This was my first Phish show. Pretty much all I was familiar with really were the songs on the studio albums. I had a couple live recordings (remember b&p's?) but songs like Dirt, Vultures, Ginseng Sullivan, and a couple others were welcome surprises. And then the second set began. I'd never heard PYITE but it immediately became a huge favorite. Nothing could have prepared me for that Ghost though. I kept my hands on top of head the entire time just to make sure the top of my head didn't explode. It's one thing to listen to a tape or CD of PHISH at the top of their game; it's quite another to actually be there.
Amazing audio, everybody is locked in start to finish. Competes only with 11-17-97! I long for the minimalist funk fusion starts again one day that blend into unhinged, seamless jamming and psychedelia.
Was my first Phish show, and was blown away🤩I didn’t realize at the time how magnificently funky, this Ghost was! I was literally speechless the whole show!!!As a 19yr old kid I was like dammnnn I need to do this wayyy more often! And so I DID😎
the audio quality on this is absolutely amazing. this was from one of the best runs of their career. i never thought i'd hear this so clearly. 7/1-12/31/97 might be the actual pinnacle of phish. some of the themes from this jam were built out of the deer creek 7/22 DWD->Mike's that if you haven't heard you should go check out after this one.
zevilone The best part is that this can be argued with many prime examples, which just proves how many times they’ve torn this jam (and their audience’s minds) to shreds.
Usually I'm listening to Trey just shredding during this point, but today I focused on how F'ing ludicrous Fish is just crushing this too. Mind boggling jam.
I love the fact that you guys consider this the best ghost. While I personally don't agree, my pick being the 11/17/97 version and 2nd best being 11/28/97 this is my 3rd favorite. I was at all 3 of these shows and Ghost is my 2nd fav Phish song behind Slave to the Traffic Light. I am so fortunate to have seen 29 shows in 1997. To be 18 again...
The Prague Ghost is up there as well. Why can't they seem to play Ghost for longer than 10 minutes now a days?? They jammed Mike's Song after being notified. They jammed Tube after being notified. Time to get the message to them 👻.
My era. Holy fuck could they jam. We were all staring at each other with mouths open every time someone got a bootleg CD. Helluva time to be alive.
Just discovered this gem. I said goddamn!

the turn this makes at 17:10 is what makes this the greatest band on earth
Foxtrot Media, Inc. what’s another favorite ghost in YOUR opinion.
Oh shit. 3 years ago lol. You’ll never respond.
7-6-98, 11-17-97, 9-12-99, 5-22-00
8-7-98 was pretty darn good too. Not on the Denver or Atlanta level, but very good
still the best gh0st ever played

26 years and triple digit shows later and outside of Big Cypress this is still to this day my favorite show and jam.
Funkiest jam ever
Incredible Ghost and the sound is fantastic! Thanks.
One of my favorite things that the pfish have done.
17:35 18:25 Even after 20 I years I get goosebumps almost every time I listen to these releases
Usually I'm listening to Trey just shredding during this point, but today I focused on how F'ing ludicrous Fish is just crushing this too. Mind boggling jam.

This is soundboard audio for Ghost. I don't think any other tracks from this show are available from the soundboard source.
I love seeing a Phish post with no negative voting!
Enjoyed this show! Something about Alpharetta though! Special place
