Dan Lanning and the Oregon Ducks are the scariest program in the next 3 years of college football

  • Dan Lanning and his Oregon Ducks are killing it in recruiting and hand picking in the transfer portal. The Ducks are the biggest threat to Ohio State in the Big Ten and the Buckeyes better be ready when they head to Oregon because it’s a top 5 game of all time for the Ducks. To beat Ohio State their first year in the Big Ten would be the biggest statement win in the early college football season.

My husband and I were just discussing our confusion about all the attention surrounding Dan Lanning, considering he hasn't achieved any significant victories yet. It seems like he's being praised as if he's already coached a national championship-winning team. The Bulldog team he inherited to coach the defense was already filled with top-tier talent from the previous year, and much of their development can be attributed to Mel Tucker. We're both puzzled as to why so many people are raving about him.

I’ll explain my view. It takes a special individual to run a big time program. Not taking x’s ans O’s, but the CEO of a big time program. He has “it”. I’m an Ohio State fan who follows recruiting closely. Ohio State is in on the best recruits in the country. I’m used to all of a sudden all these guys who used to narrow it down to Alabama, UGA, OSU, UT are including Oregon. He just had the best class in the history of the program. He picked whoever he wanted in the portal and they came. He has the fans and donors supporting the program in a way they never have before. In 2 more cycles his roster will be very close to as talented as UGA and OSU. That’s just a fact. He is attracting big time coaches. There’s a reason Bama and aTm wanted him above anyone else. Sometimes you just see “it” and he’s got “it”. The guy will be competing for national championships. No doubt in my mind

His determination to stay means so much more to long time Ducks fans like myself(introduced in '94 at age 8) just due to our history. We had Rich Brooks from 1977 to 1994, 17 years. He was replaced with Mike Bellotti after Rich moved to the NFL and he went on to coach at Oregon from 1995 to 2008 when medical issues forced him to move on, a stay of 13 years so that's 2 coaches in 30 years. Then came Chip and everything changed. We saw success on a level Brooks or Bellotti couldn't have dreamed of under Chip but that bit us in the butt 4 years later when he, too, bounced to the NFL.
We then got 3 years of Helfrich which got us our second title run but also our first and only head coach termination in living memory, only one year of Slick Willy Taggart, and then Mario, too, left after only 4 years. We went from 2 head coaches in 30 years to twice as many coaches in less than half the time. A lot of Ducks fans have gotten pretty sick of the coaching carousel and the "Oregon is a stepping stone" comments so to finally have a head coach that not only says he plans to stay but actually follows through on it is refreshing in a way you can't imagine. He is welcome to stay as long as he wants and I hope he stays for decades to come! SGO DUCKS!

To be honest, I don’t really want people to take notice of how Dan Lanning moves on the recruiting trail. But we all know how hard it is to avoid this type of situation, because he wins. I’m glad he stayed with us. I can see it in his eyes every time he’s in the sidelines watching during games that he really wants to win the NATTY here in Oregon. His determination is really showing it. His speech to his players is so powerful and he showed them honesty and loyalty that’s why they believe in him. I do believe he will be the coach here for at least 10 years whenever he wins that NATTY twice. He will never leave this program until his accomplishments are done. I know someday the only team he likes to coach is KANSAS CITY CHIEFS. He made it known to everyone. I’m not just saying because I’m a DUCKS fan, it’s the truth. And people don’t realize even if Uncle Phil passed, it will continue to be supported by NIKE especially with other boosters. That NIL word originated from Oregon students athletes. The university has BIG time backers from other companies.

And he already makes great in game adjustments. Ask Lincoln Riley or Kyle Whittingham.. Even Daboer would admitt Washington's 3 wins by 3 points were the luck of the Gods.
