A year after I graduated h.s. I was in such complete awe of their music back then. Un-fucking-believable. I distinctly remember specific jams of songs friends would play for me and how I couldn’t believe that 4 dudes could produce such a sound. I’m still in awe to this day of what they’re doing, but that late 90s Phish is utter bliss. They really stretched their creative ideas and took them to places I feel they haven’t gone since. Still, there were some incredible jams on their last tour that I’ve heard. But the 90s….what a band!
Surprised isn't the precise word. Disappointed is the precise word I would use to describe how I feel when I look at the comment section of this video. There has not been an utterance at the reception of a gargantuan blow to the mind that is this performance for two years? Does anyone but me get nourishment from this video? I understand that there are a finite number of phans & that many of the ones who have this performance as a regular part of their life have probably commented here already. But no new ears listening to this? No new eyes watching this? With the sheer overwhelming amount of music out there, cross- referenced, connected by chance via algorithm, word-of-mouth, more people with more time on their hands sitting watching videos during the pandemic, just simply the millions of glitches in people's online experience SOMEWHERE in cyberspace that would lead someone here, that's a lot of potential for hundreds if not thousands of young birds or blokes to just STUMBLE in here. If that has been going on for the past two years, NO COMMENT FROM ANY OF THEM? It's the same phenomenon with other phish performances that are considered "best-of", go-to, introduce your friends during the 420 dance. Folks, it just doesn't add up. Either that, or maybe we're just not as special as we thought we were 😶
New listener here, this is the first Phish jam I've picked up after reading a pretty good article earlier today about a new Phish fan's intro to the band. I'm pretty apprehensive about jam bands on the whole, I find most of them just use the title "jam" to noodle endlessly and often lose the point of a jam... Moe included, these last few years, sad to say. Big Dead fan though, and the first 7 minutes (as of this writing) are promising. We'll see how I feel when they really get into it, though.
Could have done a few measures shorter at some of the passages, but overall pretty good. I'll give 'em a go once I'm done with my Motorhead kick. In regards to why there's not a surplus of new ears on it, I'd say a lot of it comes down to rock not being the dominant genre in popular music anymore, and most music being written with an ear to keep it short and friendly. Hell, no matter how good Atom Heart Mother is by Floyd, you're hard pressed to find many people in Gen Y or Gen Z willing to commit 30 minutes to a song. 21 minutes on a random track on TH-cam is going to turn most off on time alone, I reckon Phish only shows up to people already initiated into long jam tracks... And amongst those, most probably already know the name Phish.
@@sethbaker5261 right on. And I thought I was a new Phan. I got an ipod touch for me b-day that year and I put a large collection of live show recordings I had put off listening to. But each song would get me, like kernels of popcorn, just randomly every week, month, year whatever. You have an amazing road ahead, young man.
