I have the 410 survival loader and all I can say is that it is a simple kit that works beautifully. I can say it is of high quality and will last a lifetime if not abused. I can see people in Alaska and around the world using these to put together ammo .
Hello Curtis & thank you for the great feedback. We do sell a lot to Sportsmen in other countries,. We do our best to give you a great tool for the money.... I agree with you...it is a tool that you will have for years to come, & pass on to your grandkids ......Thank you again for commenting. It is appreciated. Best regards,,,,,Barry
This COVID stuff put a hold on us shipping International. So We found an alternate method. We have an associate dealer on Ebay. The price is the same, Ebay still ships International. Right now he is out of stock and awaiting his new delivery. But he will get them. I hope this information helps Best regards Barry
PS: We have a dealer in Quebec. They have an order going through Canadian Customs. They should have stock in a week or so. Sportèque 760 Boul St-Joseph Drummondville, Quebec J2C2C3 Canada
Awesome kit Barry, the beauty of shotshell reloading is the ability to reload just about any projectile you can think of, without any overly complicated tools. The Shotgun has to be the most versatile firearm on the planet, if the projectile fits within the wad, it's going down range!.
Good morning & thank you for commenting. I agree with you. The versatile Shotgun. It was the primary firearm of our forefathers trekking west. Those who could afford more had rifles and pistols, but if they could only have one; most picked the Shotgun. It put food on the table and was able to provide for self defense. Thank you and please feel free to write, Best regards. Barry
Awesome video and very interesting product. I ordered a 12ga plus kit right after watching this video I can’t wait till it gets here so I can give it a go!
good morning. I think you will find the kit not only practical, but just plain fun to use. Their is satisfaction making your own custom shells. I hope you will be satisfied and if you have questions; contact thexringusa.com for help. They are a wealth of information and more than willing to help a fellow Sportsman. best regards,,,,Barry
Hello Austin: In answer to your question. NO. Please. NO. Do Not use any mallet or hammer on a Live or Loaded shell. Once you have powder in the case. DO NOT use anything to strike or hit a live round. The crimping process is by Hand Only. Hitting live or loaded shells is a disaster waiting to happen. And happen it will. Keep your eyes, Keep your fingers. Stay alive. Please don't give the "anti-gunners" more reason's to use against us. They already make the claim that reloading is unsafe and should be banned. Reload smart, reload safe and enjoy the benefits. Hope this information helps. Best regards. Barry
My son purchased a 20 gauge set for me earlier this month. Delivered as advertised, complete and well packaged. Very nice quality and I would recommend to anyone.
Thank you Dave for commenting. Glad you like the Survival Loader. If you ever need help or have questions, write to us using the email address on your receipt. We are always glad to help our fellow shooters. best regards Barry
I have been called crazy for saving all my 12 ga. and .410 shotgun shells I've fired over the years. But I always knew one day they might become worth something. I'm not an avid reloader so this makes perfect sense. Just placed my order for both calibers. Thanks!
Yes, for the small or casual re-loader, the Survival Loaders are a perfect fit. I think you will enjoy re-loading. Very therapeutic, Better and more useful than watching a tank full of fish. It really is enjoyable. Making something with your own hands and being able to use it. best regard Barry
Actually got both the 410 & 12 ga, kits in the mail day before yesterday. And I would have posted earlier but I am in North Texas and been dealing with rolling blackouts, no water, spotty cell and Internet sercive, plus nearly running out of propane and firewood. Not to mention my old backup generator sprung a leak at the carbs float bowl. Talk about a Peppers Wet Dream! We survived,! Only 2 frozen burst pipes to fix, and a LOT of snow to shovel. Yea 8 inches isn't a lot of snow for some of you, but we are set up to deal with 115 degree summer heat for 6 weeks. Not snow & below 0 freezing.temperatures with that stuff we put in our sweet tea everywhere. (ICE) Thanks for the fast shipping, I'm a hands on DIY Gearhead Type Guy. My fishing pole us for survival, not sport. Gonna be fun getting those shells ready for the next disaster.
Thanks Jerry for the comments. Please feel free to write and comment anytime. Good or bad. We listen to our customer suggestions. Very much appreciated and my best regards. Barry
I bought this kit. It is nicely done and well thought out for the Survival and Prepper purposes. Just wanted to say I am happy with your product and will be buying the 20 ga. when you have it available.
Glad I found this video. Lee use to produce a kit similar to this but are kinda hard to find these days. When you do find them they're almost the price of this unit. The big selling point to me is that base.
Yes, you are correct. The "base". It is the heart of our Kit. We didn't invent manual re-loaders as they have been around in one form or another since the late 1800's. But, we believe that we dld build a better "mouse trap" so to speak. As for LEE. Their kits were great for the time, but if you look at them and ours side by side. Ours is very different in design and especially function. Other kits for shotgun didn't re-size. Our kit offers you a choice of both. Re-size or not to re-size. And I am sure eventually, someone will come along and out-best us. I would like to thank you for commenting. Other shooters benefit from these post. So, please feel free to write. My best regards Barry
Oct. 6, 2021 Last week the U.S. Postal Service raised shipping (AGAIN). They also slowed down package delivery as a cost cutting method. Basically; they are charging more to provide less service. We have absorbed this price increase, and have not raised our prices. We ship orders with in 3 business days, excluding weekends & holidays. The rest is up to USPS. Thank you & best regards Barry
Just a suggestion here: for pre-measured powder charges to take with your kit, look into those small, glass, perfume samplers. They have a soft plastic plug type cap and would most likely hold a perfect single charge of powder (pre-measured, of course).
HellyTony. We do have “powder-shot” vials on our webstore. 5mg plastic with screw on caps for security. We did look at other types but decided not to go with a glass product. We felt that rough handling might cause glass to break and therefore destroy the contents. Thank you for the suggestion. Please, please feel free to share your ideas. Our Survival Loader kits have evolved and improved thanks to people like you sharing ideas. We do listen and evaluate. Best regards Barry
Hello everyone, just an update on the 20 ga. Survival Loader. Our CNC facility is finishing up our latest 410 order. The 20 ga. parts are next in line. It takes them about 3-4 weeks to get parts after they get started. Hopefully the wait will be short. We will post when the 20 ga. is available for sale. Those on our notification list will be sent an email. Thank you to all that were asking. The times “a-comin” Best regards. Barry
I actually clicked because I saw the funnel you are using for this is the same as the ones I used for my form 1 can. (Thought you were doing somethin else 🤣) glad I came by though, I didn't know about these kits; and I need one now. 👍
Good morning Mr. Smith. You are correct. The 3-1/2” is too long for the size die and decap rod. We are looking at a 3-1/2” kit and have a prototype. That doesn’t help know. But it just may happen in the not too distant future. Best regards Barry

