Thank you for this. I find Jae interesting. I think she's a balanced all-arounder. There's also a ring called Heart of the Nameless which grants her +10 to all skills, which is awesome. I sent feedback to Owlcat to allow players to level-up archtypes from scratch and to choose at least 2 archtypes per companion initially (officer or soldier for Jae, in example)
Thanks so much, I hope you're doing good! I talked to Starokk and theyve talked about changing some respecs later on. Hopefully that will include Jae cuz yeah lol
It's Important to note that in the first few chapters you can kind of get away with being a generalist skill wise without too many issues. Once you hit chapter 4 there are some tougher rolls and you'll want your main skill rollers to have Expertise and high 150+ skill numbers.
I can see what they were going for with Jae and on Normal you could get away with using her as a hybrid buffer and damage dealer but man some of those talent picks are terrible. Willpower? Lol. And no Seize The Initiative? She's a Han Solo type you know damn well she'd take that talent. Would've been better served as a Soldier imo to play with the dual wielding pistols. Still with the Cold Trader Acumen ability as long as you're diligent in raising your reputation with the factions her combat stats like armor and dodge get better not just skills albeit not as much as equipment would. As it stands she takes a little too much effort to get working for most people so she'll be on the bench. Me, I like what I saw of her in Alpha and Beta so I'd be tempted to try and make her weird hybrid build work.
Hi slandered just wanted to say thanks for all you do I love your content. Also do you plan to share the build you are planning to use for your hertic pyromancer? Would love to see that!
because of reviews saying the game is buggy. which is par for the course with owlcat. I am waiting to pick up this game until next year. Glad I will have a good amount of these videos for that time!
Ooh I didn't know there was a hit tip to Cold Traders and those who work...around...the Imperium's exciting and helpful laws. I do like skill monkeys. What a great vid for me...learned a few things and got exposed to a few things that were in the game.
Why are you fixed on just damage? I use Jae as a flanker, who softens up targets for Henrix to swoop in and clear them. Her officers abilities play into that. The aeldari pistols are amazing for that role. 😅
Her talents aren't that bad for a pistolero Vanguard. Imperium lore translates into armor with Saint Cognatiu's Scriptures and Armor of the Undaunted and fellowship with Helm of Determination which she qualifies for as an Iconoclast Adherent. Deflection Gloves allow her to parry with ballistics skill. So she pumps her Fellowship up by 10% every turn and gets 4% more armor. She's not the sturdiest of tanks, but she's excellent at grabbing aggro.
Somebody on here said the community manager Starrok said they were considering changing that once they fix all the critical bugs so that would be great.
@@CrazyxEnigma I hope so, for now I'm using Toybox to be able to respec them. Its the only thing I'm modding as of right now, so getting it base in the game would be nice.
I'd recommend Jae be built as Master Tactician or Vanguard in core or harder runs where you play as an Officer as a Rogue Trader, or if you're doing a Loyalist run - bench her if you couldn't bring yourself to kill her. Because her officer talents are equally confusing and stupid, she is useless as a Grand Strategist and building her as such only works on Normal difficulty where you get bonuses to your rolls so her pathetic intellect score won't impact the game much (in core+ you want your main stats to be at around 70 by level 20 and 150 by level 40 or you'll be failing checks). In Core and higher you are forced to build her Vanguard as an off tank scaling off Fellowship as opposed to Toughness to make those around her more tanky and equiping her with the gloves which allow her parry to instead use Ballistic Skill; Or as Tactician so she scales her damage off buffing teammates and Tacticians use Fellowship and Ballistic/Weapon Skill for everything so her terrible perception and intellect doesn't matter. As she was already gimped by her terrible officer build, so you have to work around that so you're pretty much forced to go Vanguard or Tactician in Core and harder. BTW If you want Jae to play like she did in early Beta when she was a Solider instead of an officer. Make her a Master Tactician and focus on using the Master Tactician stacks to self boost her damage, so every time she uses abilities on others it multiplies her own damage output. Her Officer build even leans into this, because it is all about buffing herself by casting abilities on others and the Master Tactician tree has talents which focus on this. So Linchpin and Finish the Job are your primary Master Tactician abilities on Jae, all others are kind of meh for her as they serve to help allies instead of making her do more damage. Basically, you're trying to accumulate as many Tactical Advantage stacks as you can, then you spend them on Press the Advantage to do a ton of damage. Linchin also takes advantage of Jae's weird Officer build, know what they say about lemons, make lemonade. Jae fundamentally exists as a stand in for what you should be building as a Rogue Trader in case you wanted to be I don't know - play something other than what you should be playing. So in case you wanted to be a Psyker who casts fireballs or something, she'd be your trader/leader complementing Cassia's officer abilities. But since I usually always go officer and Tactician on my Rogue Traders both in the table top game and in this game; Jae fundamentally feels like a 3rd leg, which sucks because her monster passives lend to her being frankly better at filling the role than my character is purely because her origin talents are awesome; I can not understate how good Cold Trader's Acumen and Never Play Fair are to a traditional Offficer/Tactician scaling generalist skill monkey trader build which falls into the "My friends fight for *me*" meme; Where your own damage scales off your team, where Momentum and Resolve are your primary focus and you go full in on Fellowship as your primary stat so your entire build is geared towards doing massive amounts of damage scaled off your team while controlling both turn order and procing heroic constantly. Her passives frankly cover the downsides of such a build to the point where you don't need gear to compensate for said downsides, like on your main character, in fact gear simply makes her stronger. Put Helm of Determination, an early game found unique gear item on her and suddenly she's a monster, she gets very high armour and very high fellowship which scales off her Iconoclastic rank. As for a Dogmatic Run, you'd very likely won't even recruit her; You'd either shoot her at the bar if you're smart enough to figure out she's a cold trader then, or shoot her in the warehouse when she reveals she uses xenotech. And if you do recruit her, the response from your loyalist retinue members is simply confusion, but you're the Rogue Trader and they just accept it and tolerate her because they have to, but then you'd be left with a companion you can't really do much with. After I recruited her, I decided to respec my Rogue Trader using one of my three free respecs so he instead focused on being something else as an officer to what I did before. Then I made her into what I was doing with him, as she is far better suited for it. As a selfish leader, someone who scales their own damage off the buffs they give others. He is all about boosting momentum, resolve and manipulating turn order now, while Jae is all about scaling off others.
Once they allow us to respec talents instead of just levels, she will be great. It seems like that will happen in the future from talking to the senior community manager. But they will fix bugs first.
Many people don't choose Officer as their main archetype and Cassia is probably best served focusing on Navigator abilities so Jae isn't redundant but we need the flexibility to give her better options.
Yeah, I was under the impression that one of your dudes on the bridge had a conversation option that let you respec all your characters. Does it only let you respec down to the level you got them at?
At this time you can only respect characters back to a certain point. Owlcat has confirmed that later down the line they plan to add a feature which will let you completely respec characters.
@@SlanderedGaminghope they fixed talent too, waiting till breakthrough and most melee talent fixed so my assasin can finally shank enemy multiple times.

