I use the same tool and have tried the bullets but they tumble. Hollow base wadcutters work better but not 100%. Brenekee attaches a wad to the base of the slug and I need to try that. I like the filler instead of more wads. I have lots of walnut shell. That might work with a 148 grain .357 hollow base wadcutter in the long shot tube. Invert the shell to seat the wadcutter. Favorite defense load is 4 000 buck in a 2.5" shell using the long shot tube. These will work in my pump which has an 18.5" cylinder bore barrel. You mentioned you have 45 Colt. I make 1/3 oz shot shells for my single shot using the 45 Colt brass. Over powder card, 1/4" soft wad (cork), fill case, over shot card and crimp in my 45 Colt die. Seal with glue if you want it waterproof.
Hello and an absolutely outstanding commentary....great information that I am sure other viewer will appreciate....I will also give your suggestions a try....thank you and my best regards.....Barry
I now use two kinds. In the video it is a 174 grain lead 40 cal. But I now use the Berry’s 165 grain lead with the copper plate coating. I like the 165 best. But it is a bit more expensive. Make sure you do the muzzle check. Hope this helps. Best regards Barry
Good morning. A slug will do the same. They wont tumble. The fit is very close to the bore size. Shotguns do not have rifling to grab and engrave land and grooves into the projectile. Slugs slide through the muzzle. Best regards…..Barry

Did you just use the data for 1/2 ounce shot loads?
Yes. I use 1/2 oz in the 410.
Sometimes it may be a bit lighter.
Depending on how much volume the wad leaves.