I used to pick up little kits made by Lee they made shotgun rifle and pistol kits , I used to pick them up for anywhere from $5.00 to $15.00 I saw one sell online for about $125.00
Hello Charles. Those were the good ole days. Gas was under a buck a gallon. Never to return. We live in a much different America than was in our youth. Thank you for writing. It is appreciated. Best regards Barry

Hellos Tom and thank you for commenting. LEE still makes great products. But no longer Shotgun kits. We believe that we built a “better mouse trap” so to speak. LOL Side-by-side. The Survival Loaders are significantly different in both design and function. With our kits you can re-size. Or not. Your choice. We only focus on Shotgun. No pistol or rifle calibers. LEE still makes kits for pistol & rifle. I have a couple and the do just fine. Please feel free to comment and share your ideas. Our fellow shooters enjoy picking up advice and tips. This is a reply I posted to someone who claimed the "ammo shortage" was nearly over. Thought it might be interesting to share:::::::::::::::::::::::: There never was a shortage. Shooters in Canada had plenty of US made stuff on the shelves and so did buyers Internationally. (go online and check out the Canadian stores) What we have ; is ammunition makers setting us up for the new Prices. When you see ammo that used to be $12 bucks or less now selling for $29 or more, you will think its' a bargain. This is nothing but "price resetting". I was at a major sporting good store just last week. They were at about 1/2 the capacity of ammo on the shelves. Actually they had a fairly good amount. . ,223/556 was $44.95 for a box of 20. This used to be under $5 bucks. When i asked the manager about the prices, he said they are paying 3 times the old "wholesale prices" to the manufacturers. SO This is about the ammo makers just resetting the price and making you glad to pay it. Willing to pay $29.95 for. box of ammo? When you cave, they will have plenty for you to buy.
Canada and other countries didn't have even a fraction of the demand that the US had due to the communist riots here and from the prisons being emptied because of Covid. Yes, I do agree that it has been an opportunity for the ammo companies to jack up prices, but the demand was so insane that it caused a shortage due to hoarding, etc. I think people focus too much on a conspiracy with the ammo situation while not paying attention to the fact that our govt has been completely taken over by Maoist/Marxist maniacs who are working with China to overthrow us. PS- Your survival loader looks awesome.
Hey Barry,I just sent you an Email about the 12g+ kit Availability but I just read a comment about it being restocked tomorrow morning. Will definitely grab me a couple kits while they are available. Thank you for what you do Barry!
Update from Barry at The X Ring USA llc The 410 Survival Loader kits are temporarily out of stock. Our CNC machining facility has closed due to the Virus emergency. (the 410 kits and newly coming 20 ga. are on hold pending getting parts) We are well stocked with 12 ga. kits. These are currently available. As a result of this Pandemic: Some people discovered that having the ability to reload ammunition, beats standing in-line at a Gun Shop; only to find they are sold out. Hopefully this Virus emergency will be short lived. Until that time; may you and yours be Blessed to get safely through this Pandemic. My best regards. Barry (co-owner)
Hello John: Honestly, I don't know why or where all this will go. I do think it will go on a lot longer that people anticipate. Time will tell. Best regards Barry
We received our parts. 12 ga. Survival Loaders will again be for sale starting Tuesday morning Oct. 27th. Thanks to all for your patience, Best regards Barry-sales
Hello Jake. I’m sorry to disappoint. We only have them in 410, 20, and 12 ga. They are on our website: thexringusa.com Thank you for inquiring. Best regards Barry.
@@davidbanning3071 good evening David. Yes, eventually we will. Just one of those things that is down the road. Just released the 20 ga a few months ago. So, yes. Eventually Best regards Barry-sales
May you all have a Happy 4th of July with your friends and family. May you prosper and live in peace through-out the rest of the year. Best regards Barry @ The X Ring USA
UPDATE::: The 12 gauge Survival Loader has the Hornady Crimp Starter as a standard component of the kit. We are now updating the 410 gauge to also include the Hornady Crimp Starter tool. This will make crimping even easier at no increase in price. Best regards to all.
We are re-stocked. We have the 410 ga-bore kits back in stock and for sale on our website. Thank you to those who asked to be on the email notification list. We have made those notifications. If we missed anyone, we apologize. Thank you all. Keep being safe. Let’s get America cured and up and running again. Best regards Barry-sales
