🇧🇸STEW FISH: Brown the fish then combine it with flour which has been browned in oil, onions, spices, carrots, potatoes, and tomato paste. Simmer until the fish is tender and fully cooked. Serve this stew with homemade bread or johnny cakes on the side.

🇧🇸 STUFFED PIGEON: Stuff each pigeon's cavity and under the skin. Place the stuffed pigeons in the stock for 15 minutes to cook.Pull the pigeons out of the stock and let them rest.

🇧🇸 CRAB N DOUGH: Break the legs and remove them from the crab’s body
In a pot, add crabs then place dough. Combine flour, baking powder and salt, mixed with water. Make a firm dough. knead well and allow to rest 10 minutes. In a large pot, add a cup of water seasoned with salt, add pepper, and bring to a boil. Flatten dough and place over the crab. Cover the pot, boil on medium heat for 20 - 25 minutes without opening the pot.

They weren't so warm and hospitable to those crabs... I get respecting someone's culture, but I'm sorry, that aspect of their culture is FUCKED UP, and it should be called out.
You're taking that animal's life to eat; the least you could do if kill it in the least torturous way possible.

As an American who lived in the Bahamas a total of 17 years, I was introduced to sheep tongue souse by my now deceased husband. At first just to say it I was 😳then when I tasted it, I took over my husband’s bowl and he had to order one for himself! I love it spicy. I visited Andros, Exuma, Harbour Island, Eleuthera, Long Island, Green Turtle Cay, Stocking Island, and a few others. The one thing I told my husband, he would have to clean the 🦀 crabs, which he did-I was terribly afraid of those biters! Thank you for sharing too❤️🥰❣️BTW, Eddie Minnis a local artist, and musician had a song about crabs…”Church out-Crab Walking.”😂😂😂😂😂
The last 1/2 dozen videos have been some of my favorites and this one is my new favorite. Such a good episode, loved the crab hunt and the visit to the less-touristy locations.

I think I came to this channel cuz some guy had an octopus in his mouth… and thought all these years I was watching for the food, but I think it’s actually amazing watching someone who can just get along with random people really really easily and it’s wonderful.
Been to the Bahamas a couple of the islands but my friends from there never mentioned Andros! Thank you for taking us there, wonderfully down to earth welcoming people!✨

Amazing video, so much great content! I know, it‘s my personal issue with that, but i felt really bad for those crabs being amputated alive and fully consious.. As a european chef myself, I rather kill them before cooking.

Really enjoyed this! It was so humbling for Sonny to listen to one of the ladies instruct him on eating the crab, even though he already knew how to! The crab scene of pulling off limbs was a bit sad but I understand! Great show Sonny!

I found BEFRS in August 2020 after (sadly) returning from 6 months on a closed bridgeless Atlantic island. While on the island, I ate from my own vegetable garden -planted in April of 2020-, plus plantains, polk weed, feral hog, loads of crab and fish, souse (Southern US style), eggs from the coup, horse jerky made in my smoker (I didn't kill the horse), jellyfish, etc. Finding Best Ever Food Review Show after my depressing return to the USA "proper" has been instrumental in my keeping my head up and plowing forward in my life. Thank you all. This was (and there are many close) my favorite post from y'all so far! Thank you. Keep it up, please!

As a Bahmian-American, stewed fish with Johnny cake and crab and dough are my two favorite Bahamian dishes (aside from conch-related ones LOL). I look forward to trying the pigeon dish though. It looks great!
