  • We made a 20 foot speargun and shot it through a brick wall to really get the feel for Physics. Learning cool stuff should make an impact, and it if does, it should be unforgettable.
Abby and I have been putting a little project together to cover the big ideas of Physics 11; work, energy and projectile motion. Homeschooling (Love it, but hate the name) gives us the license to create unforgettable education. Hopefully we can get around to a few more courses next year. Let us know if you have any good ideas?!
The awesome music is "Lying Awake" by Last Horse Standing, check out the video at • Last Horse Standing - ...
You can support the girls with their "first rifle" fund by picking something up at the Gridlessness store: www.gridlessness.com/
Also, did you know we IG? gridlessnes...
Think 20 foot spearguns are for sissies? Think your brick wall could stop us homeschoolers? Think you could come up with a better name than "homeschool"? Perfect, go ahead and like, subscribe, and tell us all about it.

That is brilliant. We live in a time where we mistake knowledge for capability. What you have done is created experiential learning that also creates capability, confidence and self reliance. In over 40 years of working with kids, I watched as we went to more book learning and less experience, and was not surprised that we are seeing anxiety issues rising and capability dropping dramatically. Thanks for sharing this.

Now you need to test some nose cone designs, round vs conical, fletching on arrows add flight stability. Shorter bolts, vanes. Look up rise and run calculations for trajectories. You could seriously damage a bear, moose or elk with that project. Stay safe and cherish your family. Your daughter has beautiful handwriting. Wishing you and your family Peace, health and happiness as the pandemic morphs into another phase. Peace brother

we used to shoot bows up in the air to see how far they would launch an arrow. Then we started to tie bombs on them, we were crazy. Did you know an M80 will send a five gallon pail as high as an electric pole? The force you speak of Luke is called drag. The poles friction through the air at an angle would cause drag. The pole spear bends when you put force on it, like an arrow in a bow. That is why is doesn't go straight. This speargun is amazingly powerful, I would not have thought it would pierce that steel barrel. Good job Obi-Wan Kenobi.

I think shortening the 'arrow' would stiffen it and cause it to rob less energy from the elastic. Fwiw.

Learning through life experiences is at the heart of unschooling. Now, traditional unschooling is child based (what the child is interested in is what is focused on.)
There's a world of differences between the styles of a home school and most are vastly different from the every so dry cram til you "know" but forget it after the test textbook public school education. I think your "problem" with "home school" is the thought of school as most people know it. Look into deschooling. It's eye opening. 😆

I never thought of the word homeschooling in that way, until you said it. Now I'm going to be thinking about it in that way 😂😂
On another note, I was homeschooled too, but never came close to this type of education. But then again, I lived in the city...in an apartment... Hey, my mom was great and taught me even when English was her second language. Once I got to high school, I was basically teaching myself, with very little help from online vids and, of course, I got help from my dad for math. I always thought homeschooling was way better than going to a public school, especially now that I'm older and just graduated from college (where it was almost like teaching myself)...AND, contrary to popular belief, it did not deprive me of social skills, (just ask anyone I've ever met).
Love you guys! I think I watched all your videos already and, let me tell you, I'm proud of the parents and the girls! Ya'll are awesome! 👍

The wobbly line is most likely from the flex in the pipe used for a bolt much like when you shoot an arrow there’s a large bow in the arrow when fired and continues to flex to and fro making the flight path a large arch