Good morning Tim: we do ship to Canada. Due to the Corona Virus emergency here in Arizona, developed an alternate way for International customers to purchase. I have sent you an email with the information. Before Covid-19, we shipped International direct. But with having to stand in line with the Customs Forms and such, we had to limit our exposure. Hence the alternative way to purchase. Hope this information helps. Best regards Barry-sales
hello Greig: Factory loads are sealed,. The crimps are moved in place and in my opinion should be water tight at the crimp, If water is and issue, you could apply a wax plug or white glue on top of the "over-shot" wad before you set the crimp, This might help, but, it probably won't be like a factory sealed hull, Best regards Barry
You can always just use clear nail polish as a sealant. Some people make water tight shells and cartridges by putting a VERY light coat of nail polish around the case mouth/shell crimp and around the primer after seating it into the brass. Some like to also put it around the edge of the brass of a shotshell too, but that isn't really necessary unless you are storing your shells underwater or in a humid area for extended lengths of time. If you do put some there make it an extremely light single coat and then wipe most of it off. You only need it on the very edge of the brass. Don't shoot the sealed shells until the polish is FULLY dry unless you want nail polish in your magazine and chamber. I really need to emphasize the lightness of the coating. It can be a little thicker on the crimp, but not much. If you just gob it on there you could potentially increase pressure. It probably won't make a difference either way so long as you aren't making "A BEAR IS EATING MY DOG" loads, but better safe than sorry. A LIGHT coat of Elmer's white school glue can be used to seal the crimp instead of the polish, it is actually a little better suited to sealing the crimp than the polish is, but it's kinda messy and it can only be used on the crimp, not the primer or the edge of the brass. (Too thick and comes off too easily)
Lee apparently stopped making their 12ga hand loaders, so it's great that you've stepped in to fill the gap. I don't shoot 12ga much, but seeing that has me tempted to try making a reloading kit with my lathe, just for fun. Don't worry, I'm too lazy (and incompetent) to become a competitor :) For anyone on the fence, these "Lee Loader" type hand loaders are actually really easy to use, convenient (you can take 'em anywhere) and honestly kind of fun/relaxing to use after a day of shooting. A cheap Harbor Freight rubber mallet--or even a homemade wooden one--is all you need. Suggestion: maybe include an "upgrade" to the kit that consists of a decent quality plastic box, for storage? Cardboard tends to get beat up over time. Not sure if you're moving the kind of volume that would justify having a custom mold for the insert parts, but you can probably get a US company to make decent strength foam inserts for an off-the-shelf plastic box that would work well.
Hello Greg. No worries about a home made kit. I think you will discover the challenges we had to overcome to get the prototypes working. Kinda gives an appreciation of what LEE had to do. As for boxes. The one with the kit is intended to be a mailer. That said. Barring getting soaked; They are pretty sturdy. One of the previous commenters here on our channel posted that he used a surplus LEE plastic box. Said minor modification made it work. As for the Harbor Freight rubber mallet. You are right on the money. We also have a video titled “ make wads the easy way” You might take a look at that. We talk about the $3 mallet from Harbor Freight. Thank you for sharing. Please feel free to share more. I and many of our readers learn great tips. Best regards Barry
@@barrydeclined2547 Well, that's the intent--good learning experience as I puzzle through getting it right! (I'm very, very far from a competent machinist.) Definitely going to check out your other vids!
Glad i found this video. Ive got one of them savage 30-30 12ga combo guns. Already have an old Lee load kit for the 30-30 and having then 12ga load kit would complete the outfit. The simplicity of your kit is well thought out.
good morning Aaron: I must say I am envious. I love those Savage combo guns. And a 30-30 with a 12ga. is a perfect one to have. Heck I would even settle for a 30-30 over a 20 ga. but those combo guns as scarce as hens teeth. Thanks for the post/comment. Our fellow shooters read these comments and learn. Thanks again and feel free to write and share. Best regards Barry
Very nice personal reloading tool. I wouldn't classify it as a survival loader though. Where are the primers, wads and shot coming from when SHTF? You'll still need to stock up on the supplies so nothing changes. Other than perhaps the cost savings in the now. In the later, it's the same exact problem. If you just want to reload your own to save a bit of money this is fantastic.
