
If you ever have a chance to hear how loud Moto Attic Matt's Tiger Cub is, it might give this Monstesa a battle for most obnoxious bike haha.
Haha! Cubs are quite throaty!
I'll bet it left a lasting impression with your neighbors too!
Haha! I’m sure everyone in the canyon was wondering what the hell it was 😆
@@wheelhousegarage The Loudest Chainsaw they've ever heard, but have never seen! LOL
@@allenwenzel7272 Haha!
I love that dog. Is that a Kuvasz? A Pyrenees maybe? He looked too big to be a golden retriever.

Appears to be missing half of the expansion chamber

Gorgeous
Trust me Tss250 is a lot louder
No it's not!
Ah the wonders of a blooey tube. Did it have bean oil in the mix for the full effect?
Oh yeah baby!
Missing expanchamber will not hold a fuel charge in the cylinder that was a street bike with low pipe the front forks were on street bike only
Hmmm
