    LOVE this! It’s Exactly what I am looking for. I find this the most beautiful thing when a teacher can incorporate inspiring quotes, stories but as a teacher, I find it the most challenging part about teaching. This video is very helpful. I like how you break things down and your explanation includes examples. Thank you!🙏💕

    I would love to see more tips on how to theme without personal stories. I’m not a story teller and when I do tell stories it takes me way too long, so I’m curious to know if you have any other tips for how to weave in the theme? I have lots of theme ideas, I find I struggle with weaving it into my cues and throughout the class.

    • @RachelScottYoga
      @RachelScottYoga  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      YES! This is a great idea. Absolutely I have ideas. There are tons of ways to theme "implicitly" and without storytelling. I'll do a video on this in the next bit and post. Great question!

    Great.....How would you theme for private students? I don't know my private student all that well. I only started with her last week. "Slowing down" would not be a theme for her since I am already slow and gentle.

    • @RachelScottYoga
      @RachelScottYoga  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Lisa Latimer hi Lisa! That's a great question. With my private students, I generally don't bring a theme in because the private is geared around specific goals that the client has. So if it makes sense to use a theme fir their goal, that I may weave a story in. But generally speaking, I find that my privates are more about honing in the physical practice.

    I am finding this storytime creeping into yoga classes and quite frankly I am not there to hear about my yoga teachers personal relationships, animal experiences etc. I am there for the yoga and the exercise. I find that yoga teachers are trying to be all things to all people and the ego is invading the space. I would never come to the teaching thinking I know more than anyone else in the class. I am not here for group therapy. Sharing the space with like minded people is enough for me, I don't need the upsell of anything else, the teaching is in the doing.

    • @RachelScottYoga
      @RachelScottYoga  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Sue, yes, I agree, theming is a tool that is not to all student's tastes, nor is it to all teachers' tastes. It grew in popularity with the advent of Anusara yoga. However, theming is not about thinking you know more than anyone else or upselling an experience, at least not when done skillfully. The intention is to incorporate an emotional relevance to the physical practice that can connect people in our shared humanity.

    • @charmee4045
      @charmee4045 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@RachelScottYoga Yes I find this can often be skillfully done with the teachers language during the practice, using words like noticing, sensing, witnessing , observing, the emotional connection will be established through the wording and the motion, without striving for anything above and beyond what the student is experiencing right here right now. We humans always strive for more than what occurs naturally. We are human we will feel it spontaneously as the chakras are released.