Primers can be made from matches, wads can be made from cardboard, wool, wax etc. Shot can be Crosman BB's, or if you had to, you could load almost any projectile or scrap lead slugs as long as they are weighed first.
Now that 00 buckshot is difficult to get, have you ever tried replacing birdshot shells with 1/8 ounce split shot from the fishing section? You keep the same primer and powder, just replace the lead and recrimp.
Good morning Josh. I have not even thought of that. You present a very novel idea to reload with lead split shot if you can’t get buck. If you do this, I’m sure other readers would like to hear from you. Best regards Barry
@@barrydeclined2547 it sounds like a good way to save some money. I also found you can buy 1000 5/16 inch slingshot steel ball bearings for around $20. Each one of those is .31 caliber, and they sell larger. FYI.
good info. Josh. i'm sure our fellow shooters reading this will be glad to have this information. It's alway good to have options. You just gave everyone one of them. Thank you again, Barry
Thank you. If ordered today. It will ship Tuesday afternoon. Tracking will be sent after it ships. I think you will really have fun with it. Best regards Barry
I used an OOP MRC/Lee Loader kit for 12 and 20 gauge shells 30 years ago, this kit is very similar but with some improvements. Lee's instructions don't mention using lube (which would have been great to know at the time). I found that "low-brass" shells don't resize as well as "high-brass" shells. I ripped the rims off on a few low brass shells, if they would chamber at all. This kit might be better for modern shells. The MRC/Lee Loader kits were designed decades ago when shells were made with different materials, probably actual brass, not brass or zinc plated steel or even aluminum or polymer with a steel disk for the rim like modern shells.
Hello Will. You are correct. The shells today are mostly plated steel bases. The using a lube recommendation is due to the Size Die. It’s double ended. One side can be used to reload by the non-size method. Or The other end is to resize the metal base. Just as with pistol or rifle cases. Using a lube when resizing helps get a better result. Thank you for sharing. It is informative and appreciated. Best regards Barry
Good morning Daniel: Yes, I know just how big the bench mounted machines are. I have 2. The Survival Loaders are designed for a different purpose and function. They provide the ability to re-load in emergencies when there is no electricity. They are great for the "casual" re-loader who doesn't need large production and doesn't want to pay for the expensive machines, Plus. It is designed to be highly portable and can be used anywhere. You can even drop it in a coat pocket and take with you on camping trips. Thank you for sharing your comment. It is appreciated and please feel free to write and comment anytime. Other shooters/reloaders read these comments and hopefully gain information that helps them. Thank you again and Best regards Barry
Hello Curtis. Glad you enjoy the reloader. Like you, I use mine all the time. For me, it’s relaxing. As for the 20 ga. It’s coming soon. Prototype is done. Now we get in-line with the CNC facility to get parts made. We will announce here on our channel when they are ready for sale. Thank you for commenting. It is appreciated. Best regards. Barry
Why not increase the diameter on one end of the knock out rod to roughly match the inside diameter of the hull. This would remove the need to line up the tip for primer removal by “feel”. This in turn would remove a factor of possible error by the user.
Good morning Jason. Good question. We did Last year we did increase the diameter and they now self center. But it made a new problem. The new larger rod could no longer act as a ramrod to seat the wad. It was too snug. So we just added a Ramrod to the 410 & 20 ga. Kits. The 12 ga. Was ok as is. Our new and up-coming update video will address that improvement. Thanks for commenting Best regards Barry
@@barrydeclined2547 thanks for the quick response. Failure on my part to articulate correctly. I was suggesting only increasing the diameter on one end, not the entire rod thus leaving the opposite end available for wad/piston placement
No worries Jason. It was on me. I failed to understand correctly. That option was considered.and tried. It made other issues. Additional cost of machining and rod length problems. The larger diameter would need to be machined down so it would still slide inside the wad to seat it. On a 3” shell, the smaller diameter portion would need to be that long. The larger diameter would need to be at least 2”” longer to give the rod the ability to center over the primer. Too short and it would not have enough bearing surface to keep it straight. The pin would be off. It would increase the rod length which in turn leads to a longer less compact box. The best solution and simplest was to make the entire rod the larger. diameter and include a new part. Hence: The Ramrod. I hope I got it right this time LOL Barry

