I have had the Numa X Piano GT since January and it’s a joy to play. The acoustic pianos took some getting used to, but they’re very lively with a lot of the nuances you find in real acoustic piano sounds. The action, however, is simply sublime, and I use mine with Native Instruments Noire for an absolutely superb playing experience.

I was very serious about buying the Numa X GT, but was worried it would be another short sample like all the other Dpianos out there today. So, instead:
I just bought a Roland RD-2000 with the V-Piano technology. I will have to work with this V-Piano for a few weeks to build the perfect acoustic piano sound, the best simulation of a Steinway Concert D piano. But first impressions are there is a huge amount of control of the V-Piano besides the tuning and voicing of every and each individual key, there are effects and the piano room for lid height and resonances effects. I also have the option of layering a sampled piano with the V-Piano modeled piano with losing any polyphony because they are separate engines. With out this huge control the best Dpiano in the world may sound bad with your headphones or speakers or gig amp. This amount of control is VERY necessary for any pianist who regularly performs on the best acoustic pianos in the world. One important feature of the V-Piano is the gorgeous decaying sounds as I release keys with the sustain, and the same great sound when holding keys down. Slow romantic play is wonderful, and relaxing now because the notes are not decaying away too fast and what is decaying is fantastically beautiful tone.
The key action as it connects to the sound engine is a perfect simulation of a great acoustic grand, complete and total physical control of the V-Piano. Modeled piano technology is relatively new today with about 12 years of Roland tech and some software pianos who came after Roland attempting the same modeled piano. (I have played piano for 55 years, have played the worse and the best acoustic pianos on stage in the world, need a Dpiano at home for practice with headphones for the love of my apartment neighbors :) Been waiting 40 years for a great Dpiano.

      1 Numa GT
      2Roland rd 2000
      3 Yamaha cp88
When I played the nord stage 3 felt like the Komplete s88 mk2.
Is not bad but doesn't feel premium at all.

I'm looking at picking up a keyboard for my church so our keys player doesn't have to wrestle her monstrous ancient Korg workstation back and forth every other Sunday. My short list had a used FA-08, a Fantom-08, and maybe-MAYbe a Kronos or Triton. After listening to this, Studiologic's definitely in the running. It's not as capable/powerful as say the FA or the Fantom, but it looks to be VERY easy to setup and use, and it sounds gorgeous.
One concern I've run across with the Fantom and the FA is rapid consumption of the voice count and note-stealing and cutoff problems, especially when layering sounds. Did you run into anything like that with this unit?

@@WoodyPianoShack probably you have the v.2.0.0 instaled on your unit cause the leatest updates 2.1 and 2.1.1. were released less than 2 months ago. There are some improvements in the EP's and some new insert FX addaded in the version 2.1 and the 2.1.1 were just small fixes introduced in the previous version. It's worth updating which is easy done trough the Numa Manager. Also you have some extra piano, string, clarinet & pluck samples in the Sound section that you can download and transfere to the instrument (those are not instaled in the instrument by default) all those sounds are realy a nice additoin to the instrument. Hello friend, can I ask you a favor? Could you confirm if the numa works as a midi controller connecting it via usb to the pc? to use vsts. I would like to know two important things, if it works as a midi controller, I would like to know if it obeys to change the speed and sensitivity curves of the keyboard, using it as a midi controller, connecting it only by usb. but without connecting the studio monitors to the numa. without using its outputs. I just want to use it as a usb midi controller. what worries me is that when changing the sensitivity and curves of the keyboard, there is no effect. Please, I wrote to studiologic and they didn't answer me, and I don't want to buy it without knowing if this would work, could you help me? Thank you very much anyway and a big hug from Spain.

Yes, you can use it just as a MIDI Controller also with all four ZONES and the Velocity settings will work also via MIDI OUT or USB.

i really advise downloading and reading the manual for these kind of nitty-gritty questions, it's quicker than asking me, who then has to go and read the manual and then write an answer.

Isn't the price too much for a new product? Here in the Philippines it is priced competitively against a Nautilus or a Grandstage.. (Both Korg)
    Love the demo!
    Mabuhay from the Philippines!

it should be quite a bit cheaper than the Nautilus (weighted keyboard version), hopefully even in the Ph!

Me too. This manufacturer may be eclipsed by some of the other 'household' Keyboard brand names,
      but this thing delivers!

If they add 4 more layers and Sampling capabilities I would sell my house with all my keyboards to buy one of this Numa X

Well, I mean Multisampling or some kind of Sound builder app where I can add the wave samples and spread them through the keys and the velocities

I am sorry, but you have just proved that it is totally unnecessary to splash the cash on a Nord when the Numa X sounds this great. Nord are going to be after you. Move to Madagascar and change your name to John Smith. You have just shown that Nord prices are over inflated.

pricey indeed, this has many features lacking on my electro. filter, 4 parts, pitch and mod sticks to name a few. but I still dig my NE organ engine...

I disagree. To me most of the sounds sound muffled and lacking dynamic expression. I rather would have one great sampled piano than dozens of really low quality sounds. So the big question, can you load your own samples?