I look forward to how you do the heritic run, what class/ origin will you choose to rp as a heretic?
I've been livestreaming my pyro heretic run.
Is there a way to rotate the 5x2 areas you put down? It looks like they are centered to a line perpendicular to the Grand Strat.
I'm already feeling withdrawal effects due to the lack of episodes. Will there be one today, please?"
I might do another one this weekend. Once the views dip down below 10% of the subscribers I take that as an indication it's time to move on.
This seems like more of a roast than a build guide. Poor Jae.
Oh, just in time, I just unlocked her! I'm excited to see the herectic run
Heretic run has been on the livestream so I think there are four episodes up already. I'll be continuing it later this week.

Bruh this girl is WILD! Constantly has my character shaking her head not knowing what to do with her😆
Why can't Owlcat let us level all companions from level 1? I always end up modding it in.

you really missed an opportunity to write skill mon keigh in the thumbnail
I saw several guides that say that JAE is the worse character because Owlcat gave her terrible talents that you cannot change.
I used overwhelming zone on front line sat Argenta in it and went ham
Nice that works too!

lol so this game is just Argenta and 5 grand strategists
😂😂
There's still Cassia! Although you pick Grand strategist for her, you basically stick to navigator talents lol
She seems like a redundant character. Just a romance option at best. Anyway, thanks for the video. It is appreciated.
she seems redundant but could be good if your RT isn't an Officer as well. If you do mean redundant like lore-wise, yeah maybe.