Yes. The 20 ga. will be available soon. We have the Size Dies and Bases. The other parts are still coming from an out of state CNC facility. This virus emergency really hurt in getting parts made. But. Yes it is coming. Probably another 3 weeks and it will be on our website. Barry

Hey Barry, thank you for great video and question: If i cut open factory loaded 12 gauge shell and replace lead pellets with steel..., What do you think? Should I change the powder too?
Great questions. As for the LEE. They are decent bench mounted press. Not portable, but a good value. As for cutting open a shell and changing things. I suggest you check a reloading manual since you are changing components. Pressures a big thing. When you change components, safety could be an issue. Best of luck. Please comment if I or our other readers can help. Barry
I've also been watching another channel called "TAUFLEDERMAUS" (German for bat, go figure) who, among other things, load and shoot slugs made by machinists and metal casters. A lot of these things are custom made, so there is no factory load info on them. They have to do all the calculations themselves, and sometimes they don't get it right on the money. I'm saying this because when you have lead pellets, they have a certain inertial mass, which the powder load was calculated on. If you change the shot load, you change the muzzle velocity, range, etc. Sometimes that's not a problem. But especially if the load is going to be heavier (e.g. going from #6 shot to a slug), it could be a serious problem. But either way, it will affect range and accuracy. Ideally, yes you would need to re-calculate the powder load to match the slightly lighter weight of the steel pellets, especially larger pellets like buck. If it's birdshot, or something that fine, you might be okay with the slight variation. Always check the factory specs for the specific shot, or talk to your local gun store if you're not 110% sure. Safety is always first, no matter what. And lastly to @barrydeclined; an excellent product, and well presented. I'm a new gun owner myself, and haven't done any reloading yet. With the way you talked about this, plain and simple, you really instill confidence in people like me, who are still wondering if reloading was an option for them. Than you so much, Sir. You are a credit to your profession.
Hello Damon: You might want to read my post from a few weeks back on my opinion that this primer/powder shortage is a scam. The Canadians have them. Our brands. In stock. Even the NRA did a short article on it. Best regards Barry
Yes. It will. You would need to request the longer “set tool” to reach the Crimp. In my experience, the mini-shell have much thicker hulls. That means it is harder to re-form the crimp. Other than that. Yes. The 12 ga. Kit would reload them. 😃👍
Hello Celso: All metal cases can not be resized or crimped. Plus. The decap rod pin is to remove the larger shotgun size 209 primer. The brass/all metal cases have the small primer hole similar to the pistol or rifle size. I hope this information helps. Best regards Barry
good morning Andrei. if you are in a SHTF situation, I would guess that anything you can get would by necessity have to do. If they are over-shot wads, then you have more choices. If they are an over the powder wad, then you need to consider this. Wads, should be non-flammable. The last thing you would want when SHTF is to also deal with a fire. Rubber as an over the powder wad I suspect would probably melt from the heat for the powder burning and friction going down the barrel. Cotton is flammable and would also make a poor wadding material. It would be best to use any reasonable "non-flammable" material for both. I make my own over-shot wads, but, use a commercial over-powder cup style wad. Im sorry if I cant be more specific. But, when you are in a SHTF situation. You would have to do anything to survive it. Experiment, see what works for you. What is readily available to you. Thanks for writing. It is appreciated. I know other readers value your question. Best regards Barry
Good morning Ben: Thank you for commenting. We are just getting ready to release the new 20 ga. It should be on our web-store in about 2 weeks or less. We have received all the parts from the CNC facility. Now we are working on the packaging and Instructions. Eventually we will have a 10 ga. along with a 16 and a 28. Being a small company, It takes time. Tool-room prototypes to be made, testing to make sure everything works. Get quotes and then get put on the waiting list for machine time, etc. And somewhere in there, run a busy online business. We are trying. The new 20 ga. kit will have all previous parts and advantages but with a couple of upgrades. This upgrade is a result of people like you commenting and offering suggestions. We do read and consider all suggestions. So. Please feel free to comment anytime. It really is appreciated. Thank you and best regards Barry

Hello Pete: If I recall, I used 15.5 grains of Hodgdon H110 powder. My shot load was 1/2 ounce perhaps a smidge less in weight. I use 1/2 oz for all my 410 loadings whether shot or buckshot. BUT Please use a loading manual or go to Hodgdon web site to get the latest re-loading data. This load works great in my single shot 410. But about of an abundance of safety, please check and verify the latest data from the powder manufacturer. You can use other powders, but, alway get the latest updated data. AND use a scale. I hope this helps. Best regards Barry

Hello and good questions. The kit is designed for Star Crimping. But if you add a Roll Tool, then yes, it will also do roll crimps. The Roll Crimp Tools are not expensive. You can find them on ebay or Ballistic Products also has them. As for Star Crimps vs Roll Crimps. If you are loading Slug Loads, then a roll crimp would work best. If you are loading Shot Loads, even buck-shot. Then, I prefer the Star Crimp. You can Star Crimp anywhere. To use a Roll Tool it is recommended to use an electric drill or drill press. In a survival or emergency situation, electricity may not be available. The Survival Loader kits are designed to make reloading possible when you have limited space, are in the field and have no modern resources such as electricity. I hope this information helps. This of course is just my opinion and point of view. Others may feel differently or have more suggestions. Best regards. Barry
@@barrydeclined2547 thanks. I did see 2 manual roll crimpers. 1 from Russian, 1 usa that mounts to a 2x4, just wondered about yours. Thanks, looks like a cool thing to have.
I added the 20 ga Roll Tool to my reloading set up for home use. Got it from Ballistic Products. I rarely use it since I reload Slugs just every now and then. Other than that. It’s there if I need it. 👍🖖
Hello Michael. We frequently ship to Canada. Send an email to us at: thexringusa@yahoo.com we will send you shipping information and all the other information you will need for an International order. Barry
Will I be able to crimp the mini 2 1/4 or 1 3/4 inch shot shells? I don't see why I wouldn't be able to do everything else, but is the crimp finisher long enough for the minis?
great questions. The standard "crimp set tool" will not reach the mini-shells to set the final crimp. That said: We offer an extended Crimp Set Tool as an accessory. Feed back from other reloaders has been sketchy on reloading the mini-shells. Apparently they are extra thick and are tough to get the crimp to close and set. The factory shells are heat and molded in place. SO..... I decided to find out for myself. They were a real pain. I finally decided they weren't worth the trouble. Anyway, the extended Tool is available as an accessory. They are $5.00 plus shipping. Hope this information helps. best regards Barry
Hello. The Survival Loader Kit is set up with tools to reload the more common “Star Crimped” shells. But; if you add a separate “Roll Crimp” Tool, you can make the final crimp a rolled crimp. Roll Crimp tools are modestly priced online. I bought mine at ballistic products. I use the Roll Crimp for my “slug” reloads only. All others (shot, buck, etc) ...I use the more common Star Crimp. You can also make Slug Loads with a Star Crimp shell. Or with the “cut shell” method. They all work fine. Hope this information helps. best regards........barry
I love this product. I'm a bit torn as I've never done any reloading. I'm on a budget and this looks like something I should buy. I'll have to wait till next month as I've purchased the Lee loader to get myself going. I will purchase this next month though because the quality of this thing is just oozing out of its little pores and I expect it to outlast that pos Lee loader.
Great product Barry! I am in the early stages of jumping into reloading (close to retirement and joining a sporting clays club), however finding powder and shot these days is nearly impossible. So bad that I’ve held off on purchasing my first single-stage reloader. So frustrating. I’ve adjusted fire (no pun intended) and have been simply stocking up standard Federal trap/skeet loads from Wally. Hell,a case of 100 is only $20. I also want to load 00 and slugs....same dismal amount of products out there. Anyway, how difficult would it be to take an unfired 2 3/4 standard trap/skeet load (7.5 shot, probably 1 1/8 oz), or dove/quail load and “reload” it with 00, or a slug with your cool product? Not really into trying the wax slug deal, but whatever works in these trying time. Thoughts? Much appreciated.
Hello and thanks for asking your question and commenting. The Survival Loader is designed to re-load fired shotgun hulls. That said. The Survival Loader would be able to re-crimp the shell. There are dangers to what you would like to accomplish. First ;the factory crimp would be somewhat difficult to open as it is heat set and formed. But, it would be possible to get the crimp open without causing too much damage. Second; there may be a problem with compatibility of the powder charge for the new shot load. You might try to find out what type of factory powder was used & the charge weight. Then consult a loading manual to make sure the charge is compatible with the new load weight. Too heavy a powder charge & you could have over pressure issues. Too light a charge & you could have other problems that may damage your firearm. I hope this helps Barry
I have two lead molds intended for making slingshot ammo they were made by do it mold co. I got two different size molds and each mold makes two different size balls they were advertised as being able to use the balls for split shot by tapping a sharp knife into the balls and splitting them . I have yet to mike the balls and compare them to the different buckshot sizes . But when the shtf I’ll be ready for loading buckshot using my slingshot or fishing wts. Just thought you maybe interested. Also I have several of the old lees hand loading kits in rifle pistol and shotgun configurations. I used to sit on floor and load .44 magnum loads while watching t v I love those kits . It’s relaxing just don’t expect to speed load so I’m prepared
Hello Charles Thank you for sharing with us all. One of the previous commenters had a great tip for substitute lead loads. Fishing supplies. Lead “split shot” One way to get near buck-shot for loads. Don’t know about accuracy. But, lead loads in a pinch. Sounds like you have a pretty good handle on using the Loader. Besides being practical. It’s also fun. Let me know if I can help. I will as best that I can. Best regards Barry
I would like to know more about the roll crimp . Do I need to cut the old star crimp off ? How do I proceed with star crimped shells to start the roll crimp
This is a must have for any prepper or avid shooter! Your presentation was succinct and organized and perfectly illustrated the loader!
Great job!
Thank you for the kind review. I'm not sure what "succinct" means, but I'm guessing it's a good thing. LOL
I just got mine reloaded 100 rounds of 00 buck.... consider a 00 buck can be $1.00 a shot
ok , now i gotta make this
then buy it!
LEE had this 'design' since the 80's for Rifle cartridges....actually nothing new.
@@cobusalberts9111 Actually Lee came out with these in the late 50's, early 60's.
Shoot I'd have thrown those used primers in the shell with the payload, reduce reuse recycle right?
I have the 410 survival loader and all I can say is that it is a simple kit that works beautifully. I can say it is of high quality and will last a lifetime if not abused. I can see people in Alaska and around the world using these to put together ammo .

Thank you and please feel free to write,

Very therapeutic,
Better and more useful than watching a tank full of fish.
It really is enjoyable. Making something with your own hands and being able to use it.

(ICE)

I have been looking for something EXACTLY LIKE THIS! Thank you so much!!

Last week the U.S. Postal Service raised shipping (AGAIN).
They also slowed down package delivery as a cost cutting method.

they are charging more to provide less service.
We have absorbed this price increase, and have not raised our prices.
We ship orders with in 3 business days, excluding weekends & holidays.
The rest is up to USPS.

Hellos Tom and thank you for commenting.
LEE still makes great products.
But no longer Shotgun kits.

This is a reply I posted to someone who claimed the "ammo shortage" was nearly over. Thought it might be interesting to share::::::::::::::::::::::::
There never was a shortage. Shooters in Canada had plenty of US made stuff on the shelves and so did buyers Internationally. (go online and check out the Canadian stores)
What we have ; is ammunition makers setting us up for the new Prices.
SO
This is about the ammo makers just resetting the price and making you glad to pay it.
Thank you John. I and I am sure others appreciate you sharing your information.

We are well stocked with 12 ga. kits. These are currently available.

why dont you sell to ontario canada?
Good morning Tim: we do ship to Canada.
Due to the Corona Virus emergency here in Arizona, developed an alternate way for International customers to purchase.
I have sent you an email with the information.
Before Covid-19, we shipped International direct. But with having to stand in line with the Customs Forms and such, we had to limit our exposure. Hence the alternative way to purchase.

Nice! The factory load looks sealed. Can you add wax or something to keep water out?
hello Greig:
Factory loads are sealed,. The crimps are moved in place and in my opinion should be water tight at the crimp,
If water is and issue, you could apply a wax plug or white glue on top of the "over-shot" wad before you set the crimp,
This might help, but, it probably won't be like a factory sealed hull,
Best regards
Barry
Don't worry, I'm too lazy (and incompetent) to become a competitor :)
For anyone on the fence, these "Lee Loader" type hand loaders are actually really easy to use, convenient (you can take 'em anywhere) and honestly kind of fun/relaxing to use after a day of shooting.
We also have a video titled “ make wads the easy way”
You might take a look at that. We talk about the $3 mallet from Harbor Freight.

Nice video and product! Do you think you might come out with a 16 ga version someday?
I really wish you had a 10ga
Now that 00 buckshot is difficult to get, have you ever tried replacing birdshot shells with 1/8 ounce split shot from the fishing section? You keep the same primer and powder, just replace the lead and recrimp.
Good morning Josh.
I have not even thought of that.
You present a very novel idea to reload with lead split shot if you can’t get buck.
If you do this, I’m sure other readers would like to hear from you.

@@barrydeclined2547 it sounds like a good way to save some money. I also found you can buy 1000 5/16 inch slingshot steel ball bearings for around $20. Each one of those is .31 caliber, and they sell larger. FYI.

I had one of the Lee Loaders back in the 1970’s it was similar to this.
Hornady makes something similar...nice instructional vid...thank you.
Mr. Whistles.... nice vid
Or
The other end is to resize the metal base.
Just as with pistol or rifle cases. Using a lube when resizing helps get a better result.
Thank you for sharing. It is informative and appreciated.

Good morning Daniel:
Yes, I know just how big the bench mounted machines are. I have 2.
The Survival Loaders are designed for a different purpose and function.
They provide the ability to re-load in emergencies when there is no electricity.
They are great for the "casual" re-loader who doesn't need large production and doesn't want to pay for the expensive machines,
Plus.

When will the 12GA be back in stock?
We are getting another small delivery late Wednesday afternoon via UPS.
Excellent.. Thank you for developing an easy, manual method of reloading shot shells.
I will immediately move to your web site.
Hello Reg.
Thanks for commenting.
Heads up. Stock is getting low this week.

I love my survival loaders !! They are more fun loading by hand then with a machine !! I with they made a 20 gauge kit !!!

Why not increase the diameter on one end of the knock out rod to roughly match the inside diameter of the hull. This would remove the need to line up the tip for primer removal by “feel”. This in turn would remove a factor of possible error by the user.
Good morning Jason.
Good question. We did
Last year we did increase the diameter and they now self center.
But it made a new problem.
The new larger rod could no longer act as a ramrod to seat the wad. It was too snug.
So we just added a Ramrod to the 410 & 20 ga. Kits.
The 12 ga. Was ok as is.
Our new and up-coming update video will address that improvement.
Thanks for commenting

Barry
I hope I got it right this time LOL

I urge all gun owners to join Gun Owners of America, Firearms Policy Coalition or Second Amendment Foundation.
They will fight in court to save our 2nd Amendment Rights.
Why? What new policy has been announced? None? Oh...
@Andrew P. Schubert we just had a federal election stolen in front of an entire planet and not only was nothing done about it, they didn’t even try to hide what they were doing and gave us the middle finger when anyone asked about it. So what, among these pissant orgs you just listed off, none of which any elected officials have heard of or give a shiat about, do you think they are going to do about anything? Rules and laws don’t matter anymore.
@@jcraigsheltonThanks for your response.
I still have hope. The more people that get involved the stronger these gun rights groups get and they are fighting these stupid gun laws.
Was curious if you guys are going to do a 20 gauge
Yes. The 20 ga. will be available soon. We have the Size Dies and Bases.
The other parts are still coming from an out of state CNC facility.
This virus emergency really hurt in getting parts made.
But. Yes it is coming. Probably another 3 weeks and it will be on our website.

GREAT Tool and Video instruction!
It would be cool if they offered an optional leather leather carry case to put the whole box into. One with belt loops, one without.
I’m sure one could be found. But.
Then again. It would add to the cost.

Hey Barry, thank you for great video and question:
If i cut open factory loaded 12 gauge shell and replace lead pellets with steel..., What do you think?
Thank you for commenting and sharing your information.
We will all benefit from the knowledge you provided.
It is appreciated.

That's pretty neat, of course primers can't be had for love or money right now, but hopefully that will change soon.
Hello Damon:
You might want to read my post from a few weeks back on my opinion that this primer/powder shortage is a scam.
The Canadians have them. Our brands. In stock. Even the NRA did a short article on it.

Barry
I wonder if this kit would work with the mini shells🤔
Yes. It will. You would need to request the longer “set tool” to reach the Crimp.
In my experience, the mini-shell have much thicker hulls. That means it is harder to re-form the crimp.
Other than that.
Yes. The 12 ga. Kit would reload them.
😃👍
We need a 16 gauge kit!
Is this as good with the metallic cartdriges?
Hello Celso:
All metal cases can not be resized or crimped.
Plus.
The decap rod pin is to remove the larger shotgun size 209 primer.
The brass/all metal cases have the small primer hole similar to the pistol or rifle size.
I hope this information helps.

The question is : will rubber or cotton or wool wads substitute plastic wads in SHTF
good morning Andrei.
if you are in a SHTF situation, I would guess that anything you can get would by necessity have to do.

I’d love to see one offered in 10 gauge. I will be ordering 12 & 410. When the 20 comes out and/or 10 gauge I will too.
Good morning Ben:
Thank you for commenting.

Hey Barry, Would like to have your load specs, I will be loading exactly as you do Remington cases and all
Hello Pete:
If I recall, I used 15.5 grains of Hodgdon H110 powder.
My shot load was 1/2 ounce perhaps a smidge less in weight. I use 1/2 oz for all my 410 loadings whether shot or buckshot.
BUT
Please use a loading manual or go to Hodgdon web site to get the latest re-loading data.
This load works great in my single shot 410.
But about of an abundance of safety, please check and verify the latest data from the powder manufacturer.
You can use other powders, but, alway get the latest updated data.
AND use a scale.
I hope this helps.

Can this do a roll crimp? Pros and Cons of roll crimp vs star crimp and why use 1 or the other?

That said:
We offer an extended Crimp Set Tool as an accessory.

Barry
Can you load slugs with it?
Hello.
The Survival Loader Kit is set up with tools to reload the more common “Star Crimped” shells.
But;
if you add a separate “Roll Crimp” Tool, you can make the final crimp a rolled crimp.

Buy a LEE 12ga. loader. It's cheaper, faster and easier.
You will never wear the Lee Loader out . I have several caliburs. Been around for years. Perfection speeks for its self.
@@reedmitchell6716 mine came in the mail a couple days ago. I've been pounding out the rounds. Great product. I'm ordering one in 16g.

Think Survival reloading.
Go to 22lrreloader.com
Learn to actually reload your spent primers.
Then you can reload ammo.
That’s pretty cool. Thanks Barry.
I hope this helps
